Christmas at Disney

We are planning our trip for 2005/ 2006 and can't decide whether to go December 26th/05 to Jan 8th/06 or August 15th to the 30th/06.
How busy is it at Christmas? Is it crazy busy? Is it worth any hassles you may have to endure? Do most people go for Christmas eve and Christmas or do most people go right after Christmas?

We will be in St Petes in early July /05 and will try to get a few days at Disney then.

---Christmas is VERY busy. Parks reach capcity quickly on holidays. One good thing about this week is the extension of park hours due to the crowds. Pools are heated, so you can swim even on the most frigid day. Many of our schools have off until Jan 6th, so there will be many locals. The decorations are beautiful! Christmas is my favorite time at Disney. The majority of people are there Christmas to New Years.


---As for August, it is HOT and HUMID!!! This August we had consistent temps in the '90's during the day and '80's at night. Not to Mention, the hurricanes. There is usually a thunderstorm late afternoon. Schools around here start mid-August, so that would help with the summer crowds.

---If I didn't live near WDW and had to chose between these times, I'd chose Christmas. It's so festive. There are many special things going on over the holidays. The lights and decorations are beautiful. Holidays around the world at Epcot are nice. Candlelight Processional is a must at least once. Osborne Family lights are great! The shows and parades are awesome. MVMCP is fun. The only drawback is the crowds.

We have been at both of the times you are considering and personally prefer the xmas holidays over August for all of the reasons previously mentioned.
