For the first time in several years, I have time to send Christmas cards. I have been doing research on card etiquette and everyone says that computer printed address labels is a no-no. Well, I was going to do these labels because I had surgery on my right hand, and I still have a lot of pain when writing with that hand. I am right handed. I can't get my husband or son to do the addresses for me because their hand writing is so bad no one can read it.

My question is, just how tacky is it to put computer labels on Christmas cards? I bought the clear labels, and did them in a very nice script, but if it is going to be seen as being lazy or tacky, then I will just not send the cards. My family and friends will be shocked if they get a card, so no card is no big deal.

I have no problem with computer printed labels- especially in your situation!

Really, people care whether you put a printed label rather than a handwritten one :confused3 If so, then they aren't people I would care to send a card to :rolleyes1

I just like the cards, could careless about the envelope
Do what you like; people should be happy you took the time to send one

Though personally i write them out, but only because my printer hates anything that isn’t thin 8x11 copy paper

I don't care in the least--I'm just happy that someone thought of me.

My mom has trouble writing all her cards as she's gotten older. I have her addresses all typed up and I print out the labels for her. I also type up a notecard to go inside each card with a message from her each year and she adds those and all she has to do is sign her name.

if people are petty enough to care, they doesn't deserve a card from you anyway.

I would say at least half of the cards I receive have printing labels on them. We use them as well. I only thought it was bad to do it for something like a wedding invite. I had never heard it was bad for Christmas cards.

Don't worry about it...especially after hand surgery! I do like a card hand-signed, but I wouldn't worry about that either if I were you.

I agree-if people get their undies in a twist over something as stupid as this, they will get dropped from my list.

I would say that 90% of our cards some with pre-printed labels and no 'personal note". Who cares, I want to see how the kids have grown or read their letters to see what has gone on in their lives in the past year. I pre-print our names on the cards, pre-print the address AND return address on all the cards. Actually I don't use labels because they cost extra, I just print right to the envelope. :lmao:

Altho I don't used printed out address labels, but truthfully don't mind anyone who does. I just love the thought and getting C'mas cards this time of year! Specially with your surgery, don't give it a second thought :goodvibes. This is the first year we've sent our personalized photo cards with engraved message. We've had a lot going on this year, felt like being lazy for once, and sorry, am at the stage of life where I don't sweat the small stuff. :rotfl2:

i print right on the envelope, too.

i have all my addresses in mail merge, and hit print> return and addressed to!

handwritten for wedding invites is a different story, but still.. if you have issues with your hand, then whatever is perfectly acceptable!

SEND YOUR CARDS!

That is my thought as well....wedding invite a huge no, but who cares with Christmas Cards :confused3

I would be happy with preprinted labels.

Its a Christmas Card. Do what you want. Peronally, my handwriting and printing really are not the greatest. I ordered from Miles Kimball and got the whole smash. When my cards arrive they'll have our names signed and return address right on the envie. Now if i get my new printer set b4 they arrive then just maybe I'll run off a set of clear labels for the front addresses.

I honestly don't care how much is handwritten or not.

When you print them out, just use a handwritting font instead of the normal one :thumbsup2

I really don't care about the envelopes and have no problem if the card has a preprinted signature.

I used to write a note on each card before signing them and always addressed the envelopes. Last year my DD pout a stop tot eh addresses and printed them for me. I have arthritis and it is painful both to write and for those poor folks who have to read my handwriting ;)

That is crazy, use the labels. I could care less about the envelope.

I don't care one way or another.

But my Aunt has to take the cake with labels.

About 4 years ago, she called me and told me she had gotten our Christmas card, but I didn't use one of the nice printed return address label like I had in years past. Since I hadn't sent her a printed return label on my card, she wasn't able to peel it off and put on our card from them and she couldn't read part of my hand writing and wanted to make sure she was writing down the correct address.

I guess in past years, I had never looked that closely at the envelope to notice that she just used our return address label as her adressee label.
