So what special events take place over Christmas and New Year's Eve at the Fort and the parks?? Is there a NYE family party somewhere ?? Are there special parades or dinners or is it just business as usual ??

Every park has something special over Christmas and NYE. All the parks and resorts are decorated for the holidays and that alone is spectacular. MGM . MK,and AK have a holiday themed parades and MK has MVMCP on certain evenings. MGM has the Osborne lights and Epcot has the Candlelight Processional and also each pavillon has special presentations regarding the celebrations in their country.TH efireworks are also different during the Christmas-New Years holiday. Also some restaurants have a holiday menu featuring different Christmas traditional foods.
At the Fort a site decorating contest is held and many campers have their sites decorated. We always enjoy a bike ride/walk around to look at everyone's site. On Christmas eve they serve cookies and punch at the Meadow. Two years ago they had a NYE celebration at the BBQ pavillon but this year they did not. I'm sure I have forgotten something but overall the Disney Magic at Christmas is amazing!

All of the resorts have amazing decorations. Visit as many of the resort lobbies as you have time to. Don't miss fireworks at midnight NYE at Epcot. Haven't seen them at other parks, but probably great there too. This Yankee didn't think Christmas could be as good in Florida as it is in the snowy North. Boy, was I wrong!

Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Party. It's a big Christmas party that takes place at the Kingdom, it's great for kids, for anyone really.

I can tell you some about New Years. Well, I can tell you that if you want a family experience, I don't know if I would go to Epcot on New Years, I mean you can, but it's more geared towards the adult crowd (although we saw lots of kids last time we were there). They basically set up huge outdoor music stages at each country, and they play everything from country to salsa to techno. Also, because you can drink in Epcot, there is a lot more of that going on. The Magic Kingdom is probably your best bet for a "family" experience.

That being said, Epcot DOES have the best fireworks show on NYE, hands down. And they have it twice during the night, one at 10 PM and one at Midnight. Like I said, I saw lots of kids when were there 2 years ago, so it's not that you shouldn't bring kids, they'll still have fun, it's just how much of a family experience you want.

Epcot sounds like fun....I just wanted don't want to take them to an adult only party full of drunks and half dressed people, kwim ?? It doesn't have to be a character thing either as they will be 14,12 and almost 8 by the time we go again, sigh ;) [There is still a chance we could go next Easter again instead...but I can't think of a better place to bring in Christmas and NYE than WDW.] I was hoping they would have a NYE celebration with fireworks and music somewhere other than the clubs in Downtown Disney.

Oh yea, then you'll love Epcot on New Years, I've been lots of places for New Years, and I have to say Epcot was probably the most amazing New Years I've ever had.

It's amazing how decked out the place is, and the amount of music and fun that can be had! There are people drinking, but I didn't really notice lots of people falling down drunk at all, if your kids are that old they probably would have a great time.

Yea, I would definitely go to Epcot then, to me there is nothing in Disney that compares on NYE.

Our children were 12,10, and 8 last year and enjoyed Epcot. We left after the 10 p.m fireworks. I would caution anyone going with small children that the park is EXTREMELY CROWDED and very loud with people blowing noisemakers etc. Shanonne 1 sorry about the MVMCP but thanks Colson39 for clarifying my lazy typing habits!:lmao: We have never tried MK or MGM on NYE. I would be interested in hearing about other's experiences.

Boomer is right, it is EXTREMELY packed on NYE, that is probably the busiest I have ever seen Epcot, I'm talking wall to wall people.
