Some lucky people will be going "home" for Christmas this year. I would just like to mention that we should all try to remember the true meaning of Christmas. If you happen to be Roman Catholic and staying at OKW or SSR you are just a short trip from a beautiful church called "Mary, Queen of the Universe Shrine. It is just as short drive down Lake Buena Vista Bvld take a right go under I-4 then turn left and follow the signs. It is a beautiful chuch and a great place to celebrate, Christmas.

This is a great tip. The Shrine's purpose is to serve the travelers so you are with folks from all over the world who have come to Orlando for Christmas. Even if you can't make a Mass, the way the Church is decorated is beautiful and they have a beautiful life-size Nativity set-up in the chapel. I think even some non-Catholics might enjoy a visit to the Shrine to see how beautiful it is. It's become easier to find now that lots has been built around it -- including the Premium Outlets.

While I agree that seeing the Nativity set is worth the trip, I do not enjoy going to Mass at the shrine. It's just too big for me, and we actually waited over 10 minutes for late arrivals before starting the Mass on Nov. 14th. The shrine does send you a receipt for your donation if you use a check for the collection, we already have the receipt. I think the gift shop and chapel are also worth seeing.

We like going to Holy Family Catholic Community 5125 S. Apaopka-Vineland Rd. They have a web site with directions and time of the Masses.
