We have been lucky enough to go to Disney several times during the summer. This year I was to go down for Christmas but I need some help figuring out how to do that with a 6 year that still believes in Santa. I was hoping to spend Chrismtas day over there but its hard for her to understand that they toys she asks for will be under the tree at home and not at the hotel christmas morning. Any ideas from those who have Christmas with little ones in Disney would be appreciated. I know we just got thru the Christmas holiday but its going to take us alot of time to plan in order to pull this off! Thank you

Maybe you can pack some of her small presents in a separate suitcase, or ship them in advance. That way you could give her at least a little bit. If she asks for any big items, maybe Santa could leave her a note (maybe even with a photo attached showing her gift in front of her tree?) that it is waiting for her when she gets home, because it was too big to take home in the car or plane. If you have a family member or friend nearby, maybe they could go put it out for you while you are gone. Hope that helps!

Have her write a letter to Santa explained your vacation plans. Santa may want to write her a letter back acknowledging the WDW vacation and tell her when and where she'll get to open her presents.

This last December we spent the 4th - 15th at WDW and we ordered a 4' pre-lit Christmas tree from www.Joanns.com for $29.99 (free shipping) and also shipped down a small box of ornaments to decorate with. Maybe this is something you could do and then you'd have a tree to put a few small gifts under as well. :) Just a thought.

Btw, it worked out well for us. We didn't want to ship the tree home, so we just left it there for another DVC family staying at the Boardwalk (pre-arranged through the Dis!).

Hth!

Everyone has given you some great suggestions - We try to spend Christmas there every year. We always put up a tree in the room; take gifts down with us; decorate the room window; hang stockings(use 3m removable sticky hooks), use cinnamon scented potpouri (gets us in the mood) Christmas doormat outside our room, etc...I agree with having her write a letter to Santa telling him where she will be. The picture idea sounds like a good idea too.. We filled the stockings while the kids were asleep. They had several Santa gifts, plus the gifts from us to open on Christmas morning. Then when we got home after New Years, there is a whole new pile of gifts to open - from all of the aunts, uncles, grandparents and a few more from Santa. My mom goes to my house and sets it all up while we are gone. For them it was great - double Christmas. They are older and just pretend to believe in Santa for me.
Hope you have a great time. Christmas is the most magical time of year at Disney to me.

Our kids have presents that Santa brings and then they also have presents that mom and dad give them. We just divide up what we bought for them, although Santa usually gets more for the WOW factor. Maybe if Santa left the presents at their house, they'll be there when they get home and mom and dad can give them their presents from them at WDW.

We shipped the presents to the resort a couple of days before we arrived, and then had them held at the desk. Lots of people did that this year and the line at 11pm at the front desk was very very long. Nothing is more magical than Christmas at Disney. The kids almost did not care about he presents and just wanted to go to the pool!!!

We went for Chrsitmas 2 years ago and it was by far the BEST trip! We drove and took our gifts (most of them) with us and stayed in the FW cabins so we had enough room for a small tree and had Christmas as normal on Christmas morning. The kids did not get as much as they would of at home but could care less, the were at WDW on Christmas day what better gift then that!

OMGOOSH it sounds sooo wonderfull I want to go for christmas so bad!! We celebrate with Dh's family Christmas day and he said hed never miss!:sad1:
I hope we can go over christmas one day!
