Hi all,
We are doing DisneyWorld for Xmas this year, and not sure whether to bring dressier clothes. Given the travel horrors this time of year, I am trying to only have carry-on and am wondering whether it's worth packing 'nice' dinner clothing. Usually everything is pretty casual, but we were thinking of doing Xmas dinner at the Wilderness Lodge so perhaps we'd better pack something nice..

Any thoughts? Also your thoughts on a good place for Xmas dinner is appreciated!

weather can be very different at Christmas too. May be shorts weather, may be winter coat weather. Can't tell until right up until!

Casual is just fine at almost all the onsite places. If you were talking Victoria and Alberts, then you need jacket and tie. Other than that, you are fine with jeans. Maybe a tad nicer than a tshirt on christmas :)

Have a great and magical trip!

We spent Christmas 2007 in WDW.

We did bring a few "nicer than usual WDW outfits" for Xmas Eve & Xmas Day. My family usually wears matching clothes everyday. On Xmas Eve we ate at 1900 PF....we all wore black pants & the boys wore the Mickey plaid long-sleeved (button-up shirts with collars) from Disneyshopping.com & we girls wore our lightweight Minnie sweaters that matched the boys shirts.

On Xmas Day (ate at 'Ohana & CM) we wore black pants & long-sleeved Xmas Disney t-shirts. The shirts were Xmas Disney-themed ones. I made them using designs from the great designers here on the CREATIVE DISIGNS forum.

Anyway, the range of guests' clothing was about the same that it was throughout the year in WDW...some people REALLY dressed up fancy, many just wore "nice clothing" like my family, and some others looked like they came straight in from the parks (jeans & t-shirts).

You will love Christmas Week in WDW! Wish we were going back!!

It was COLD the year we went in December. We needed the coats and gloves we brought. We stayed and ate at the WL that trip and took nothing nicer that good jeans and sweaters. We were very much the norm.

Went the next trip in January and never put on a jacket and wore shorts. You never know.

Take your swim suit anyway as the pools are heated. COLD getting out but the kids do not care.

We go every year in December, and the weather is really variable; I literally have to pack for two different trips: a shorts and tee shirt trip and a winter coats and jeans trip, because you never know, even right up to the last minute.

Florida is weird, weather-wise. I live one state north of florida, and used to live IN florida, and it's just very challenging. This april they had a cold snap so cold that we had to go to the outlet store in the middle of our trip and buy winter coats! We wore them over our shorts.

I like to pack nicer clothes for December because there are so many holiday photo ops that we tend to see those pictures more, so we dress either in coordinated (we don't do the matching thing, tried it once it wasn't for us), or just photo friendly outfits.

My family and I have gone to WDW 3 or 4 times during christmas. If you eat out on christmas, a nice place to go would be the Grand Floridian. You can dress up nicely and take pictures, because the whole hotel looks nice on Christmas. Also the weather can change. In 2002, we went during Christmas and it was cold and rainy the whole time, but on the other hand we have been there, during Christmas, when it has been in the 80's. I guess you do not know till you get there.

Hope, 11

We always go at the beginning of December. As we live only an hour away, we have the luxury of being able to pack extra items just in case.

The weather is unpredictable, but we are usually ok in jeans and then layers on top. Some years, we have been in short sleeves all day and added a light sweater at night and others we have had gloves and coats on all day.

You will need to check the weather forecast right before you go and tweak your planned wardrobes accordingly. Casual clothing is really fine, unless you are going to V&A. I sometimes wear a shorter casual skirt and tights and flats just because skirts are more my thing, but I would leave the really dressy duds at home. My jeans look is usually a fitted cardigan and silk cami or tee with dark jeans and a leather or wool jacket if it is going to be cool. DH and DS usually wear button front shirts or lightweight sweaters over tees and dark jeans and also carry a light weight jacket.

For December I was planning on buying a pair or two of pants that unzip to shorts and some pants that could be rolled up into capris. Do you think that would work? Obviously I'll need a sweater or fleece as well for the evenings, but I'm hoping nothing more than that.

I remember my first Disney Christmas trip (35 years ago) wearing shorts and I remember one trip about 15 or so years ago standing in line at Epcot at noon and the temp was 26 deg F. Much preferred the shorts weather!
