Christmas all year long!

Oh Ann, I am so sorry to hear about all of this...
that encounter with the cop just seems so WRONG! I hope you can get it all cleared up as quickly as possible.

I am nervous to hear about your Mom and the Dr...

Thanks so much, Joyce... I am sure I will get it taken care of easy enough.

And... for today...

Got up and drove to pick up my mom. We had a nice breakfast and then went up to her appointments. She was really not feeling well and having a particularly hard time.

I am not sure how much I shared on my PTR or TR from the September trip... but mom is 71 and struggles. About 4 years ago there was an accident at work and she since has not been able to work due to mobility issues, vision issues and seizures. One would think L& I would cover this... but they didn't. Her trip to Seattle was set up because she got a lawyer and persistence has made L&I reevaluate her claim.

So she was set for 3 appointments today. Zoe and I knew we would be doing a lot of waiting, but we brought entertainment for Zoe so all was good there.

First appointment was to see a neurologist. Second and orthopedic. Third and Ophthalmologist. The first two were in the morning. They were not really all that helpful and my mom felt a bit discouraged. We had lunch and then the last appointment came. Well, it turns out that a likely cause for her impaired vision on one side... there is a mass behind her eye. She has been complaining of "sparks of light" in that eye. Now, I figure it must be pressure on the optic nerve. Ya know.. like when you push on your eye? The eye doesn't know how to interpret the pressure. I can't see how this mass could be from an injury... but... now it looks like she will have to have surgery. I hope it is nothing serious, but it has me worried nonetheless.

After the appointment, I drove and we had coffee while her eyes returned to a somewhat normal state. Then it was time to drop her off at the airport. She had to have assistance to get to the gate since.. well, she is pretty much blind at this point in that eye.

It was so nice to see her, but I worry. I get agitated...I am a fighter (see my post regarding yesterday) Mom isn't a fighter. She kinda is a "giver upper" ;) She talked today of how she thinks she only has a couple years left. It makes me sad... But what can I tell her other than no. :confused3

So... that has been my last few days... and on to the rest of the week I go. Will I survive??? :confused3:confused3

;);)

Oh Ann, wow, that is a tough couple of days. That cop was WAY out of line and obviously looking to get a ticket on the books! I could call him a few very choice words...:mad:

and i am sorry about your mom and the potential surgery, I hope she feels better and things go smoothly :hug:

:grouphug::grouphug::grouphug: I think you need a number of these Ann!!

I'm so glad you are a fighter, everyone needs someone to fight for them, your mom included. You can be her rock now, as I'm sure she was when you were young. :)

wonder if the cop had a quota that he had to meet at the end of the month?! :rotfl2: Seriously, I don't know why he should be allowed to be confrontational to you! And not letting you explain yourself or believing you. I have NO words.... other than a few that I probably shouldn't say out loud! :rotfl:

Hope your next few days get better. :goodvibes

Ugh! That incident with the cop has me all frustrated and annoyed. Seriously where does he come off telling you what he saw without actually seeing it? for getting through that without calling him any bad names.

Sorry about all the goings on with your mom. Doesn't sound like it helps much with all the hours DH is working. I still think Zoe is the cutest thing.

I'm not sure if I can go in December anymore. I was looking at my cousin's break and its right in the beginning of Spring Break time, or I could take her in January when its slower..... Ummm January it is! But that means I miss out on seeing you!

Hey, I am sorry that you had a last couple of hard days! Hope that they get better! thank you for explaining the pins!

:goodvibes Thanks so much. He was out of line... but I did have an expired insurance card. (I do have insurance..just had not put this term's card in my wallet) I am good friends with a wife of a city council member. When she told her dh what happened, he insisted I contact the chief of police and have a chat with him. I probably will.

As for mom, I think knowing that there is honestly something going on and that she is not just losing her mind has put her in better spirits. Now we just wait.

:goodvibes Thank you for your kind words, yes... yesterday (although busy) was much better. I slept in a bit and even though I spent a full day out for work, I also took a bit of time to have lunch with a friend. It was awesome!

I know.. it was weird. He "thinks" he saw something. What he saw was me sitting at a light, tired, with my head resting on my hand and my elbow resting on the window ledge. He was behind me too... so obviously he couldn't have had a good view.

Sorry about all the goings on with your mom. Doesn't sound like it helps much with all the hours DH is working. I still think Zoe is the cutest thing.

Thank you so much :goodvibes I love my dh completely and forever will. He works hard and makes good money so I can't complain. I just wish he could pull his head away from his computer a bit. (sometimes he is so "into" what he is working on he doesn't go into the office and works from home.. heck.. lately this is MOST of the time:rotfl:)

And thank you... I still think Zoe is pretty cute too. :goodvibes

:sad2: Oh this makes me sad... but I completely understand! I will look forward to hearing about your January trip! :goodvibes

Man! I miss out on A LOT of happenings it seems here lately! Sorry it's been so crazed in your part of the world!

If anyone ever deserved this upcoming Christmas trip - I have to say it's you! Did you ever figure out what the deal was with the dress fitter being MIA when you and Kira went? :confused3

What a crazy episode with the pullover! Yikes! I hope your days get better soon- meantime, sounds like your mom needs a fighter on her side. Glad you are willing to be that for her!

Ann...hugs to you and lots of pats on the back for not losing your patience with that cop (probably would have gotten myself in jail had he talked to me that way). I sure hope you make that call to your councilman...totally uncalled for!!! Yes you had expired insurance, but surely there is a little grace period!

Hugs for Zoe and your mother...between Zack leaving and the wedding...WOW you have a lot going on. I sure hope you are taking some time for yourself! Maybe an extra grey goose in epcot! ;)

Thanks so much :goodvibes for the kind words... as for the dressmaker.. she has never called back. I should call her... I just have had a busy few days.

I will be here for my mom the best I can. Unfortunately, she lives on the other side of the state. Luckily, she has a good support network over there.

I actually didn't have expired insurance. I have never had my insurance expire. I just forgot to put my updated card in my wallet and still had last periods card. So, I still had proof of insurance. He was just being knit picky.

Yes, lots going on for sure. I can't wait to get through to July. I know it is only April... but I have about a month till the wedding and right after the wedding is Zoe's surgery. Deal with that... and all of a sudden it is July. I will be making ADR's before I know it!

Time for myself... I take a moment or two here on Dis. Oh.. and I did find a hard cranberry apple cider that I opened up tonight. It isn't too bad. Not amazing.. but kinda interesting.

sometimes i honestly think that SOME cops give you a hard time on purpose. it is an abuse of power or either He was trying to give you a ticket because they havent made ther quota! i hope u get it straighten out!

Sounds like you have had a few interesting days.
I can't believe the cop gave you such a hard time. I really cannot fathom how he wouldn't be able to tell you weren't wearing contacts, I mean...gosh, it's like he's never heard of them before.

Sorry about the news of your mom needing surgery. She seems like a trooper though for being able to go with you guys on your last trip even though she's having a hard time.

Where is Kira's PTR? I'd love to read it!!

It is such a small town... I can't imagine they have quotas... but he did have an attitude so maybe he just had a bad night.

It was as though he didn't know what contacts were. It was weird.

Mom was a trooper then. I think that she was doing better then than she is now. I know her sight has got progressively worse... :sad2:

Ok, so a brief update on the trip planning.

Still watching airfare.

Still thinking I need to change dates.

So on the airfare... I got an email from a hotel point membership that I have (every time I stay at a hotel I sign up for their rewards program). Low and behold, I have about 7k in points. :scared1:  At 10k you can transfer to a airline milage plan and get 2k. There are ways to earn more points with the hotel without staying... one of which is to purchase FTD flowers. Well, it just so happens that Kira's bouquet that she wants is an FTD one. AND for ordering it... it would give me 3500 points. Ok... so that there would take me up to 10k. Then to "buy" 2k in mileage. That pushes us that much closer to the 2 free tickets I was hoping to get. :woohoo:

On the dates.... I am really conflicted. On one hand... if both Kira and Zach are away... then having a quiet holiday away might be nice. However, if they both are in town... then I would feel as though I abandoned them. To complicate matters... there are issues of santa and midnight mass. In some ways, it would be doable to have Santa drop of gifts on the balcony. Problem is... transporting and then wrapping. I guess we could ship them down, couldn't we? It isn't like Santa gives a ton... just 3...and they are usually smallish sized gifts. I still hate to miss mass... but... there have been years we missed it for one reason or another. (often times due to illness) Which, brings me to my next issue... Steve's health. Last holiday season we spend it in and out of emergency rooms. Historically, he tends to go into a sort of remission with his Chron's during the spring and early summer months. Then he hits work hard and by fall/winter he is completely done in. As "non committal" and "uninvolved" as dh's can be with the disney trip planning.. he is being more so since he may not even feel up to being in FL. So for right now I just will accept that I will be pulling my hair out trying to decide. The cost does factor in (staying over The 24th and 25th adds quite a bit)... but really, the other things I mention weigh more heavily on me. I think once I get airfare squared away, I will make my decision. I think that will happen once sw and jet blue release their fares for those dates.

I got the last message from Zach for a while. He has shipped again and no longer will have his phone or computer. What was his last message???

Zach.jpg

He is dead center back row.

Ahhh...makes me proud and they are not even my sons! I see you making a bunch of cookies and shipping them soon!

I love the picture! I hope that everything that's going on with the government doesn't take too much of a toll on him, I know that both of my brothers will hurt as they are the support in the families! As far as not sending food:confused3.... We have my son's class ship cards they make over every few months and Christmas we shipped oreos and chips ahoy (I was worried about shipping baked goods)! I know that there is a weight limit that you have to follow and only through the post office can you ship! But maybe he just feels a little shy to? Not sure!
That's AWESOME about the points that you got from the hotel and tying it into the wedding so you win both ways! Will DH take it easy during the late summer and fall so that he doesn't get sick in the winter? I am sure things will fall into place! :goodvibes
