Choosing between Cinderella Royal Table vs Akershus

CT now just has Cindy in the bottom. She wasn't even there when we were seated, so we had to go back and see her. There was a line. Meh.

Akershus has all the princesses and they all come by and see you. My kid wouldn't eat the food, but who cares.

I'd def pick Akershus. Seeing the inside of the castle wasn't as cool as I expected, and no princesses was a real bummer. The food was actually pretty decent at CRT, and OK at Akershus.

You'd go to both if you are a die hard must see princesses fan and you aren't coming back. And then you go find the other ones, like Aurora over by Remy for two hours and Merida in MK.

I haven't done CRT and only done Akershus for breakfast BUT...if you are looking for a princess breakfast I would go with Akershus. It is a bit less expensive (at least it was when I did it). I really enjoyed all the princess interaction and the food was great! For me - I would only do CRT to eat in the castle but have managed to resist that for all these years.

Are you saying CRT didn't have anyone other than Cinderella? In the dining room?

In the past, CRT has had much more. When we went recently, it was just Cindy downstairs, and she wasn't in the dining room at all.
The princesses returned on February 28 or March 1? I can't remember. We were supposed to go March 2 but had to move it to before they returned due to stitch being more important.

Cost wise Akershus is a little cheaper and because it's family style vs plated, if you have an under 3, they have more options to eat.
But if you have your heart set on eating in the castle or meeting Cinderella, CRT wins.

Oh. When we went in 2012, that was how it was too. Cindy downstairs and other princesses upstairs.

Overkill for both though? If CRT is the one we choose (I have both booked).

We went in February. It was Cindy downstairs and no one at all upstairs. I was really disappointed.
The princesses returned February 28th. It is now back to pre-covid normal with the princesses upstairs.

Yes, definitely overkill. I prefer Akershus breakfast for the price and the food choices, but my son is obsessed with the castle experience so we usually do CRT.

I've been wondering the same, although I think it's much the same really.

CRT has Cindy photo shoot and 3-4 princesses during the meal (normally Aurora, Snow, Ariel and Jasmine).

Akershus has Belle photo shoot and again 3-4 princesses during the meal (often Aurora, Snow, Cindy and Ariel).

We're going for CRT, just for the castle aspect, plus I prefer the kids meal options at CRT. We will meet Belle in her gown at Enchanted Tales with Belle in MK.

CRT was disappointing during covid, but now that it is back to normal I would choose it for the "wow" factor. We personally would choose Akershus, but we've been to CRT multiple times and the allure is gone.

Personally I think the only real reason to do CRT is to eat in the Castle. But I'm not sure I'd want to give up precious morning time in Magic Kingdom for it, that time is more important than ever.

Morning in Epcot I would easy give to having breakfast with the Princesses. We actually have had our best Princess interactions there (over CRT).

We went to CRT for lunch in mid March this year and had a fantastic meal and experience. It was our first time and I had low expectations based on what I read. Cinderella was downstairs with a photo pass photographer taking pictures and signing autographs. Upstairs where lunch is served, 4 princesses (Aurora, Ariel, Snow White & Jasmin) came out and walked the tables and talked to all the kids. They posed for pictures and signed autographs. It was a ton of fun.

My family really enjoyed the food (my 8 year old kids still talk about it!). We didn’t feel rushed and thought eating in the castle was a unique experience. It was a relaxing way to meet the princesses in a nice setting with good food. It’s pricey but I’m so glad we did it!

If I'm taking anyone on their first trip CRT is a must! As my Mama put it: 'Who wouldn't want to eat in Disney's Castle?' It's a whole experience in itself and seems to really make MK for me. But when I'm at Disney I don't really factor in the price as a plus or negative, for me everything is about the experience and being in the castle just really seems magical.

Back when our girls were younger, we used to book both restaurants for our visits. We preferred the setting of CRT, but were mixed on food offerings. I know things have changed since Covid, but pre-Covid, we preferred CRT for breakfast and Akershus for lunch and dinner. Part of our love for Akershus was the kaltbar (cold buffet). From the menu, it does not appear that it's been added back. If you could only pick just one and you've never done either, I'd go with CRT. While Akershus has castle-esque vibes, it's just not the same as being in the castle.

Based on food alone, CRT for us. We just didn’t care much for the food at Akershus. But if I still had a kid that needed to meet as many Princesses as possible, Akershus. Luckily, I don’t lol
