Dh and I are Dvc members and usually stay at BLT. However we want to stay elsewhere for our trip in september. We can't decide our preference order though. Do we try for BWV first? BC? AKV? SSR? We would be happy anywhere I think. How do you decide where to stay when you want to try a new resort?

There's no method to our planning. We usually stay at the BW (our home resort) or the WL. We want to try BLT & AKV. DH is aching to devote oodles of time to the MK so we booked the BLT for our next trip in May. We are planning a longer trip in October so we may do 2-3 nights at the AKV so we can check it out and then move to the BW (hopefully).

Hi cluvsdisney! We originally weren't going to go to WDW this year bc we are going to Hilton Head in May but alas... We can't stay away :) so we literally just decided to take a trip in September using our 2013 points. We had the exact amount needed for 7 nights at BWV, BCV, and VWL and 6nights at BLT (I think) so we figured it was meant to be :)
anywho... Our 7 month mark is Feb 5 and we can't decide. We really like epcot so we are leaning BWV or BC.

BWV is our home resort but we've stayed at BLT,BCV,AKV,SSR and have loved all of them. Each resort has pros and cons but every one has its own special appeal.
We usually wait until just a couple of months out and choose from what's available. This way, our choices are usually more limited. Of course, last April, the week before Easter, I called and was able to get 2 nights at AKV, Jambo and 5 nights at BC.

BCV has the pool. I'll book here if my daughter and her friends are coming. Otherwise, I'm not crazy about it. The views stink.

BWV has great access, as does BC, Epcot and DHS. We love this because we make lots of ADRs at Epcot for dinner and can walk there and back. You can book nice views.

AKV, of course, the animals on the savannas-gorgeous! Jambo's lobby is beautiful. At Boma, I had the best meal ever at WDW. I love grains and veggies and don't eat much meat. There were tons of choices for me. There are meat dishes as well.

SSR is BIG but has some of the nicest CMs I have ever encountered at any of the villas.

Hope this helps. If you have any resort specific questions, I can try to answer them.

Thanks jujube! Your post is definitely helpful. I'm glad you mentioned about the views at BC. Dh has sun/UV allergies so we never go to the pools and that is really the last thing we take into consideration. I know some people don't really care about views but we really like sitting out on the balcony and just taking in the relaxation. For this reason, I think you sold me on BWV as our first choice. We would love to be able to walk to epcot. Like you, we make a lot of ADRs there. Then maybe AKL savannah as our second choice. Do you prefer Jambo or Kidani? I was thinking Jambo bc Jiko is one of my favorite restaurants and I like the lobby area. Idk. Lol :)
Thanks again for your help!

You're welcome.
I prefer Jambo mostly because of the outstanding lobby and the fact that Boma is in the main building.
BTW, I love the pictures in your signature.
When booking BWV, the Boardwalk view is awesome BUT it can get loud in the middle of the night when the lounges close-not always but it's something to consider. The Garden/ Pool views are wonderful.

Thanks for the tips jujube! I was thinking a boardwalk view originally but think a garden view may be nicer now. Is there a particular view where we may see the high fireworks of illuminations? For some reason I think I am putting the resort backwards in my head. We've been there twice now for dinner at the brewery and remember walking to and from epcot. So would it be a boardwalk/epcot view? Are there even epcot views? Idk. Now I don't remember. Lol. Where are my point charts? :)

Thank you for the complements on my photos. Dh and I got married in WDW in 2010!

You're welcome on both counts :) .
I think the only rooms that have a view of illuminations are the Boardwalk view rooms but I am far from certain. Probably someone on the Boardwalk Inn/villas thread could answer it definitively. Here;s the link to the newest thread:

This map show where the different views are located. It's from Granny on the DVC resorts board:

The water way to the right goes to DHS.
