Does any one know when and what they do special for Christmas at USO We will be in Orlando Dec. 2-9. We are going to USO one day. Would like to go a day that they have their Christmas programs and parade. On their website it does not give any dates. Has any body been there and done that. :cool1:

We were there last Dec. and I'm pretty sure they were doing the balloon parade (a la Macy's) every day in the afternoon. There were also some balloons just on display. I don't remember and special shows/programs. There were some cute decorations in Suess Landings at IOA.

I just got this in email.

There's No Place Like Universal For the Holidays!

Experience a universe of holiday fun and excitement throughout Universal Orlando® Resort, December 8th through January 1st. Catch the Macy's Holiday ParadeTM at Universal Studios® and see the sights and sounds of Universal 360 - A Cinesphere SpectacularSM, Dec. 26 - Jan. 1. Plus, Meet The GrinchTM at Universal's Islands of Adventure®.

All the festivities are included with your theme park admission!

As passholders, DH and I got to help with a Macy's parade balloon. :Pinkbounc
We want to do it again this year.

No more Grinchmas :sad2:

Very sad! I just hope that there is something celebrating the holidays added to IOA next year. I cancelled my trip for December because of this. I did rebook for April. :rotfl:

And I moved my December trip to Disneyland.. lol.. which is like Disney for people who like Universal. I swear..

Oh no, I didn't know they would not be doing Grinchmas this year, how disapointing!

They definitely need to bring back Grinchmas, when was that cancelled? It is so cool. That is the perfect thing for Christmas in that area. The Grinch is a classic Christmas special and the area is already primed for it. That seems like a dumb move on their part. I hate when they change great things. If something is going good they shouldn't change it.

It says on the website...meet the Grinch.

So what has been canceled?

This will be our first trip to US and IoA.

2 years ago, there used to be a wonderfully themed area that was the Grinch's lair. You would queue up to meet the grinch and his dog and could have pictures taken with them. It is the only picture we have ever bought in the numerous times we have been there, it was that cute :) The wait in line seemed to go so quickly because you were taking in all the stuff they stuck in the "lair". And the grinch was in full "movie" type makeup - not the green fuzzy suit he wears the rest of year. They must have had a Jim Carrey look-a-like when we were there because he looked EXACTLY like the movie.

But the lair was discontinued as the location for the lair is now the entrance queue to Suess's trolley.

There was also the Whobilation - a skit in Suess Landing that was a quick 1/2 hour retelling of the Grinch story. Again, the costumes were fantastic and the show well done and entertaining. If I remember correctly, it was several times a day. It was also in Suess Landing on a large stage with a huge, crooked Christmas tree.

I am sorry they ended these two things, as our kids really looked forward to them. However, Grinch is still there, but just not in the elaborately decorated "lair".

But Universal has added new shows around the parks, and if done the same as the Grinchmas shows, it should prove just as magical. I believe I read there was a new Christmas Show in the Kid Zone area in US. And the Blues Brothers and Barney have Christmas shows. That coupled with the Macy's parade, you should have enough Christmas specials to keep you busy :goodvibes

We've got that picture too, my son and I with the Grinch. He looks exactly like Jim Carey in the movie.
