My parents are taking their 5 tweenage/teenage grandchildren to WDW in July. To ensure decent nights' sleep for all while still getting to take advantage of 60 day advance FP reservations, they are looking at booking 3 rooms at one of the budget WDW hotels. There's a summer promotion discounting the room rates and they can get the All Star Movies Resort for $116/nt, All Star Sports for $130/nt or Pop Century for $144/nt. Any reason one is better than the other? The price difference is minimal but when you spread it across three rooms for multiple nights, it does start to add up.

Thanks in Advance!

How old are the kids? They may run into a problem booking 3 rooms if they only have 2 adults going.

I would want to stay at Pop to get the queen sized beds. Movies has started a reno, but I don’t think it has gotten very far yet. Sports will have double beds.

Movies is currently beginning a gut and full room renovation. The rooms are likely in great need at this point which may indicate the price. I also believe they did not get their food court renovated when the other two did so it might be needing that as well.

POP will be closing in on a full room gut and renovation being done hopefully by fall, the queen/queen beds and all new rooms is why the cost there is higher.

Sports is a nice resort and we have stayed often.

My choice would be POP then Sports then Movies.

How old are the kids? I guess the oldest teen? Just wondering for the room locations to each other since Disney doesn't guarantee but you might have adults outnumbered.

I would pick pop for sure. We just stayed there and loved the new rooms so much that we will be back in october!

The kids are 16, 16,15, 13 and 11. Hadn't thought about the balance of adults and kids. Hmmm. Good point.

Also didnt know Movies was in the midst of a reno or that Pop has queen beds now. Good to know.

You will not be allowed to book 3 rooms. There MUST be an adult - 18 or older - in each room. If you were somehow able to manipulate the system and secure bookings and you were discovered, you could be told to leave.

Nope. Even if I wanted to manipulate the system, which I don't, I wouldn't because that could mean kids on their own somewhere in a large resort and definitely do not want that to happen. I wasn't thinking about the fact that the kids would outnumber the adults when I suggested the 3 room reservation.

Back to the drawing board...

If your primary reason for on-site accommodations is the 60-day FP+, are you aware that the Disney Springs hotels offer 60-day FP+ as well? I don't know how that fits for a party of your size, and we've never stayed off-site so I don't have a recommendation, but wanted to put that out there. You may find you have to weigh the pros and cons of various options and decide what is most important.

Enjoy your vacation!

I've stayed at all three, and my preference would be 1st choice: Pop, 2nd choice Sports, third choice Movies.
