I only said my previous reply the way I did because our stay happen to be Club Level and we had a view of Cinderella's castle. So my reply was relevant because the OP was asking about the Magic Kingdom view, which is what we had. I know they are not asking about staying Club Level, so my reply was based on the view we had and nothing to do with the Club Level service.

I've stayed club level at every WDW resort that offers it, and in suites at a few of the resorts as well, but I don't find the need to mention it in every one of my posts, and only mention it when it's relevent to the thread.

You could just as easily responded that you had a lagoon view room during your recent stay and you liked it. Mentioning CL seemed irrelevent to this thread, so I was questioning why it was mentioned at all. :confused3

Well I was being honest with the OP where our room was located and since that was my families 1st stay at the Polynesian, I can not speak for the other Lagoon view or Magic Kingdom views to know how they look in the other Longhouses.

This poll is really a better fit on the resorts board vs. the theme parks board.

I've moved it to resorts.

Thanks,

Knox

I'm glad you clarified that, CR Resort Fan; I took your earlier comments the same way Ducklite did. Now I see what you meant. :)

You're obviously not going to get my point, which is unfortunate. Have a nice New Years.

That's exactly the way I took it as well. I still don't see the relevancy.

Can I just ask why you wouldn't go for Wilderness Lodge earlier in December?

Given that I would never go during Christmas week, I suppose I would say Polynesian. But again, only because it's either that or the worst week of the year.

As for the 2 resorts, ESPECIALLY at Christmas time, no comparison. Wilderness wins hands down. It's simply beautiful. The Polynesian had boring decorations up and truth be told, doesn't have a good Christmas atmosphere anyways.

Today I am going to agree with Boomhauer... ;)

The Polynesian is an outdated 1970's view of 'Polynesia' - while it has many fans, the buildings are showing their wear and tear, even after the interior renovations.

Wilderness Lodge on the other hand does accurately represent many of the great lodges of western North America.

no one should plan a vacation expecting an upgrade

Sage advice that is unfortunately too rarely heeded here. I will take realism over fantasy any day when it comes to booking travel.

I kind of agree with you about that. I did not notice anything like you mentioned, however the hallways in the Longhouses look like they were not renovated at all.

We've done 6 December trips. 3 early December, 2 over Christmas day and week, and 1 for a week after Christmas. I voted for Christmas week at WL. It was beautiful. You may be able to see high fireworks from MK depending on the room. The parks will be super crowded, but get there at opening time and you'll be able to accomplish a lot. Leave for the resort or other activites when it gets crowded. Go back to a park after dinner.
Since you're planning for WL from Dec.21-29th, you'll have some nice lower crowd days before Christmas. Go for the rides then. I've found the crowds are worse between Christmas day and New Years. Enjoy!

I LOVE the WL at Xmas but I chose the Poly because of the dates. The last 3 years we went in early Dec and there are little to no crowds...I could not handle full capacity at Xmas

Let me just say that I have been both times of December. Having spent Christmas week at the WL 3 years ago, the crowds were not that bad until Christmas Eve. We were there from 12/19 thru 12/27 and did all the rides and shows and parades that we wanted from when we arrived until 12/24. And during that time, the crowds were minimal. We spent Christmas Eve at MK, had breakfast at WCC on Christmas and headed over to Epcot. It was very rainy so the park was not as crowded as it could have been. The 26th was packed so we just enjoyed walking around and visiting the resorts and were not affected by the crowds and we headed home on the 27th. One of our best Disney vacations ever.

I thought about changing the trip from to Dec. 18th - 26th. There are only two problems with those dates though. Arriving on the 18th, puts us getting there on a Thursday, and I would think it would be harder to get the room we want arriving on a Thursday vs. a Sunday. Also, I would think that MCO would be crazy the day after Christmas. Maybe I can get my DH to extend the trip to 10 days and leave on the 27th. One good thing about getting there earlier means that we could go to MVMCP.
OMG planning a Christmas WDW is SO much harder than a normal WDW trip. Disney should have a warning on their website. **WARNING!! Planning a Christmastime trip to Walt Disney World may cause grey hair.** :lmao:
