I have already placed the order for 2 chocolate slippers, but now I'm second guessing it. When I spoke with Pat, I asked her the size of them, and all she would say was "its a great value." but I remember some saying that they are only 3 inches? Plus, they are $15 each, and I have to get 2 of them, so thats $30.

So for those of you who have gotten them - Is it worth it? Its for our time at Garden View Tea Room.

TIA

Personally, I would just spend the extra money on the items at the tea. For example...either feel free to order a more expensive "package" I think we usually order the Buckingham or the Grand. Another option is to allow yourselves to each choose an extra pastry (or choc. dipped strawberry) or two. My favorite Disney dessert (arguably...depending on the day ;) ) is the sherry trifle served at the tea. I would certainly take that over a chocolate slipper filled with mousse!!! Out of the gate you are out $30 + tax and tip before you have ordered one delicious tea item! But, if you think it would make for a great pic or it's important to you on some other level...go for the slipper. I have certainly done things like that!

I should have mentioned that this would not be for adults, but for a 5 & 6 year old. They will love the concept of having a "big girl tea" with mommy and grand ma, but I wanted to do something on top of that to make it extra special.

TIA!

It's totally up to you. I have taken my children to the tea when they were young, as well. To them, the whole thing was special, especially when the tray of pastries is brought around to them and they are able to choose a puff pastry swan filled with the mousse of the day or some other delectable treat. Only you can decide if you think the already lovely tea needs that extra $30 boost to make it really magical for your little girls. There is no right answer...

I think they are totally worth it. We have done it twice. They are served on dinner plates. The rim is decorated with your message, there is an angel cake 'cushion' approx 4x4 inch square. AT CRT the side of the plate is covered in strawberries. The chocolate slipper has been milk and white chocolate depending on what they have in stock and it is fairly small but solid chocolate filled wiht chocolate mousse. I would definitely do it again. We had the plate piped with Princess Natasha and she was thrilled.

This is the slipper we had delivered to Citricos for our DD :

We got one at CRT and I thought it was worth it. Great presentation and very tasty. I thought the price was pretty good by Disney standards:goodvibes. There were three of us and we all ate off it (plus the other two got dessert off the menu as well). We couldn't finish everything. For tea, I'd say getting two is probably going to be too much dessert with all the other goodies there. Can you scale it back to one?

Not the same thing, but we ordered a mini wedding cake at tea last year and we were so stuff we could barely eat it, not to mention the included pastries. Our server was very kind and let us pick out pastries to be put in a to go box since we were going right back to our hotel.

Just wanted to add, they should be able to put two names on the plate if that's a concern. They did for us at CRT.:goodvibes

I was concidering doing this to cut down the cost, but then a picture of them fighting with each other about eating one small shoe popped into my head.... Its not worth it!!

We did the tea last month and loved it. I know some people say it's not meant for kids, but we had kids and adults and everyone had fun. My five year old daughter loved feeling so elegant in the tea room and even my two year old son thought it was great (he loves to eat!) The slipper is very cute, though I will advise, if you're getting each of the girls their own Mrs. Potts Tea, you're probably going to wind up with too much food if you add on an extra dessert. I wound up splitting a tea between my son and daughter, and it was enough food for them, and that was without an extra dessert. You might want to think about just ordering them chocolate milk (it comes in a teapot) without the package, and order a set of tea sandwiches and then get the slippers delivered. That would help knock down some of the cost too, instead of winding up with a lot of extra desserts that everyone is too full to eat!

While it's not a huge dessert, I wouldn't say it's tiny either and between the chocolate and the mousse it's very rich. Between me and then my dd and dh picking at it we still couldn't finish it.:goodvibes

We were thinking about doing the Ms. Potts Tea, but I would only order one for the two of them, dispite getting the chocolate slipper or not - If they wanted something extra, they could eat it off mine, or my mothers plate.

Oooh, decisions, decisions!!

I haven't been to the tea, but the slipper I ordered for my dd's 40th b'day at CRT was well worth it.

Got one for dd's birthday last year- she loved it and I would absolutely do it again!

Hmmm, when I spoke with Pat, she said that it was just whipped cream in there, not mousse....

I could be wrong here so hopefully someone else will correct me - but my understanding is that both version of the slipper (the GF version and the CRT version) come with mousse. For the CRT version, which is what we had, the mousse is in the slipper. From looking at pics and descpriptions of the GF version, there is a seperate teardrop-shaped chocolate filled with mousse that is on the side of the plate. I haven't actually had the GF version yet though;).

ETA: I wonder if Pat downplays the size on the specialty desserts so people aren't disappointed. We ordered a mini wedding cake for our trip last year and she really emphasized that it was for ONE person. We easily split it between the two of us and I couldn't even finish my half. But there was no issue of us fighting over the cake, lol, so if that's a concern then maybe it's worth it to get two regardless! Enjoy it.

Sorry, it's not very Disney-esque of me but I keep thinking about some raunchy "American Pie" type movie where a woman's shoe (slipper) gets used for beer not dessert. I guess that's the side of me that has a Nine Inch Nails sticker on one side of the back window and a Mickey waving sticker on the other.
