Christmas all year long!

I really love your game ...... need to play as long as I can. It looks like I might be absent for 4 weeks soon! :rotfl2:
And now that I know that you have got Austrian roots, it's an honour playing it! :goodvibes
Where are your grandparents from?

:rotfl: what? is it like you have a super trip coming up and would rather do that than play my game? :rotfl2:

As for my family heritage. My mother's family (both her mom and dad side) are from what was Yugoslavia. My uncle though argues about it...since the area they came from was Austria at the time. He says they are not Yugoslavian...but Austrian. Course... now it is something else. Mom has cousins there...but I am not sure where they live. I know with all the turmoil that way they moved about a bit. I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to either History or Geography...so... But... to me all their names sound very slovic. soooo... I would assume not actually Austrian but more eastern European. ( Erbeznik, Uderman, Salokar)

How do I keep missing your pictures...dang it! I have been lazy all Sunday stalking DIS! :confused3

Sorry, Tammie. Karin was super quick. Maybe tomorrow you will get it. I have a feeling it will be pretty late in the day that I get to it though. I had hoped to go out to get some work done this afternoon, but instead we are doing a 4th of July celebration since Zoe will most likely be in the hospital on the fourth. So.... I will have to get more done for work tomorrow.

Ok, so as I realize I am likely to be booking a flight that will leave me in florida just a bit longer than the guys... I also realized that this would mean Zoe and I could go to the Garden View Tea room. It does not take the dp, so doing this right before we leave is perfect! So after the guys catch their DME bus, Zoe and I will head over to GF for a late afternoon tea. :goodvibes

MIL just called Steve. :headache:

Do you all remember 5 months ago...Christmas in FL... a trip to WDW and then to the beach to spend time with the inlaws. Then the inlaws decided no... I made bunches of changes and finally made some airfare arrangements that locked us in on very different dates than what we originally planned? Hmm.. well, yes... we made changes to our plan and the changes I have fretted over for the first part of this year are all ones I am more than happy about.

So back to MIL calling Steve. Guess what she wants to know. She wants to know our dates. Why? Why would she care when she wasn't going? Oh yes... because they have changed their minds. :confused3 Steve changed the subject though since he knew that I have us set. He left the conversation noting that "yes, we had planned to be there over Christmas. However, airfare prices were ridiculous so we changed. "

So now I dont know if Steve is going to want to bail on Disney and head down to Sarasota for a couple days. When I asked him he said he didn't want to commit to anything since his parents are likely to change their plans again. Plus, he said, only if the weather was stellar would he want to be down on the beach.

I think they should drive up to Orlando. That is what I think. They can work around our plans. What do you all think? Sounds good, eh? :rotfl: Hopefully I can convince all of them that it is a good plan too.

Good grief. Trying to make everyone happy is not going to be easy. Zach definitely wants to go for a week. Kira wants to go but can't see being able to afford it. Josh thinks we should just let Kira come, but let her stay in our room. (I keep trying to explain to him that the room is for 4 people... I think he thinks if you are there... then it is all covered...and all you have to do is show up.)

I can see the next 5 months are going to get complicated.

Wow... I can't believe all the stuff that is being thrown your way... Oh wait YES i can.. Don't you just love the in laws:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:... You gave them plenty of time before you made your plans in stone and with the air-fare not going down you did the right thing by getting your plane tickets before the price became to high.. I agree with you if they want to be there with you guys in DW they need to work around your schedule... Good luck with everything..

On a side note sorry I haven't been reading much lately but we have been in pre-evac mode with the wild fires that are near us.. I only live like 8 miles away from one of the three that we have here in AZ.. But thank GOD that all the pre-evac notices has expired for us.. Hope to get back to reading regularly every day again..

 Of course MIL has changed her mind... but Steve is probably right, she'll change again.

I hope you're able to accommodate everyone, without too much hassle!!

:headache: Oh my goodness! I knew as soon as I saw the first line of your post what it was going to be about! I, too, agree that they should come up to Orlando! :thumbsup2

I'm terrible... my MIL asked me this past weekend, they were here for a visit, if we had any big vacations planned for this summer and I told her no, which is true! :goodvibes However, I did not mention our surprise trip - mostly because it's a surprise and we've managed to make it for 6 months in keeping it that way! Only 5 and half more to go! :goodvibes But I also didn't mention it because I'm going to be in the same boat as Tammie - while we are going to be home on Christmas Eve afternoon - we will be at our house and normally we go out to theirs the weekend before Christmas of which we will be in WDW! :rolleyes1 My parents are aware and think it's great - DH's parents won't 'get it.' BUT we are doing this for our family, our kiddos, and are very excited about it! :yay:

Hang in there... stick to your guns and don't try to please everyone. You have had a crazy year, Ann, and remember you deserve this trip! And it should be about celebrating Zoe's successful surgery she's going to have, and you being able to absorb and embrace your happy place!

Just catching up and I had a couple of comments.

When you were looking at SW airfare and adding 1 ticket was less per person than adding 2 tickets, that is because there was only 1 seat left at the lower rate. When that happens and you try to book 2 seats, it will add the prices together and average them to give you a per-person rate that actually doesn't exist in their system. Does that kinda make sense?

Also, I wanted to add - don't fret if you have to check all those bags just you and Zoe. What I'd recommend is using a hotel shuttle, Josh or a friend taking you to the airport, and do curb-side check-in. It is free, but they expect tips. We generally tip $1-2 per bag. So for maybe $10 in tips, you check in outside and don't have to go through the regular check-in with all of your bags. I think that would save you a lot of grief and you wouldn't have to rent a cart, etc. I like the option of the non-stop flight, myself. But either way works. If you do the day before, you will get a good nights rest that night of arrival.

Catching up here ...

I would prefer taking the flight on the 9th not just for the help with the luggage, but you would be there a whole day earlier, KWIM? But if the SW rates aren't working, I agree with PP and use curbside check-in. It is usually faster than waiting in the queue lines as well.

About the in-laws ... uggh! I wouldn't make any definite plans with them until a week or so before departure and that should include them driving to Orlando!

:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:Glad to have someone else on MIL naughty list! Not sure when I am ever going to mention this trip to her and our plans.

SERIOUSLY?!?!

:grouphug: I think you need one great big group hug Ann! If it was me, I would probably have gone off on MIL...(although I say that, dream that, but have never done that). I agree that Steve is probably right that they will change their minds...but it still is mind blowing! Your flights and plans are made...if they want to join in they should come to Orlando...but then again it might not be a happy place for you then!

:thumbsup2 Mom and daughter tea at the GFC sounds fab! Zoe will love it! :goodvibes

Oh my gosh, Ann, is she for real? I am sorry she is your DH's mother, but do these people understand that you have made plans and checked things out and now they want to come too?
I really hope she changes her mind again and you can stick with your plans!

This is why I would NEVER make any plans with my MIL. First, she thinsk Disney is stupid and doesn't understand our love of it; I truly believe she hates kids (not sure how she ended up having two) and she drives me AND her own son nuts!

Ann, don't let this be a downer for you. Stick to your plans, and I hope Steve does too.

AMEN SISTA!!! TO think that you should have to avert your plans, change flights, etc just to squeeze them in... uh uh, no way jose... Ann stick to your guns and your plans. you need these :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:

i am so overly glad my MIL hates Disney, doesnt get Disney and wont ever want to go to Disney (or so we pray), because if i had to deal with her i would pull my hair out.
