Been reading a bit on how chocolate milk is good after a run.

They even had it after my first half marathon.

So who else drinks it? Seen any change/benefit from it?

To me its a nice sweet reward regardless what it does.

I used to drink it, but I grew older and it began to make me gassy. I now have a Zone bar after my run with a large glass of water. It is just as filling, tastes just as good, and has more protien for your healing muscles - and no gas. :crazy2:

I have, and it's lovely. But I have no control when drinking it, and I'm also doing Weight Watchers, so the 8 points for the bottle of chocolate milk was getting too "expensive" in terms of my daily diet.

I've been experimenting with various electrolyte replacement things while I'm running now, and those have eliminated my strong need for the chocolate milk, though I think I'll have DH bring some in our cooler backpack when I do the TOT 10-miler. I figure I'll be able to "afford" 8 points after that. :)

But anyway, I definitely felt a difference on the days I ran and drank it vs when I didn't.

I did a 61 mile bicycle ride today and gulped the choco-milk down as always.

I love it...I drink it after every big race. My routine in Disney is to get my chocolate milk the night before and have it ready in the fridge for after the race. I have my chocolate milk, water and gatorade lined up on the tub while I'm ice bathing :goodvibes

I drink dark chocolate almond milk post workouts and I love it. I think it really does help with recovery and it is a great healthy treat.

Another chocolate milk drinker here. Besides the benefits as a recovery drink, I drink it for the calcium. I am a 52 year old runner girl who can't tolerate any of the calcium supplements, so I drink the pre-mixed Nesquick which has extra calcium.

I find many chocolate milks have a flavor that is too strong for my taste and as some already mentioned the calorie count is high. I kill 2 birds with 1 stone by mixing 8 oz lowfat Nesquick and 8 oz 1% white milk - great taste for me with lower calorie count. So for 270 calories in 16 total ounces I get a great carb/protein balance post run plus 60% of my daily calcium needs.

I love a glass of chocolate milk after a run. If you are doing WW though, you have to make your own. Measure (don't guess!) 8 oz of fat free milk and two tbsp of ovaltine. You will get all the post run benefits of chocolate milk for only 3 points.

I think it is one of the best tasting drinks after a race. I really don't go out of my way to drink it after any training runs, but I gulp it down if it is there for me after a race.
