Today was our plan for Typhoon Lagoon. We were ready for it having been so hot the day before and after touring two parks already. Typhoon Lagoon is my favorite water park of the two Disney water parks. I love it's setup and it's easy to get around. We arrived at the 9:00 a.m. opening and proceeded to find a nice, shady spot surrounding the wave pool. Then we headed over to the new water rides at TL--The Crush'n Gusher (or something like that). There was a very short wait and we were able to ride all three slides very quickly. Then DS and I went over into the wave pool while everyone else went their separate ways. We then did the family raft ride and a few tube slides. I spent the rest of the time lounging in a beach chair. We did order kid's meals here for lunch, which are more than enough. Plus, we were leaving to go to the tea. Around 2:15 it started to look ominous, so we headed out. As we were driving back to the hotel, we had a very short shower--the first of only two that we would have for the whole trip. We all tried to hurry up and shower, but the girls couldn't get ready in time to make it to our 3:40 PS for tea. DH didn't want to go, so just me, my parents, and DS headed to the tea. I instructed DH to "find a place to eat dinner" for that evening as we had no PS.
We had to wait a few minutes to be seated. The tea was full and there were no available tables. We were seated closer to 4:00. Now last trip when I went to tea, I ordered the Buckingham Palace. That was a lot of food and I made myself sick trying to do that and have dinner. All I REALLY wanted were the scones anyway. These scones are the best I've had anywhere, which includes the Ritz-Carlton tea in Washington, DC. I've never been to England so I can't compare these to "real" scones, but these at the GF are good. So, I order a pot of tea ($3.00) and a plate of scones with cream and jam ($3.50). I wished I had ordered two plates, but no need to be a glutton. My parents did likewise and we all had three different types of tea to taste. My DS ordered the Ms. Potts tea service which technically comes with chocolate milk and not tea. But, he is a hot tea lover and they had no problems giving him a pot of tea. The service also comes with a ham and cheese, tuna salad, and PB&J sandwich. He can not have peanut butter, so they gave him two ham and cheese sandwiches and one tuna salad. But they will give you any combo you want. I tasted his and the tuna salad is fantastic. And there's nothing like nice, fresh white bread with no crusts!! Very good. His meal was $8.50 and well worth the price. At the end, he got to pick two pastries from the tray. He picked a chocolate eclair and a mousse filled swan. He was a bit limited with his nut allergy but there is always something to choose from. The whole process took about one hour. My DS, though, was really like a bull in a china shop. The cups were so dainty (he is used to mugs). Then, he wanted to eat a sugar cube which I said "okay." He started to pull it out of the bowl with his fingers and I said "NO, USE THE TONGS". He then picks up a sugar cube with the tongs and pops the darn thing in his mouth using the tongs. Gosh, I was embarrassed. We were definitely having some manners lessons going on. By the way, he was one of three younger boys in the tea room. Funny, I didn't see any little girls there. Also, everyone was very casually dressed. More so than I remember from previous trips, but still there were no swimsuit type attire or exercise wear attire. The women were wearing tanks tops as well as one or two of the boys. I think all the men did have on polo-type shirts.
When we got back to the room, DH and the girls had made a PS for Restaurant Marrakesh over at Epcot for 6:15. We decided to drive over there as to avoid that long walk to the Poly and then the long monorail ride. As soon as we hit Epcot, we decided to do Spaceship Earth. There was no wait and we walked on. I can't figure out why, but several of us got a little queasy on this ride. Even DH who rode Mission Space with no problems.
So by the time I got to dinner, I was burping up my tea and scones and not feeling too wonderful. I decided not to order a full meal and just get the combo appetizer for two (which consists of a small salad, beef brewats and chicken in pastry crust). I had heard people on the DIS comment that the beef brewat was good. Everyone else ordered some type of shish kebabs. While we waited the belly dancer came out. DS was terrified she would approach him, but she didn't. A few brave kids got up and danced with her. By the way, this restaurant was not crowded and never got crowded the whole time we were there. Finally our food came. I will say, I did NOT like my food at all. Just not my thing. I had a bite of the chicken shish kebab and it was very good. All in all, it was just a ho-hum meal. We left and walked around World Showcase. I had planned to sample some of the desserts and Norway (Kringla Bakery) but when I got there, nothing appealed to me. We stopped in the Japanese pavillion and I bought some Japanese soda with the little glass ball in the bottle. We lived in Japan for four years and fondly remember these beverages, so it was nice to have a taste of the past. The kids really enjoyed them too. I wish I had bought some placements I had seen there, but didn't do it. We then headed over to Test Track while getting Mickey Bars on the way over. All of a sudden, my DS (10) panicked when he thought we might go on Test Track. I don't know why. He went on it when he was 6. He was very scared then and he got so nervous standing in line he vomited in line (sorry) and we had to leave. A cast member saw us and let us get on the ride the back way so that DS didn't have to wait again. But, I digress. We got up to Test Track and there is over an hour wait for Standby plus the Fast Pass was VERY late. We figured we'd have to do it another day. Just then, a nice couple came by and offered us their Fast Passes. So DS and I took the passes while the rest of the group did single rider (25 minutes wait). As we were standing in line, DS says "my stomach hurts." I told him it was just nerves. He then says "I think I'm going to throw up." NOT AGAIN!! I quickly take him back through the line to leave and he barely makes it. We get right to the end of the line and he loses it. Tosses up his Mickey Premium Bar. Yuck. Again, gets it on my shoes and all over him. Now he feels better and wants to go back on but I tell him that we can't take him on smelling like that--it wouldn't be fair to the people in line. Oh, this child of mine. We had to wait until the others came off the ride and then we went home.
Spent the rest of the evening doing laundry at the SoG...
Tomorrow we go to the Magic Kingdom and Artist Point.
