Anyone have any recipes for chocolate fountains that are out? We are going to have two at my sister's wedding in December and thought we would do something besides just chocolate.

You may need to check with the organization from which you are renting the fountains. Many of them are very particular about what liquids are used and even what solids are allowed to be dipped.

We were dealing with the rental of one today for a chocolate fountain and they specifically wanted to know what items were to be dipped. When we mentioned pound cake, they emphatically told us no cakes - the crumbs fall off and get sucked up into the tubing. It can clog the tubes and turn the chocolate gritty.

We have purchased the fountains. That is interesting about the cake though. I think with wedding cake my mom is not going to do pound cake with it. She was going to do fruits mainly.

We have the fountains as well, but have never tried anything besides chocolate. But DH (who is a chef) wants to try Bar-b-Q sauce you could dip meatballs, chicken nuggets, and maybe those small sausage links in it. Some of the best dipping things for choc. that we have found are Cream Puffs (sold frozen at Sams) Bananas, Pretzel sticks, and those cheap sugar wafer cookies (the ones with wafer and cream stacked up).

We placed small cups near our chocolate at the wedding to encourage people not to dip directly into the chocolate. That would prevent pound cake from clogging up. We had various fruits. We didn't do a fountain, rather a chafing dish. Here's what our table looked like for the fruits:

We had the various fruits (the grapes were sugared) and mints along with a cream cheese based fruit dip. You can sort of see the little cups in the back.

our Kroger's store is having a grand opening this week and they bought the fountain from Kohl's and said a recipe book came with it....? they were very happy with how the fountain was working they had pineapple, marshmallows, angel food cake, strawberrys to dip they had plates because the choc. did drip a little.hope this helps-I'm thinking of getting one of these-for our 20th anniversary party.

How do you do the sugared grapes? Those sound really good.

I think you wet them and then roll them in sugar. They are SO pretty. My caterer/wedding planner/cake designer did a fabulous job figuring all this out.

Thank you! We will have to try those out.

I just looked it up and it looks like you cover them with egg whites (like brush it on) rather than just water.

For sugared grapes, add a tablespoon of water to one egg white and beat until it's a little frothy. Coat your grape in the egg white and sprinkle well with berry sugar. You can use plain sugar but the berry sugar is finer and looks more delicate.
