I'm interested in hearing your thoughts on this...

After many sleepless nights and anxious moments ( not really ;) ), I've opted for All Star Sports over the other two..and heres why..

Being that my DW and I are are kidless on this trip, our priorites have changed..we are more interested in being able to have a seat on the bus! Being Sports is the first stop in the All Star loop, our chances of actually finding a bus thats not packed increases dramatically! Time spent at bus stops and standing on the buses seems like time poorly spent...we would much rather be riding Everest for the 12th time or having a turkey leg at MK..we choose All Stars because to us, it's a place to sleep and shower..we fly around the parks from open till close and as long as we are inside the magic, we're happy...

We're just thrilled to be planning another trip..I know every day for the next 135 will be sunny..Disney is on the horizon.:yay: :yay: :yay:

For our very first trip to WDW we chose ASSports for the exact reason as you, because it's the first stop with the busses, and it was a good decision. You obviously don't get the cute giant movie and music icons, but the giant sports icons are pretty cool. Being first in the bus route is definitely a benefit. We had a fantastic time there.

I've been to Pop..ASMusic..and AS Sports before..they all have their own personality. I wanted to choose Movies this time for something new..I just got a call from my DSIL who's staying at ASMusic this week..he said the buses were tolerable for them, but when they got to Movies, there wasnt room..of course, this was park opening time, but it's also early May..a busy hour, but not a busy time of year.. I just thought this was my best alternative..besides..I kinda dig the surfboards.:cool1:

Good choice! We stayed there last and it was very nice and easy to get a bus....however, I did no think of that...this time we are staying at Movies (* we let my duaghter pick this time) and I had not really considered the bus route. :upsidedow

we have stayed at allstar sports..since it opened..we seen all the resorts being built..you made a good choice..im staying thwere in may..just stayed at music in march..you will love it..i donnt like pop..at all its way too big and its 4 floors,,not a good place,,but you should try it as well or go see it when your there..so enjoy your holiday..you can resort hop and see all the resorts;;if you have a car..

As you can see my signature, we've stayed at all three. When is busy & not busy times of the year. We usually wake up early, so that we can beat all the late sleepers & everyone else. Usually around 8 to 8:45am the buses are pretty empty. It has worked for us all the time.:thumbsup2

We normally do get up and started early..even with the kids in tow. This time should be quicker if anything..We have 3 daughters and mornings are..well..S-L-O-W...need I say more?:confused3

I think the bus situation should be beneficial..even returning from the parks..first stop and all..

Been to POP....70's building..too big..

Been to Music..Calypso building..liked it alot...

Been to Sports before..got stuck in Rock and Roll building..in freezing weather..bad situation that we corrected by staying in a preferred room in September.:woohoo:

I have only stayed in Sports and Music and I personally like Sports better. I am a big sports fan (season tix for the Cubs and Football Badgers) and I really like the theme of the place. I also think that Sports is more compact than the other two All Star resorts. If you're really worried about walking too far, I would suggest that you pay extra for a preferred room.

We're staying at Sports next week!! Yes the first bus stop can be nice. The couple of times we've stayed at Movies, we've been in Mighty Ducks, so we used the Music bus stop anyway.

When we stay the values we choose the ASSp for the very same reason plus music has no appeal and since we are in Disney, we will see enough of the movies stuff anyway. But there is one thing that may affect it, If there are a lot of people waiting, you may still have to stand unless you are willing to let others behind go ahead and you wait for the next bus so you are first to get on. But I don't know what the crowd levels will be so it may not be an issue, just wanted to throw it out there since this has happened to us a number of times when staying there.

My boys LOVE sports, and this looks great. We are planning to stay just one night before a cruise Dec. 15/16th. Looks like Pop Warner is the week of Dec. 1 - 8th.

If we don't need the bus for the parks, but would like a quiet location, what would you suggest? Also, are the pools heated?

If you want a quiet place to just relax, I suggest the baseball buildings. They are the further away from the food court so you do not have to deal with all the people heading to the main building. And they have their own pool out there as well. And I believe the pools are heated.

Us TANKs (two adults, no kids) love the Sports. Mainly because we loved the sports. There's nothing like going up the stairs inside a giant plastic football on your way back to your room to watch a football game in your room.

Thanks for the replies. I have read too much about the noise, so I am trying not to freak out. It's just one night, but I would love to get my mini dose of disney before we ship out :)

Ask for a room in back so there is less foot traffic in front of your room. Honestly, I find the Deluxe resorts with their internal hallways where everyone in your wing tramps by your room more noisy.

Just ask to be in the baseball buildings. We have stayed there each time we went and each time was at Thanksgiving or Christmas so crowds were heavy and we never had any issues with noise in the baseball buildings.

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesnt the bus only stop at the other AS resorts if it isnt full? Like during the first few trips in the morning, if they fill up at Sports, they just head to the park, no?

I do believe the pools were heated...didn't get to go in last time...but the baseball building was nice and quiet and away from traffic! It was very peaceful and relaxing! A very fun environment! We also stayed in the tennis section....the giant tennis balls were kinda cute! Have a great time on the ship!!!!! I'm sure it will be wonderful! What a wonderful time to cruise!:cool2:

I really like all star sports, although the football section is probably loder than baseball, I like being close to the main building and depending on the room you can end up closer to the main buildings than the prefered rooms.

Any recent stays at the All Star Sports? Did you get one of the refurbished rooms??
