Christian Music Thread

Me and my hubby bought a book that told the meaning of popular hymns it really great to learn the meanings of the songs.

hi happygirl, great to see you on another thread.

just wnet on a mission trip with my sonand other 4th and 5th graders to waco, worked with mission waco which does outreach to the poor and homeless in waco community. in waco 3 out of very 10 are poverty level. most communities average around 1 out of 8.

on sunday we had church under interstate 35 bridge across from baylor campus, with homeless and anyone that wants to come, it was fun and our kids were really touched by the whole experience.

it is great to see folks who are willing to move in among the less desirable neighborhoods in order to make a difference.

please pray for them as they do great things in that area.

Hi Nascar friend!!! Sending up prayers!!

Such a beautiful song!!!!!! Even without facing a crisis such as this, shouldn't our goal each day be to show our children what it means to be loved......really loved......unconditionally......just like God loves each of us.

What It Means To Be Loved / Mark Schultz

Wow. What a touching song. Thank you for sharing it. I am going to try to find it so I can listen to it.

I am currently reading Mary Beth Chapman's book, Choosing to See. It is an amazing book! I highly recommend it if any of you are looking for a book to read by the pool, on the beach, etc. as summer approaches. I am about halfway through now. I am at the part where the doctors just told them Maria has died from the accident.

Glorious Day
by Casting Crowns

One day when Heaven was filled with His praises
One day when sin was as black as could be
Jesus came forth to be born of a virgin
Dwelt among men, my example is He
Word became flesh and the light shined among us
His glory revealed

Living, He loved me
Dying, He saved me
Buried, He carried my sins far away
Rising, He justified freely forever
One day He’s coming
Oh glorious day, oh glorious day

One day they led Him up Calvary’s mountain
One day they nailed Him to die on a tree
Suffering anguish, despised and rejected
Bearing our sins, my Redeemer is He
Hands that healed nations, stretched out on a tree
And took the nails for me

One day the grave could conceal Him no longer
One day the stone rolled away from the door
Then He arose, over death He had conquered
Now He’s ascended, my Lord evermore
Death could not hold Him, the grave could not keep Him
From rising again

One day the trumpet will sound for His coming
One day the skies with His glories will shine
Wonderful day, my Beloved One, bringing
My Savior, Jesus, is mine

Oh, glorious day

I don't usually have time to respond to all the great song lyrics people post on this thread, but I just wanted to add my "Amen - come quickly lord Jesus" in response to this.

What great reminders and encouragement. With all that's going on in my family, and the world, it can't come soon enough for me. But I know the timing is in his hands.

Sorry for not reading 38 pages, so if this has been said, please accept my apology.

Has Christmas Music been included? Many people tend to overlook that Christmas Music is Christian Music. And if we are going there

Trans-Siberian Orchestra is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not only is it rock and roll, but they do not shy away from the Christian roots of the music. They sing about Jesus loud and proud.

I play TSO year round at full volume. Its kind of funny when youre on the freeway in June, windows open, and you have Anno Domine on full volume

Yes, Amen.........come quickly, Lord Jesus!

Your post reminds me of another song -- "Glory" by Selah and Nichole Nordeman. I am pretty sure I have posted it here before because it is one of my all time favorites. However, after reading your post, I felt led to post it again.

Glory
by Selah and Nichole Nordeman

One day eyes that are blind will see you clearly
And one day all who deny will finally believe
One day hearts made of stone will break in pieces
And one day chains once unbroken will fall down at your feet
So we wait for that one day come quickly

We want to see your Glory
Every knee falls down before thee
Every tongue offers you praise
With every hand raised
Singing Glory
To you and unto you only
We’ll sing Glory to Your name

One day voices that lie will all be silent
One day all that’s divided will be whole again
One day death will retreat and wave it’s white flag
One day love will defeat the strongest enemy
So we wait for that one day come quickly

We want to see your Glory
Every knee falls down before thee
Every tongue offers you praise
With every hand raised
Singing Glory
To you and unto you only
We’ll sing Glory to Your name

We know not the day or the hour
Or the moments in between
But we know the end of the story
When we’ll see

We want to see your Glory
Every knee falls down before thee
Every tongue offers you praise
With every hand raised
Singing Glory
To you and unto you only
We’ll sing Glory to Your name

Love this song by Phillips, Craig, & Dean

What a powerful reminder of what the really important things are I need to be teaching my children!!!!!!

:goodvibes

Nothing to Prove
You taught me how to ride a bike
Tie my shoes and fly a kite
How to swim, and how to fish
To see a star and make a wish
Said it's okay to make mistakes
Just don't get stuck in yesterday
Forgive, forget, and move ahead
Because life is what you make of it
Now youre gone, and all I have
Are memories I hold deep
But if I'm quiet, I hear youre voice
Still ringing in my ears

Saying live with no excuses
Love with no regrets
Laugh a lot and leave this life
With nothing left unsaid
Make this world a better place
Don't be afraid to cry
And when it's finally time, to say goodbye
Nothing to prove, nothing to lose
Nothing to hide

You see, life cannot be measured by
The place you live, the car you drive
The thing that counts the day you die
It's who you are, and what's inside
So tell the truth, don't ever lie
Integrity at any price
Your words, your bond, your highest price
So guard it close, and live your life
So many things, I learned from you
Bout life and love and play,
But I learned more by how you lived
Then what I heard you say

So I live with no excuses
And I love with no regrets
I laugh a lot, and I leave this life
With nothing left unsaid
Make this world a better place
Don't be afraid to cry
And when it's finally time to say goodbye
And when it's finally time to say goodbye
And when it's finally time to say goodbye
There's nothing to prove, nothing to lose
Nothing to hide

Time In Between
by Francesca Battistelli

You were there when your Father said
Let there be light
You obeyed when He whispered
Son, You have to leave tonight
To spend nine months in a mothers womb
Three days in a borrowed tomb

(Chorus One)
But it’s the time in between
That brings me to my knees
Knowing you came for me
And all that I can't be
I'm amazed, so amazed
And I thank You for the time in between

Don't take much for this crazy world
To rob me of my peace
And the enemy of my soul
Says You’re holding out on me
So I stand here lifting empty hands
For you to fill me up again

(Chorus Two)
But it’s the time in between
That I fall down to my knees
Waiting on what You'll bring
And the things that I can't see
I know my song’s incomplete
Still I'll sing in the time in between

So many ways
Your love has saved the day
And I'm grateful for them all

(Chorus 3)
But it’s the time in between
The middle of two thieves
That says everything
It’s the reason I believe
I'm amazed, so amazed
And I thank you for the time in between
Oh Lord, I thank you for the time in between

He's Always Been Faithful
by Sara Groves

Great is thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me

Morning by morning I wake up to find
The power and comfort of God’s hand in mine
Season by season I watch Him, amazed
In awe of the mystery of His perfect ways
All I have need of, His hand will provide
He’s always been faithful to me.

I can’t remember a trial or a pain
He did not recycle to bring me gain
I can’t remember one single regret
In serving God only, and trusting His hand
All I have need of, His hand will provide
He’s always been faithful to me.

This is my anthem, this is my song
The theme of the stories I’ve heard for so long
God has been faithful, He will be again
His loving compassion, it knows no end
All I have need of, His hand will provide
He’s always been faithful, He’s always been faithful
He’s always been faithful to me.

Jesus Freak: D.C. Talk

Separated, I cut myself clean
From a past that comes back in my darkest of dreams
Been apprehended by a spiritual force
And a grace that replaced all the me I've divorced

I saw a man with tat on his big fat belly
It wiggled around like marmalade jelly
It took me a while to catch what it said
Cause I had to match the rhythm of his belly with my head
'Jesus Saves' is what it raved in a typical tattoo green
He stood on a box in the middle of the city
And claimed he had a dream

What will people think
When they hear that I'm a Jesus freak
What will people do when they find that it's true
I don't really care if they label me a Jesus freak
There ain't no disguising the truth
[There ain't no disgusing the truth]
[I don't need to hide it... The truth]

Kamikaze, my death is gain
I've been marked by my Maker
A peculiar display
The high and lofty, they see me as weak
Cause I won't live and die for the power they seek

There was a man from the desert with naps in his head
The sand that he walked was also his bed
The words that he spoke made the people assume
There wasn't too much left in the upper room
With skins on his back and hair on his face
They thought he was strange by the locusts he ate
The Pharisees tripped when they heard him speak
Until the king took the head of this Jesus freak

What will people think
When they hear that I'm a Jesus freak
What will people do when they find that it's true
I don't really care if they label me a Jesus freak
There ain't no disguising the truth

People say I'm strange, does it make me a stranger
That my best friend was born in a manger
People say I'm strange, does it make me a stranger
That my best friend was born in a manger

What will people think
When they hear that I'm a Jesus freak
What will people do when they find that it's true
I don't really care if they label me a Jesus freak
There ain't no disguising the truth
