Has anyone done the Chocolate Excursions? I know there are several offered. Curious on your thoughts. Are they worth the time/money? Have you tried more than one? I enjoy wine, so that one would be my but DH doesn't like it at all. DH and I only took an excursion on one cruise when his parent cruised with us and paid. On our 6 other cruises we usually just wander off the ship. I was thinking of trying something different and these are shorter trips that would allow us to till wander the shopping areas.

Watching this thread. We are very interested in this as well. We have 3 children, so I was looking for something a little less expensive and slower paced.

Honestly, we did this and you would be best served to take a cab there and do it on your own. Overall, it was ok, but really shouldn't take as much time as Disney took there. We did this as the one with the ruins tour and they spent more time at the chocolate factory than the ruins and really there isn't much to do at the chocolate factory other than about a 10 minute tour, drink one small shot of chocolate and shop.

Overall if you did this yourself, I would plan about 20 minutes plus travel time.

We visited a chocolate place as part of a triple offering - ruins, Discover Mexico, and the chocolate stop. I wouldn't do that particular chocolate place. It was a short walk to see some plants, a brief talk on adding flavors, and then the store. It is basically just a stop to get you to buy things. It was not a true factory.

We did a chocolate factory tour on our own a few years ago and really enjoyed it. It is not the one through DCL. We spent some time making our own chocolate before sampling a lot of their products. It now cost $20, but I would still recommend it and it gets good reviews on tripadvisor. www.kaokaochocolatefactorytour.com

I think that's the one I would do if I were doing it on my own.

On our first WC we did the ruins and beach break and that was great. On our second time in Mexico we just did the beach break. The third and fourth times we walked around the port and then got back on the ship. The most recent trip this past April, we did the ruins, the chocolate tour and the beach.

I thought the time spent at the ruins was shorter but still wonderful, the chocolate tour was more than needed and the beach time got cut shorter to make fit in the time at the chocolate part of the tour. All in all, we would not do this tour again.
As a point of opinion , we did the Greycliff chocolatier tour in Nassau in June 2016 and it was 100% better than the chocolate tour in Mexico. It was more interactive, entertaining and we had an engaging guide named Coco. (She was awesome)
So if you find yourself in Nassau, check that tour out! :)
