Choking warning urged for food labels

Uhhh... isn't what they are trying to do is provide another method to educate parents? :rotfl2:

I love all the common sense here that thinks adding a label is gonna increase thier costs? :lmao:
Of course adding the label will increase costs. There is the cost of the redesign of the packaging it might mean a need to change the size of the packaging and that would mean more materials changes to machinery there is always cost when change is made to food packaging.

UUhh no, they want to make it the responsibility of the hot dog manufacturers to do it.

My children grew up on hot dog sticks. Instead of cutting the hot dog up like one normally would, you cut it lengthwise into a minimum of 4 long sticks. They then picked up the sticks and ate it that way. My 33 year old still remembers hot dog sticks and continued the tradition with her children.

On a more serious note, I have a very good friend that knew of a 3 year old that choked on a grape and died. Grapes should never be fed to young children without cutting them into anywhere from 2 to 4 pieces, depending on the size of the grape.

Do you think we can get mother nature to grow grapes in a different shape or size?

This goes along with my county BANNING drop side cribs. Yes, the county has completely banned the sale of them because of the number of infant deaths.

We are the only county in the COUNTRY with this ban and the next county over is 20 minutes where they are still for sale.

Make sense to anyone else? :rolleyes1

Although most parents are - or should be aware of these dangers - I guess there's no more harm in labeling foods than the warnings on things like chain saws - indicating that you "should not operate this machinery while standing on it" - or the curling irons - that warn you not to "insert them in any human orifice or use them while bathing or showering"..:confused3

As for the hot dogs, do they still sell those little jars of them for babies/toddlers in with the other baby foods? If so, why? :confused3
