Chocolate Bacon Bar anyone?

Someone posted a story a few weeks ago about people making/eating chocolate covered bacon. Has anyone here had the opportunity to try it yet?

I found Mo's Bacon Bar by Vosges Chocolate company online and ordered several small bars, expecting them to be ok but a little too odd to be great.

I was wrong.

Through my chocolate filled mouth all I can mutter is "oh. my. god!"
It's EXCELLENT! It's beyond excellent.....it's addictive and oh so different!
I now need to get a second job in order to afford my new habit.

p.s. Yes. I am a diabetic. I have to find a way to fit this into my "diet".

Wow. I haven't tried it, never even heard of it! But now I'm really curious. I have tried things before that I thought for sure would be too weird for words, and loved them. Maybe I'd better not try it. I don't need another addiction that involves sugar and fat.

My husband is a diabetic (type II) and I was just wondering do you think you crave sweets MORE? He never used to care that much about candy etc but now he eats it all the time. Is it just because it is the forbidden fruit well, not forbidden just limited?

I will not even TELL him that such a thing as a chocolate covered bacon bar exists. He is a food broker and I bet he would find a way to represent the company just so he could get free samples!

IF so you could request that they carry it and there is a good chance they would they are into the weird type of product and it sounds like it is right up their alley. Of course they could call it, "Trader Porkie's" Bacon Chocolate Bar. You know how they name all their products to correspond with the product and Trader Joe.

I don't like bacon or chocolate. The thought of the two combined make me ill. I do love the savory and sweet mixtures of other foods though so I get the appeal!

I have never heard of THAT, but there is a company nearby that makes chocolate covered potato chips - your entire pms survival kit in one package!

Sounds delic! Bacon is my favorite food!! I went to the website to order a few of the mini bars, but the shipping price was outrageous...now I'm sad...I want to try one I looked for retailers and there is a Rebecca's Natural Food here in town that carries their products, I might go there.

I don't know that I'd be so quick to compare an artificially-flavored sugar concoction approximating the flavor of bacon to actual, honest-to-goodness applewood smoked bacon. That would be like comparing a state fair to WDW, you know.

vosges is at several gourmet retailers, but not at any trader joes.

i would advise anyone looking for an interesting treat to look them up. i won a trip to chicago and in my gift basket was a small box of four truffles, i tried two and they were wonderful. i promptly walked up to michigan avenue and bought a sampler box of hot chocolate and two more pieces of chocolate. i savored every sip and bite! my favorite was the balsamic chocolate truffle

i will keep a look out for the bacon bar, i do love bacon

I could see how it would be good. Whenever there is a "weird food" thread, I always mention I like pb and bacon sandwiches. They are so good and have a delicious salty/sweet thing going on. I had bacon wrapped dates at a restaurant and it was the same idea- salty/sweet.
