Christmas at the DLH pre trip report

We are all starting to get very excited this week as we feel the countdown is now really on for our amazing holiday!!!

We are me (34), hubby (40), Matt (11), Sam (9) and Victoria (5) we all love Disneyland Paris and after our visit in the summer just couldn't resist experiencing some of the Christmassy magic too

We booked a family room at the Disneyland Hotel from Mon 20th Dec - Fri 24th Dec. Didn't really want to be travelling back on Christmas eve but it was the only time they could give us the 2 days/nights free offer which worked out best for us.

After a bit of a panic with the dog and kennels (having him delivered back to our house where hopefully my parents will have already arrived on xmas eve!) we are now all set and buying last minute boots and thermals for some of us.

At the weekend we rang the restaurant reservation line and booked all our meals (I like to be super organised ). Decided to have main meals in the evenings this time to take a break from the cold and dark!

Monday - Silver Spur Steakhouse for evening meal, never tried this before but menu looks up our street and others seem to like.

Tuesday - Auberge de Cendrillon for evening meal, went here in August for lunch and enjoyed it (even the boys!) so thought would be nice to try evening.

Wednesday - Walts for evening meal (I checked with cm on phone that it will be open), again never tried this one but only read good things about it so we are trying on all your recomendations

Thursday - Inventions for evening meal, loved it here last time so saving till our last evening. Hopefully a great finish to our magic holiday

Other than that we will probably grab hot chocolates and snacks through the day and the odd mulled wine Have the hot breakfast this time so hoping that will keep us going a bit longer.

Also at the weekend we took the step to become a shareholder. We already have a share dealing acc but only deals in uk shares!! So on Sunday we applied online for the Halifax one, just hoping it can be sorted in the next 3 weeks before we go eeek!! Haven't heard anything back from them yet.

Hoping to re fuel late morning in salon mickey too so might not have to buy proper lunches as such and we take fruit shoots and cereal bars with us anyway for the kids.

Just polishing off itinerary and will post that too soon Although as we don't know times of things for definite yet we may have to jiggle it nearer the time

Think the itinerary is a bit manic but we probably won't stick to it. Suppose it will depend on weather and how tired we are as the week goes on.

Monday we arrive 2pm, check in (hopefully) and unpack, grab snack on main st then back to hotel for characters etc, ride btm with fastpass (we haven't done this yet!), nosey round shops, tree lighting, castle lighting and hopefully make it to Silver Spur for 7.30pm ish!

Tuesday EMH then breakfast, santas village, salon mickey (hopefully), mickey's winter wonderland show, snacks, meet rapunzel and/or tiana, meet star wars character, Winnie the pooh show (not heard anything about this but have seen it on programme), back to hotel to change etc, auberge at 6pm, fantillusion, collapse into bed!!!

Wednesday EMH then breakfast, meet Goofy or Dingo, more shops, over to studios, we have never done playhouse disney or cinemagique so these are priority, stars n cars, back to hotel, pirates ride and IASW, 6pm Walts.

Thursday EMH then breakfast, ice skating at HNY, salon mickey, belles market, sleeping beauty show, studios for toy story playland, main park parade, more rides if poss then 6.30pm Inventions, watch fantillusion from top of main st then back to hotel for last night cocktails!! mmmm

Friday - Christmas eve, think we will have had enough of EMH and deserve a bit of a lie in! Have breakfast, look in shops, grab sandwiches etc to take on journey and leave just before 12pm!!!

Sounds mad I know when I read it back but think we managed to do most of what was on our last itinerary in August so we'll see how this one goes.

Bit worried we will miss the castle lighting as have to be at silver spur for 7.30pm and think that's the only night we can see it.

Lots still to think about and organise, but I just love the build up

Any suggestions welcome from more experienced disney goers at Christmas time

think you will be fine for the castle lighting. when we went durning the week it was around 6:30-6:45. Fantilustion was around 7:10

Have looked on the opening hours of the parks for that week and it's open till 10pm every night so the castle lighting will be on later unfortunately

Not sure we will manage it but going to have a quick exit route in place so we can dash over to silver spur at the last minute!!

Don't forget to plan Christmas too ... make sure you leave your parents a nice long shopping list for your return on Christmas eve doubt you'll have much chance to visit Tesco lol

Yeah exactly, I am also busy organising Christmas too!! Have Christmas dinner arriving ready to pop all in the oven courtesy of m & s this year!!! But I just couldn't face peeling potatoes etc when we get back on Christmas Eve

It's still surprising how much needs buying and organising. We are pretending its Christmas next weekend so we are completely organised when we return. It's mad but sooo excititng

Will try and take lots of pics of the hotel and will try to remember to take photos of the meals this time too
