We are getting an AP effective our October trip...also going Aug 2006. I thought "O.k. that will justify the AP & we get 2 WDW trips within a year. :cool1: woohoo!

So, my DH is putting in for his days off this morning & some how brings up the idea that we might squeeze in another (shorter, maybe 4 days) trip in Dec at Christmas break (12/26-12/31)? :scared1:

What? What? I have done such meticulous planning for Oct & even ps ideas for Aug 06! Now I have to plan for Dec???? First are we nuts, it would be a stretch financially but if we stayed mod it's doable. Are we nuts to face the holiday crowds after just being there in Oct? Are the airfares at that time astronomical? O.k. I'm going to get a paper bag to breathe into now... :rotfl:

You know I never find December very busy! My mom and me go a couple times in December to see the Christmas trees and such, and it's actually not that bad.

I can't help you with the airfair price, I've never been on a plane! XD

The beginning of December isn't busy at all. It's nice to walk around the parks and see the beautiful decorations. HOWEVER, after Christmas Day, get ready for complete madness! That is an extremely busy time here. I saw on the nightly news that the MK was so busy, they had to close due to capacity issues. In short, if you go before Christmas Day, you should be fine. If you wait until after, be ready to stand in lines a LONG time!

We were there back in Chreistmas '99. Up until Christmas day, it was empty. Christmas Day itself they closed MK about 10AM, but it was reopened in the afternoon. I got stuck in the park right at the end of the parade - it took me about an hour to make the turn off Main Street into Tomorrowland!

Everyone in general is in a good mood, but it is crowded. If your break includes any days before Christmas, I'd start the trip then.

If you can get there before Christmas Day, the crowds are a bit more manageable! I would NEVER pass up an opportunity to visit WDW during the Holiday Season! Even if the crowds mean you don't do as many attractions as you'd do other times, just being there with all the decorations (don't miss it "snowing" at Studios during Osborne Lights!!) is SO worth it!

Last Christmas, very few presents - our money went to WDW and my family has memories we will cherish forever. :wizard:

You'll have great fun if you just go to see the shows (the Candlelight Processional at EPCOT, the Osborne Lights at MGM, etc.) and Christmas parades (the one at MGM included musical performances by Beauty and the Beast at the end when we were there) and decorations (hit all the monorail resorts and check out their Christmas trees, etc., and go see Santa at DD -- great photos there!) and forget about doing many rides. The lines will be unbelievable and FPs will sell out fast. Just be sure and make PSs (or whatever they are calling them now!).

Don't panic, you will have a great time! You still have ages to plan and make arrangements as well. We will be there at Christmas too from 21st December - 2nd January staying at the BCV and can't wait.I guess if you make sure you plan must do things for your other trips and go on the Christmas trip for the atmposhere.

I have been told the week between Christmas and New Years is the busiest week. Airfares are normally higher but buy your tickets now and just do it!!

Since you will be there in Oct, you can just sit back and enjoy the trip. Spend time at the hotel, see things you wouldn't normally see and you won't be as stressed about "doing everything".

I think even with the crowds it is a great place to be that time of year!!

Thanks everyone,

I'd love to come down before Christmas but my kids do not want to be away from home on that day because they are afraid Santa won't know where they are & not leave presents. I said Santa knows where you are but they didn't buy it! :bitelip:

When they are older we'll be able to go the whole week. :sunny:

We are doing the same thing this year, to take advantage of AP's. We are going for the decorations and the shows. Any rides will be a bonus. Can't wait!
