When I try to get a quote I am only given some Deluxe Options for a resort, which is why I booked the Poly for our 1st trip coming up:banana: ! But I would like to know other than 2 rooms, what are our other options when trying to book value? I have read of a family suite but cannot find it on the Disney Website.

You may have to call the reservation # to get the family suites at ASMu. I am not sure the ages of your kids but they may be more economical than a deluxe.

Yes, there are family suites. If you call the reservation number you can get a family suite at all star. But other than the family suites. Rooms at value resorts only accomodate 4 guests.

there are some rooms at the moderate that will allow 5. I think Coronado is one of them.

portorleans, takes 5 i think,
but you have to reserve those rooms early

IMO it is a huge hole in the marketing of Disney
The family of five is left out in the cold.
when my 3rd child turned 3 I baically priced myself out of a disney vacation
If i am forced to get two room suite, should the kids sleep in the extra room by themselves? or do i split my wife and me up and each go in a room?
some vacation.

I hate to say go off resort, but....

Connecting rooms are prioritized for families just like this. It is cheaper to book connecting rooms at a Value than 1 room at Deluxe. Just us the privacy lock on the door of one rooms and leave the connecting doors open. It's like a 2 room suite.

Your cheapest option is POR (moderate) in the Alligator Bayou section which has some rooms with a trundle bed for the 5th person.

Next cheapest is 2 rooms at a value resort. I believe the family suite at ASMu is more $ than 2 rooms at a value, but you do get a fridge that way.

There is a deluxe room at YC and WL. They are both club level and sleep 6. The one at the WL has 2 queen beds in 1 room and a pull out sofa in the sitting room. There is are doors that seperate the 2 rooms. There is only 1 bath but it has access from both the LR & BR. We considered staying there, but instead opted for a 2BR villa since my Dad is now also joining us.

Wow, I had on idea I had that many choices. So, the next time I go back (which I know I'll want to go back right away! :) ) will the CM tell me all my choices when I call? I would also like to know the most economical and what it comes with versus the deluxe. I didn't realize not all rooms have fridges. It is a little tricky with a family of 5. We have been on 2 Disney Cruises (super highly recommend) and got connecting rooms rather than a Deluxe room. BIG price difference and still very nice!

Connecting rooms are NOT guaranteed though, if there are enough adults that one could be in each room.

I haven't seen mention the Fort Wilderness Cabins. They sleep 6, plus have a kitchen, which would help save some money. If you don't mind cooking while on vacation.

And a family of six might as well be in Antartica. Adding the forth child, is like opening a black hole:eek:

I have my fourth coming in August so I can relate. We just came back where we stayed offsite and it was awesome. We had a three bedroom that was amazing for a great price.

We have same scenario - family of five (DD6, DD9 and DS15). We have stayed at Port Orleans Riverside the past several trips we have made. We love that resort. Rooms aren't huge with five people, but we are either at the parks or DTD or pool, so its great for us. We especially love pool. Rooms have small fridge so we get milk, fruit and a few other things. We love the POR.

We did POP when our DD was still in a pak-n-play (provided), but once she was 3 we had to make a choice. We stayed in PO Riverside last year and it was great. The boys loved it. Ol' Man Island is a nice pool complex. Alligator Bayou are the rooms for 5, with a trundle bed). Magnolia Bend does NOT accomodate 5, nor does French Qtr. We would have gone back there (had ressies for Sep lined up from our last trip) but ended up buying at AKV this year. I found ressies not hard to come by the first time either. IN fact I checked several times during the year last year up until Jan this year, and there was always something available there for us.

You can get the ASMu Family Suite online by choosing the value resorts in the drop down box and clicking the suite box.

family suite at All Stars
POR Alligator Bayou section
Coronado Springs deluxe room
Fort Wilderness cabins
connecting rooms anywhere
Wilderness Lodge deluxe room (includes concierge level access)
Contemporary
Polynesian
Grand Floridian
Beach Club
Yacht Club
Boardwalk
DVC villas-2 bedroom or 1 bedrooms at new AK DVC

There is a wide price-range between these options. Personally, we did 2 connecting rooms at POFQ for the first time at Christmas and loved 4 beds, 2 tvs and 2 bathrooms.

At the end of the year #3 turns 3 and we are currently trying for #4. We've decided since we go every year that DVC is the way to go. Just haven't decided--still running the numbers--to buy or rent the DVC points.

Otherwise, I'd recommend going deluxe or a Fort Wilderness Cabin. Nothing against the value suites; I just like the idea of either room service or a full kitchen in case someone gets sick. I wouldn't want to drag a small child to the food court to eat when they're sick (and expose everyone else) or leave one alone while I ran to get food. Besides, doesn't the POR rooms that sleep five not allow you to book if your child is older since the trundle is very small?

Consider renting points for a DVD villa; you can rent for about $8-$13/pt. Standard view 1 bedroom villas that sleep five at AKV start at 19 pts/nt. but are more expensive on the weekends and during busier seasons - a full week starts at 171 pts/wk. At the other DVC (also known as Home Away From Home resorts) you will probably need a 2 bedroom; you can check on the DVC boards to see if they will allow you to book a 1 bedroom and pile all of the kids on one bed if they are small or use an air mattress.

For rt2dz: There is a good analysis here on tagrel.com at the bottom of their DVC faq page. I think that in the long run we will come out way ahead by owning the points.

That is why Disney just recently opened up the Family Suites, for those larger families. So they are listening to the guests that wanted more options for larger families. But if you are thinking they will make it as cheap as one value resort room, then you are bound to be disappointed. It just doesn't make good business sense. Yes you have more people to buy food and sourvineers for, but you also take up more space and use more utilities.

Not trying to bash anyone with a larger family, but that is the reality of having more than 2 kids. Your choices become a little more limited. But you still have many choices at Disney.

I'm with you on that.

We are looking at going for our very first time in Feb next year and I have two young adult (19 and 20 )yr old sons who are coming with us. Now there is no way come hell or high water that they are going to want to share a bed.. so our only option is to go for 2 rooms so they can have a bed each, which then leaves us with a spare bed in our room.:confused3

Totally daft if you ask me.. Why can't Disney accommodate familes with having a 2 bedroom suite with singles in the 2nd bedroom? Even if I had a child of each sex I still wouldn't put them in the same bed.

So, we are now looking at other options to Disney accommodation. Somewhere where the boys can have a bed each and we won't be paying for 2 separate rooms with a spare bed in our room.

Just doesn't make sense to me that Disney is supposed to be so "family orientated" yet their accommodation is lacking for families.
