Hi.. I bought some huge strawberries yesterday at the grocery store. Was going to google chocolate strawberry recipes. Anyone have an easy and delicious recipe they want to share?:cutie:

I melt the chocolate bits in the microwave, about 30 secs at a time then stir til it's shiny and smooth. I put the dipped berries on wax paper then into the fridge for a while. The fridge makes them sweat but they are good! I use my glass measuring cup to melt the chocolate and dip the strawberries. Also, a few years ago, I found a ready to use microwaveable chocolate dipping cup in the baking aisle. I think Baker's chocolate makes them. Check your baking aisle at the grocery.

If they're really large strawberries, I like to hull them out and pipe in a cheesecake filling and dip the top in graham cracker crumbs. After that has hardened for a few hours in the fridge I melt the chocolate discs you find in te grocery store to dip the strawberries in. Good luck!! :)

I used to work with my sister in her florist, and we would do TONS of strawberries for Valentines Day. All we used was Ghiradelli chocolates. You can find it at any grocery store...chips or bars. It made the best strawberries ever and super easy!

I just read this tip: the strawberries have to be absolutely dry, not a droplet of water, or the chocolate will slip off. Use your blow dryer on cool to get rid of any lingering moisture before dipping in the chocolate.

It also helps if the strawberries are at room temperature rather than being cold. Let them sit out for about a half hour after they've been washed. If still damp then use the above tip to get rid of the excess moisture.

When I make mine, I usually put them in an edible arrangement (homemade). I purchase wood scewers, strawberries, Bakers chocolate microwave cup, and a styrofoam block. Poke the skewer/stick into the top of the strawberry, dip it into the melted chocolate, and put the stick into the block til it dries. You can leave it on the stick if putting it into an arrangement or want to wrap it up like a bouquet, or pull the stick out and place in a candy box/tin lined with wax paper. When removing the stick, I make sure I place the stick under the leave area so the hole is not noticeable. :)

I use the Bakers dipping chocolate cups. It is so easy and they come out perfect. I also use the dipping chocolate cups for Oreo truffles.

I melt a few tablespoons of cream in with the chocolate it makes it easier to work with and adds some richness.

Once the strawberries are chilled I take a little white chocolate and drizzle that on them.

Stuffed Strawberries

Ingredients:
2 Lbs. Strawberries
8 oz. Cream cheese
1 package chocolate candy melts (I use Dolci, which is near the fruit at the grocery store).
½ cup confectioner’s sugar
¼ cup chocolate syrup or hot fudge

Wash and dry the strawberries.

Using a small melon baller scoop out the top of the strawberry removing the stems and some of the center.

Melt chocolate in microwave at medium heat. Start with small intervals like one minute.

Dip strawberries in chocolate and place on wax paper to dry.

While they are drying, mix the cream cheese, sugar and syrup/hot fudge using an electric mixer.

You can either scoop the filling into the strawberries with the melon baller or you can pipe it in using either a pastry bag or a super shooter for a nicer presentation.

Wow, I am loving all the tips and recipes. I have a question.. Once the chocolate is melted (I bought Ghiradelli milk chocolate chips), how do you keep it from hardening?

Anyone ever use a foundue to make these?

Thanks!:)

OMGish.....this sounds soooo yummy. I'm going to have to try this. We dip strawberries in chocolate all the time. I have 3 gallon ziploc bags in the freezer right now.

I make them all the time.

All I do is melt chocolate (I mainly use milk chocolate as the base but sometimes I use white or dark as well) and dip the strawberries . I let them partially harden and then I either dip them again in a different chocolate than what I used for the base or I just use a piping bag to pipe a different choclate on to them.

Occasionally, I will dip the strawberries in sugar first before I dip them in choclate. It makes them very very juicy underneath the chocolate. Not sure how or why it works but it makes them soooo good.

Chocolate covered strawberries (along with chocolate covered pretzels) are the most requested things for me to make. I gave a box of both to one of my professors last year and she took them to a meeting she had that afternoon and she told me that they didnt evern last the first 5 minutes of the meeting.

I just use a make shift double boiler and when it starts hardening I just put it back on. I have done them in the microwave but I am afraid that it cooks the chocolate, when you do it over and over again. All this talk is making me want to go get some strawberries! LOL

I don't have a double boiler. I'm gonna have to either get one or perfect my technique. I just got back from Walmart, and they had the strawberries for $1.98 and Nestle milk chocolate chips for $1.00 a bag. I have lots of practicing to do.. quality control:laughing:

I was going to ask how to keep the chocolate from falling all over the place when i take a bite.

So if its completely dry the choclate stays on after a bite? I thought it was because i was using regular choco chips and put them in the fridge to set

just got back from Sam's. After reading this post I was planning on buying some strawberries but they did look as good and to much $$

I've lost count as to how many strawberries I've had today!! Gotta keep practicing:rotfl:

When the chocolate starts to harden while you are still dipping, just add a little bit of cooking oil to the mixture and stir. Sometimes I have to stir in a bit of oil a few times until all of the fruit is dipped.
