Hello :wave2:

I came across this excellent forum whilst looking for info regarding an upcoming DLP trip and thought it would be a good place to get some help with my plans. I've been reading through the posts, as well as other sites, and my head is spinning with information. Hopefully someone here will be able to look at what I'm planning and give me some pointers or tell me i'm mad and to forget about it!

A little bit of background first. We're a family of six. Mum (30), Dad (30), Daughter (11), Son (8), Son (4), Daughter (3). We went to DLP as a family in early 2010 and stayed at the Sequoia Lodge. We had two rooms which was ok although we'd have liked to have all stayed together in one room.

Anyway, this year we've decided to do something different for Xmas and have (provisionally) decided on DLP. The idea is to travel via Eurostar on Xmas Eve and return on the 27th. We wouldn't tell the kids until we are on our way.

I've spent ages online and have decided that staying at Adagio Marne-la-Vallée Val d’Europe wouldn't be a bad idea. For those of you that don't know, Adagio Marne-la-Vallée Val d’Europe is one of the Disney partner hotels (is that the correct term?) and is made up of self catering apartments with a little kitchenette etc. Cost for the three nights is approx £350 and looks ideal for our needs, both in terms of accommodation size and the free shuttle bus to the parks. Has anyone got any experience of Adagio Marne-la-Vallée Val d’Europe? Would you recommend it for our needs or would you recommend somewhere else?

That's the accommodation side of things out the way so onto the parks. I guess the main question is how busy do the parks get on xmas day and boxing day? I'm also trying to decide whether to buy one day or two days of park tickets. I guess i could buy the one day, two parks ticket before we go and then buy an extra day whilst we're there if we decide we need it. Any thoughts?

Eurostar. Am i right in thinking that if i buy the tickets as soon as they are released i'll pay £69 for an adult return and £49 for a kids return and the longer i leave it the more expensive they'll get?

I think that's about it as far as the main questions go. Below is a very(!!) brief itinerary of how i think things will work. I'm not thinking about mealtimes at the moment although i imagine we'll end up eating breakfast in the apartment (i hear there is a supermarket very near to Adagio Marne-la-Vallée Val d’Europe) and a main meal in the evenings with something light in between.

24th - travel by Eurostar, arrive at hotel, unpack etc, shuttle to Disney village, spend evening in village (shopping, dinner etc), back to hotel.

25th - xmas presents in morning, shuttle to parks, spend day in parks, back to hotel late.

26th - possibly spend another day in the parks

27th - train into Paris to see Eiffel Tower, then eurostar home.

Quick breakdown of price.

Hotel £350
Eurostar £354
Park tickets £350/£700 (depending on number of days/parks)
Food, shopping, other expenses etc i'll worry about at a later date.

To me, it seems quite reasonable for a few days away over christmas.

Apologies for the wall of text and a massive thank you if you've read this far.

What have i not thought of? What do you think? Is there a better way of doing things? Any advice will be gratefully received!

Hello!

I remember reading a trip report from last Christmas and the person was saying that on Christmas day it is quite busy, from what I remember around an average of 20-30 minute waits on rides. Possibly longer.

I think it is much cheaper to buy your park tickets online than in the parks, so if I was you I would buy the tickets online and get 2 days, but it really depends on your personal needs. You could see a lot of the parks in one day, but certainly not everything, especially if Christmas day is quite busy.

I could be wrong (and I'm sure another member on here will be able to guide you correctly) But I think it may work out cheaper for you if you bought a deal through disney, with one of their onsite deals. It might be worth working out exactly how much staying offsite will cost you (including park tickets etc) and then how much it would be to stay onsite, as you can get deals that include eurostar, park tickets, onsite hotel and sometimes even food etc. So yeah I'd definitely suggest comparing these two prices!

You're also correct about eurostar, it will go higher in price the longer you leave it, the prices you've put so far are what they should be if you get them early on.

Apologies for not being a huge amount of help, but hopefully it's given you some guidance until someone else comes along to offer some help :)

Have a lovely trip in December! We're also going during December, however will be going a couple of weeks before you, it is the best and loveliest time to go in my opinion, so I'm sure you'll have a lovely time!

I have no experience of going over Christmas, but I would give Eurostar a call as soon as possible and find out how much the tickets would ACTUALLY be as they've been released already I believe??

But yes, price up a few options for park tickets. 2 day park tickets, and how much that would cost on top of your hotel, and then similar for Cheyenne or Santa Fe with the hotel and tickets included. There's somewhere online you can go for good price 2 day tickets I BELIEVE but I'm sure someone else can help you with that as I'm not sure where it is!

C x

They're not available yet - my sister and I are going on the 15th until the 19th and we can't book at the moment.
