I had to test them...what if they weren't good enough to give as gifts? Yummy, they are. I can't make anymore until I pick up the little fudge boxes, so I can pack the cherry candy and the chocolate covered pretzels and get them wrapped (with lots of tape!). I have to get them wrapped, so I'll still have some to give.
What are you making, that you just have to taste?

PS: I froze the spritz's while there were stll some to freeze!

I'm willing to be a taste tester for you. PM me and I'll gladly send you my addy. :lmao:

Can you send me some please?

You are all welcome to come up here in the freezing Northeast for a few of these. I think I have a couple hundred of them..or whatever comes in that really large cherry jar from Sam's Club. I didn't count them, but I do know I've had more than my share. I have to admit it's a toss up between the pretzels and the cherry's though. I got the shorter thick stick pretzels in a big container from Sam's Club..so much better than the really long ones from the market. Easier to dip in the chocolate.
I also have got to stop collecting toppings. I have jimmies, colored sugar and every other type of cookie topping. I think it has become an illness. But they make the cookies and the chocolate covered pretzels look so pretty!

I have loved these unfailingly since I was a young girl. To save calories, I buy a jar of maraschino cherries and have them as a treat from time to time.

We just had a box at work today, along with See's Candy and two cakes. I really don't want to step on a scale.

My MIL makes these but now she sells them all at their annual bake sale that funds their scholarship fund that she set up when she was working so we never get any of them any more--:lmao:. She makes incredible caramels though and sells most of those too but still saves some for the family (I think there would be a major mutiny if she didn't). :lmao:

They are already made, but I love to eat the chocolate chip and peanut butter dough.

As for the chocolate covered cherries, I don't like cherries but my sister loves them, but only the ones with the clear liquid center.

I make cordial cherries for my dad every year, and have been doing this for about 30 years! Take some powdered sugar and some corn starch, a little cherry juice, wrap it around the cherries, and dip. Yum!

I  chocolate covered cherries! My favorite are Cella cherries, of course after hand made. I only had hand made chocolate cherries once, from a local candy making store. They had bourbon in them and OMG, they were fantastice!

mmmmmmmmmmmmm my holiday fav is choc covered cherries.... ohhhhhhhhh will walk away and not buy any... right now!!!!!

Is the dough suppose to be very thick? Not really dry, but doesn't get all over your hands. Seems like it needs more liquid, but want to make sure before I go on.

Yes the dough is very thick!! Also even though the recipe says you can add extra cherry juice to the frosting, when I added more it made the frosting run. try to stay as close to the recipe for the frosting. it came out better!!

Thanks for the cherry cookie recipie. Since we were snowed in this weekend, it was perfect for baking. Tried these and they are a hit! We doubled the recipie but may need to triple it next time.
