what a day - p. keaggy

when i get home, i will see all the holy men i read about.
peter and john, james, luke, and paul, and brother tom without a doubt.
and i do believe there will be king david at the harp.
a song of praise with every chord.
what a sight to see, the redeemed and all the angels gathered round worshipping the lord.

what a day that will be
oh, what a day that will be!

when we get home, our eternal home, there'll be no more sick and dying.
no one is sad. no one is alone.
there will be no more crying. he will wipe away every tear from his children's eyes.
and put a smile upon their faces.
what a happy day when we seeour lord in paradise crowned as king of kings.

what a day that will be.
oh, what a day that will be.
what a day that will be.

what a day, what a day, what a day that will be.

what a day, what a day, what a day that will be.

what a day...

my prayers for the families of those that are in pain, may it be short, we know that there will be a day when there will be no pain or crying. what a day that will be.

You guys are THE BEST! I cannot express to you how much your words of comfort mean to me. And the song you posted, Phil is so great...my DH is a #1 Phil Keaggy fan and that song is one of his favorites. Thanks for reminding me of it.
And Jeanne, I just got chills when you said that Vinny is not having to "imagine" anymore...WOW! I am so happy for him.

At the same time I am numb-feeling and I have such an ache for him and his family. I can't even think about his sadness of having to leave them and their sadness at not having him here anymore. I know they will all be reunited again...I know we are all rejoicing in his life and in what he left behind as a testimony to the Greatness of his Heavenly Father! It is such a flood of mixed emotions that I know you can all relate to and I again I just have to say, "Thank You" for sharing in those feelings with me and Vinny's family, as brothers and sisters do, to ease the pain in the sorrow.

We can continually give thanks to the Father because He deserves it and because it is His WILL for us in Christ Jesus. What a wonderful place to be to be praising God in all circumstances.

If you think of it, pray that Vinny's testimony will be alive through this week of remembrance, to God's glory and for the sake of anyone who doesn't have the hope that Vinny had. And pray that forever in the hearts of those who loved him, He and His faith story will live on and stir people to trust in Jesus.

Hi Everyone!

I was going to go to bed early tonight, but my brain won't let me sleep. So I guess I will tell you a little bit about how my first day went at my N.A. class. We learned so much info. and did a few lab type things too today. My brain is on over load right now with all the info. that was given to us on our first day. In the lab part we learned how to wash and dry our hands the right way. Then we had to put on our gloves and then we had to learn how to take them off. We also did some height and weight measuring too and she even showed us how you measure someones height while they are laying in bed( that was neat to learn that). I am so glad tomorrow is Friday, so I will have a three day weekend to be able to go over my text books and study them.

Jilly, I am so sorry for the loss of your friend, Vinny. His family is in my prayers. Along with you too, Jilly.((hugs))

Jeanne, Welcome back! We missed you! I am glad you guys had a wonderful time together! And I will keep your friend in my prayers.

Our very own Sarah Sunshine just emailed me this picture... if you look closely at her name tag it says "Sarah is shining for Jesus". She is 4 in this picture.

This is holy ground
We're standing on holy ground,
For the Lord is present and where He is is holy,
This is holy ground
We're standing on holy ground,
For the Lord is present and where He is is holy,

We are standing
On holy ground,
And I know that there are angels all around,
Let us praise Jesus now,
We are standing in his presence,
on holy ground.

Sarah, thanks for telling us about your first day! I'm sure it is going to seem like SO much information at first (maybe always) but I know you are going to great! You are at such an exciting time in your life! ::yes::

The picture Jeanne posted of you is SOOOOOOO adorable!!! :teeth:

Morning everyone!

Love the songs you sang Furtree! ;)

So sorry to read of Vinny's passing, Jilly. :( My prayers and good wishes are with his girls and all his family. Sad. :( God speed, Vinny.

Glad I found this thread. It's so nice to see so many people of faith. You'll notice in my signature that I have bible verses. A quick story about why I have those particular verses. On October 14, 2001 my only child and dear sweet son Robby was diagnosed with leukemia. I won't go into how devistated my dw and I were, but I'm sure you can imagine. The following Sunday I was the liturgist at church and these verses were part of the liturgy. "Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. " Since that day, throughout all of Robby's treatment I have not worried about what his outcome was going to be. Yes I've had concerns, especially during some real down times, his having to spend Christmas in the hospital was one of them, but never worry. I've got complete faith in his doctors but more importantly the Lord. I know that what ever the outcome is, it will be His plan. And I'm grateful for every gift I've been blessed with.

BTW Robby is doing very well. He's on maintenance now and is leukemia free. If all continues to stay this way he'll be off of maintenance in February.

In keeping with all of the lyrics that are in this thread I'd like to add the following song by Los Lonely Boys. This song is actually being played on some top 40 and adult contemporary radio stations today. I apologize if this has already been added. I started to read all of the posts here, and got through the first 8 pages when I realized that there are 88 pages at this point.

Heaven

Save me from this prison
Lord help me get away
Cause only you can save me now
From this misery
Cause I’ve been lost in my own place
And I’m getting’ weary
How far is heaven
And I know I need to change
My ways of livin’
How far is heaven, Lord can you tell me
Cause I’ve been locked up way too long
In this crazy world, how far is heaven
I just keep on prayin’ Lord
Just keep on livin’, how far is heaven
Lord can you tell me, how far is heaven
I just got to know how far, how far is heaven
Lord can you tell me
(translated from Spanish)
(You that's in a higher place
Send me down a blessing)
Cause I know there’s a better place
Than this place I’m livin’, how far is heaven
And I just got to have some faith
And just keep on giving, how far is heaven
I just wanna know how far

Here is another worship song I wrote. It helps me be thankful everyday for all the things God has given me. Including the test and trials.

Thank You Lord

I want to thank You Lord for loving me
I want to thank You Lord for giving me
Everything I ever did need
I want to thank You for loving me

1. Strength to win the hardest fight
Comfort in the stormy night
Died for me with power and might
to be blameless in Your sight

I want to thank You Lord for loving me
I want to thank You Lord for giving me
Everything I ever did need
I want to thank You for loving me

2. Take away my fearful heart.
Cleanse it for a brand new start.
Replace the secrets of my heart.
With Your word and divine charge

I want to thank You Lord for loving me
I want to thank You Lord for giving me
Everything I ever did need
I want to thank You for loving me

Hello Uno! I'm so glad you found this thread, we're glad you're here! :)

I'm so sorry to hear that your son has leukemia, one of my brothers battled with this disease for 14 years, from the time he was 11 until he was 25. I will be praying for Robby and for you and your DW as well. I know it's very hard. Praise God that he is in a state of remission though! You have the best attitude and know where to put your trust and that makes all the difference! Thanks so much for the encouraging scriptures and for the song. :)

Another great song JJ, thank you for blessing us with this gift God has given you. :)

Thanks, princess: Sis! And just in case you are wondering who the little boy is in the picture with me, he is my cousin( on my dads side of the family). I am 4yrs. old and he is 3yrs. old in this picture. I thought it was so funny that we are both wearing yellow( they are just a little bit different shades of yellow) and what it said on my name tag!

Hi Everyone!

Well I am home from my 2nd day of my NA class and it went a lot better today! :) I think what helped was that the teacher that we had today was a lot better in the fact of going over things and explaining them a lot more in depth with us. I wish we could have her every day to teach us, but they have 4 different teachers teaching us on different days. We also got to have more time in the lab to try out different things that we just talked about in class, which really helped me because I am more of a hands on type person when it comes to learning. In the lab we learend how to wash someones hair while they are laying in bed and then we learend how to take the bedding off of the bed and then make the bed. And let me tell you it was really weird how we had to make the bed, I think it is going to take a little while for me to get the hang of it. We each had a partner to practice all this on, so that was really helpful and it made it more fun too!

Jeanne, thanks for posting the adorable picture of me! LOL

Fur, great songs you have been singing! ::yes::

:wave2: Uno and JJ I am so glad you both found us! ::yes:: And JJ, thanks for the great songs!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day! :)

Sarah, I'm glad you're enjoying your NA class! As a nurse, I can honestly say that I could not do my job to the fullest without the help of NAs! I appreciate you guys so much.

As far as making the beds is concerned, it will become second nature. Have you learned how to make an occupied bed yet - a bed with someone in it? It sounds impossible, but you'd be surprised how easy it becomes. And it's a really important thing to know. There are many patients who are on bedrest and aren't allowed out of bed, patients who are not alert and can't get out of bed, etc. So the sheets must be changed with them in the bed.

I hope you have tons of fun in your classes. Try your best to keep stress under your feet. If there is anything you don't understand or don't feel comfortable with, be sure to talk to your instructors. That's what they're there for!

No, not yet anyway. But I think we will be doing that on tues. or wed. I don't know how I am going to make a bed with someone in it, when I have trouble making the bed without someone it. Although like you said it will come second nature to do it after I get the hang of it. I think I am going to have to practice this on my own bed, maybe that will help me( even though my bed is different from the beds that I will be making).

Jen, Do you mind if I ask you how long you have been a nurse? And do you work in a hospital or a nursing home? And thanks for the info. and the tips!

You are so welcome! :)

I graduated from Nursing school in April 2003. I've been working as a nurse since June 2003. I work in a hospital on a heart floor. I love it!
Anytime you have any questions or want to talk, I'm here. :)

The Warrior Is A Child
Twila Paris

Lately I've been winning battles left and right
But even winners can get wounded in the fight
People say that I'm amazing
Strong beyond my years
But they don't see inside of me
I'm hiding all the tears
And they don't know that I go running home when I fall down
They don't know who picks me up when no one is around
I drop my sword and cry for just a while
'Cause deep inside this armor
The warrior is a child
Unafraid because His armor is the best
But even soldiers need a quiet place to rest
People say that I'm amazing
Never face retreat
But they don't see the enemies
That lay me at His feet
And they don't know that I go running home when I fall down
They don't know who picks me up when no one is around
I drop my sword and cry for just a while
'Cause deep inside this armor
The warrior is a child
And they don't know that I go running home when I fall down
They don't know who picks me up when no one is around
I drop my sword and look up for a smile
'Cause deep inside this armor
Deep inside this armor
Deep inside this armor
The warrior is a child

So sorry to hear about Vinny's passing, Jilly. Seems like he had been a part of my prayer list for so long. But we can rejoice that now he's healed and in heaven with Our Father.

Heard a great sermon last week -- all about the baton in a relay race and how the baton in our Christian lives that we carry has been touched by so many believers -- Moses, Noah, family and friends who have gone before -- and how they're all still cheering us on as we run and complete our races!

Enjoy the weekend and the holiday!
