We are only planning to do one character meal (preferably breakfast) on our trip. We've not been to DLR so I'm hoping for suggestions on which to choose. It'll be four adults and three boys (10, 8, and 4). Opinions are welcome! Thanks!

Which character(s) are your kids most interested in seeing?

There aren't that many choices:
  • Plaza Inn (breakfast) - Minnie and friends
  • Ariel's Grotto (breakfast and lunch) - Princesses
  • Storytellers (breakfast) - Chip, Dale, and other woodland friends
  • Goofy's Kitchen (all meals) - Goofy and friends
  • PCH Grill (breakfast) - Mickey and friends

I've only been to PCH Grill's Surfs Up with Mickey and Friends and I did like it. We saw Mickey, Pluto, Daisy, and Stitch.

We went last year with my son (3) and my nephew (8) and we did the Minnie & Friends Breakfast. Wide range of characters, including Chip & Dale and Captain Hook, Pooh, Tigger and Eeyore, Pluto. The boys really enjoyed it....they didn't care about Fairy Godmother, Minnie Mouse or Suzy (mouse from Cinderella), but those were the only "girlie" characters.

If you book an early reservation (within 15 minutes of park opening), there was plenty of room, great character interaction and the food was really good. They have an omelet station and the waffles with banana-caramel sauce was divine!

This year I think we're going to do Goofy's Kitchen or Surf's Up. The boys will be a year older and I think they'll like all the crazy interaction I've heard is there.

I have done Goofy's, Story Tellers, Plaza In, Surfs Up and Aerials Grotto all several times.

We have had the best interaction and most charters consistently at out table hands down at Micky's Surfs Up PCH Grill. They seem MUCH more interactive there...stealing hats and sunglasses, hugs, messing up hair...that kinda playful stuff. Everywhere else was a walk by maybe once and a wave.

My vote is Surfs Up.

Thanks for the input! I think we'll likely go with Surf's Up. Sounds like a lot of fun, and Stitch is my oldest's favorite character.

I think Goofy's Kitchen is the best meal I've ever had at DLR, let alone Character Meal! They have a buffet of food with a dessert section. I think children (and adults) of all ages would like it.

If Stitch is a must do- I'd 100% recommend Surf's Up, especially considering that Stitch is not a character available for meet and greets anywhere in the parks. He's in Magical Map in DL and at Surf's Up.

I really enjoyed Surf's Up! There was Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Daisy Duck, and Stitch. If they don't want princess overload, it seems like a good choice. Every character came to the table, and there were dance parties in the middle of the meal.

Minnie and friends is on my list for this next trip. I took my boys to goofys and they loved it!

I also have 3 boys and have done all the breakfasts at one point or another, and all have different benefits

Minnies: Best character quantity and variety, plus its in the park
Goofy's: Best food quantity and variety. Used to have good character variety but not anymore apparently.
Surf's Up: Best character interaction, and some unique food options (are the pineapple coconut scone things still there?)
Storytellers: More low key if your kids can get overwhelmed by characters.
