Hi,
Can anyone please tell me the earliest that Christmas starts being celebrated at WDW?
I'm know I can look up the big things such as MVMCP, Osborne Lights, Candlelight Processional, Holiday parades, etc. But does anyone know when the decorations show up at the parks and hotels? I seem to remember them starting with things like stringing the Osborne Lights as early as September, maybe?
I'm trying to figure out how early we can go and actually see all the Christmas trees and other decorations, even if none of the "special events" are happening yet?
Thanks for any info!

MK is going to be decorated early Nov for MVMCP. I believe I also read somewhere that Osborne lights also go up early Nov. From reading other threads on this subject, I don't think there is any fixed known timetable of when the other parks and resorts get decorated.

Everything will start to go up in early November. For some reason, November 7th seems to stick in my mind. Usually, the Halloween decorations will come down literally overnight on October 31st. Guests will enter the parks on November 1st to the garland across Main Street, etc. Last year, the transition came a little later. I think it was due to permit restrictions. Up until last year, Disney ran garland across Main Street at Magic Kingdom. Due to the new parade (and the size of the dragon,) they can no longer do this. They changed the way they decorate Main Street and I'd assume that's what pushed everything back.

I think the gingerbread displays usually go up by the second week in November.

We'll be there November 6th. We were going to go for the weekend, but figured we'd stop by for one day for F&W. We'll be heading back for Christmas, so an extremely abbreviated trip shouldn't hurt that bad.

Also - the tree at Magic Kingdom won't go up until AFTER they film the Christmas parade.

It varies from resort to resort and park to park. It might be as late as the first week of December before everything is up. The food festival affects Epcot. The Grand Florida is usually the last one to be ready.

Thanks Everyone!

I think I'll go ahead and change my reservations then. We were going to go the Sunday after Thanksgiving, but have been thinking about earlier in November. We could still do MVMCP if we want. I haven't gone to that in years, and was shocked when I saw how expensive it's gotten! Thanks again!

Stopping to say hello, Debbie. My best to you, Kevin, Katelyn, Jared and families.

And yes, the prices there, on everything, are through the roof, but still lots of fun. Enjoy.

Hi Dan! Long time no see! We've still been going to WDW quite a lot, but have only gone around Christmas time twice. 2001 for DIS Con with Katelyn, then 2002 with Kevin! We have a 6 year old grandson, Xavier, who is Jared's son. They live with us, and Katelyn is just getting ready to move back in, after being on her own for 4 years. So we'll be back to a full house!
Anyway, we've already taken Xavier twice, but Jared has not been since 2006. So this time will be all 5 of us, and Jared requested we go while Christmas stuff is happening, since he and Xavier haven't been then.

Sorry so long, but when I get started it's hard to stop! HA
Hope you, Marie, the kids, and grandkids are all happy and healthy!

Debbie

Jared will really enjoy after a 9 year absence, so many changes. And 6 already for Xavier? :faint:

I recall your '01 and '02 trips well. Lots of fun.

Christmas time is a great time to go, early in the month. Or late November, just not Thanksgiving week.

And thanks for your good wishes also.

when we went 2nd week in November the parks were decorated and the Osborne Lights were up and running but nothing had really happened at the resorts yet.

After much mind changing (I wanted to go for my birthday which is October) I decided on last couple days of November through middle of first full week in December (2016)
