Christian.....

That's the main thing I don't like about Religion. They all say they're the one true religion, and if you don't follow that one, then you'll go to Hell, or have a similar fate...

::yes::

Yep, that's a problem I have, too. It's not unthinkable, imo, that God would have wanted us to have many different ways to reach him, to be with him and understand him, and that's how we ended up with so many different religions. It's also quite plausible in my mind that humans, being as they are, are responsible for all the doctrines insisting that their group is correct, and everyone else is wrong. People need to feel that way, like to feel that they're superior or they have justification for going to war or taking over other cultures... religion's a good excuse, but all that's gotten us is millennia of Us VS. Them. And I'm thinking that perhaps God would rather we leave each other alone, would rather we accept that maybe the others have a chance at salvation, too. :sad1:

I know loads of Christians that swear... Strangely it's more of a sin if you use the Lord's name in vain, then swearing...

I don't understand this, either... the Ten Commandments are supposed to be the ultimate rules God set down, yes? But you don't see people trying to get legislature passed saying that no one is allowed to work on the Sabbath, the way they do with other sins the Bible mentions. And I don't really get it. :|

Oh wow, a lot of people have different opinions, but the one I agree with the most, is jacensolo3. That is who hit it right on the nail. Wow, way to GO jacensolo3! LOL! You are a smart guy.
I know that everyone has different opinions, and I'm not going to bash anyone, so I won't say too much. But just to let you know, there is a Heaven and Hell...both. And I'm pretty sure you don't want to go to Hell.
And the only people who go to heaven, are the ones that ask Christ into their hearts and believe in him!

its not exactly up to you who gets into heaven and who doesnt.
please dont take this tone with everyone here.

you believe what you believe, and i believe what i believe, and we dont have to agree, but you have to be respectful of the beliefs of others.

youre stepping on toes. either debate maturely and respectfully or you'll lose your privilege to debate at all.

Wow. This thread blew up when I left for an hour...

Ok, so I don't believe in Christ/God. It's just the way I was raised (please, don't blame my parents. My dad was raised Roman Catholic, and my mom raised Christian, but turning out to be athiest) I know people probably don't particularly...care for the fact that I don't believe, but understand that it's my beliefs. I respect yours, so please respect mine?

*steps off of soap box*

Shelby and Sonya have said it well: By saying "I believe...*gist goes here*" before your posts, you will make things seem nicer and not as pushy/rude. I'm not directing this at anyone in particular, just something to keep in mind.

i am a christian i was born and raised Southern Babtist!
i do believe in god and pray sometimes but i do not go to church.
my relationship with god has grown since the death of my grandfather.
I BELIEVE if u dont believe Jesus is gods son u are doomed to hell. but who knows what will happen when he returns

I'm a Christian (Methodist, to be more exact), but am open to other religion's beliefs as well. Honestly, and please don't bash me for this, I believe that ALL religions are connected in one way or another.

As in, if someone was brave enough to grab every bible and religious scroll of every single last religion ever created and took the time to read through them and piece them all together, they'd eventually be able to find a bunch of simularities. Kind of like a giant puzzle, really.

And I believe that everyone will go to Heaven as long as they lead a good life. In my opinion, if a person doesn't kill anyone or do something ABSOLUTELY ZOMG AWEFUL during their life time, God will be able to forgive them and allow them to go to Heaven. Sure, he may lift an eye brow when they get there and be all "So....you didn't believe in me huh? Believe in me now?" But is he really so mean, that he'd send an innocent person to hell just because they were questioning the exsistance of someone they couldn't see? They're only human. No one is perfect. In my opinion, I honestly don't think God and Jesus are that cruel.

I'm a registered Catholic, but I don't believe 99% of it.
I consider a Christian anyone who follows and practices their Christian faith.
If I end up in Heaven, I probably ended up dying on one of my better days.

I'm a practicing Catholic
I strongly believe in Christ and heaven and hell.
But Christians are supposed to be accepting of everyone.
So to me it doesn't matter if you believe or not.
I believe we were all created by God and your beliefs don't change that.

Yes, I'm a Christian. A Christian is someone who follows Christ. Jesus Christ is the Son of God. God was, is, and will always be. He created the universe and all in it. In the beginning when God created man (Adam), He decided to create woman(Eve) from the man. Satan is a fallen angel. He was the Heavenly music leader. He was the most beautiful angel, but he wanted to be better, and more powerful than God. So God cast Satan down to earth. The Bible says that Hell is in the center of the earth. Hell is Satan's domain. And so, when Adam and Eve were tempted by Satan(who disguised himself as a serpent) to eat the fruit that God told them not to(in the Garden of Eden), sin was created and now that's why we ALL sin. NO ONE is perfect, Christian or not. But, we try to be as like Jesus as we can. We all make mistakes. And there is NO is greater than another. Murder is a sin, just as telling a fib, and both are equal (in the sense that both are sin). Of course murder is much worse than lying, but they are both equally sin. The Bible also says, that whoever calls upon the name of Jesus Christ, shall be saved. But if you die in your sin ( in other words, die without believing Jesus died on the cross to wash away our sins, and or don't believe in Him.) you will go to Hell. I think that when we die unsaved that Jesus gives us mercy. He might give us one more chance to accept Him into our lives, but that's something I really don't know. Whether we're saved or not, He has major compassion, (I mean he must love us alot, since he was nailed to a cross). But if we walk in His ways, and believe in Jesus Christ, we will be eternally with Him in Heaven. I'll say that I believe all of this, because it is in the Bible. The Bible is God's Holy Word in which he spoke through the disciples to write. Please do not say any of this is BS, because that is the most horrid thing I've ever heard. I would never say that about anything someone believes. It's just wrong to say that about what someone believes. There is so much more to say, but I'll leave it at this, for now.

Please don't bash me, I'm not saying you have to believe this, but it's all the truth, to me.

I'm Christian.
Episcopalian, technically.
I go to Catholic school.

I don't believe everything in the bible. It's mostly a storybook with stories meant to explain things.
Do you know how many times that book has been translated?
Enough so whatever's in there is definitely not directly from the mouth of God.

I believe there is a God, or at least something more than Earth.
But I don't believe if you don't spend your whole life praying, going to church and whatever you're going to hell.
I don't even know if I believe in Hell.

That was very well said!
I couldn't have said that any better!! I totally agree! Every word in that post you said is SO TRUE. :)
I believe in EVERYTHING you just said in that! :)

I'm episcopalian (a branch of christianity)

I believe that you can get to heaven even if you have committed a serious sin. You just need to acknowledge that you committed the sin.

I also believe in reincarnation. I think you go to heaven then after a while you can become reincarnated into whatever you want to be.

Honestly, heaven would get pretty boring after a while, because you cannot appreciate the good unless you know the bad

Thanks :) I just wanted to make clear what I believe ( and you as well ).

I am a christian and VERY proud.

I would get more into it, but im afraid i would find myself being on this thread 24/7.

I admit that I dont attend church as much as I want, but i really cannot STAND the people there.

They give me glares and want me to join the church band.

Ive actually tried it, and im terrible. I ruin everything.

I just want to worship God like the rest, not "play for god" like they want me to.

P.S.
I dont go because i dont like the people, i dont go because if my parents dont go, then there goes my ride to get there.

PLUS.
I dont believe in going to a place just to judge each others clothing.

Does anyone else LOVE Joel Osteen?
I love his sermons.
:)
Very happy guy.
Very amazing sermons.

Hey, I feel thst way sometimes too. I don't go to church every Sunday, either. I like Joel Osteen also! My mom watches him all the time!

I was baptised as protestant I believe.
But I know in my heart, I don't believe in most of it. I'm mostly not a Christian because I do not believe that Jesus did all of those things. To me, he was a man, no more, no less.
That's just how I feel.
Now, I'm not totally opposed to God though. I've been having a hard time figuring out whether I believe or not, sometimes it's a firm no, and then sometimes I find myself praying. It's odd..

My idea of heaven, which I've discussed with someone before...
It's somewhat like a second life. You're the same person, and you get that chance to see those who have passed before you. I remember (I don't remember who I 'm sorry) someone posted something their mother wrote about a child they lost during birth, and how up in heaven their past relatives were teaching her all sorts of things...
That's how I like to imagine it. You get that chance to live in a happier place with the ones you love.
And hell, well that's just not making it there.

i'm more spiritual rather than religious.
dont believe a good percentage of the bible, but i believe in the morals that it shows you.
And at the same time i believe in the morals that all religions teach you.

Really though, i have as much chance as ANYONE does as to being right about what happens in the "after life"
I believe you go to heaven & it is, well, heaven.
But your reincarnate & come down to earth with goals & lessons to learn.

i follow god.

call me what you will. i dont think labels and denominations are really all that necessary.

i dont believe everything in the bible.

i believe god endowed us with an internal moral compass, and our actions by that are what determine what happens after our death.
