what is the time span when the decs are up? How about the holiday parades? Do fireworks run during this time? I want to make a winter trip but I have never seen the fireworks over the castle.

I went a week before Thanksgiving a couple of years ago and many of the decorations were up. They still had the fireworks but I don't remember anything about the parades.

I went the week before Thanksgiving and the decorations were up and they were piping out christmas music. It was kind of weird actually.

Christmas at Disney is wonderful! We were there last year, and had such a good time. There is a special presentation of Wishes during the MVMCP with extra fireworks that is just amazing. Also, there is an added part to Illuminations (peace on earth) that is equally impressive. The Osbourne Lights are up at MGM, the decorations are so pretty, the Christmas Party is terrific...it really put us in the holiday mood. Definitely go! I wanted to go for the holidays again this year, but we ended up choosing November so we could get a third trip out of our APs and DDE.

I'm pretty sure the decorations go up the week before Thanksgiving. We were there the first week of December.

Everything Holiday related goes up around Thanksgiving. We have been there during the first week of December and everything was already decorated including special costumes for the characters and some of the attractions. The parades and such usually stick to the usual theme and schedule until the week of Christmas when everything (hours, parades, fireworks) to the new theme.

I can't speak for the parks, but at the hotel we stayed at, they were putting up the tree on November 1. It was so beautiful, and an extra treat because I didn't think they would put it up so early.

As others have said, decorations start going up around property early in November and there are many special events going on leading up to and through Christmas. Keep in mind, however, that the week of Christmas through New Years is the single busiest time of the year at WDW. Parks regularly close due to capacity crowds during this week and it is wall to wall people. It's also the most expensive time to go in terms of rooms rates and those reservations are in high demand.

It's great - but you have to know what you're in for and be prepared. If you're considering going this year, you may already be out of luck getting a room on site.

They start going up when the Halloween stuff ends. We arrived November 4th, hotels had the music going and some decorations. Parks - just smidges here and there - no music yet.

They come down early to mid January. It was all gone on Jan. 10th or 12th this year.

Kind of feel for the employees, having to listen to Christmas music for over 2 months...I think even I would get sick of it by then! :)
