*Chocolate and Pixie Dust* - An August 2008 TR- 8/29 pg 6: Sort of an update

4:30pm. We are doing ME. We have dinner at bluezoo that night. That's our only plan.

We may go to TL for night EMH that night.

We may go to PI since it is closing forever in Sept and it is a Sat night.

We may to ride ToT.

We may go to the Rose & Crown in Epcot.

We may stroll the Boardwalk and visit that bar inside BWI that is supposed to be so great.

cool books... what's funny... i have a ton of books.. and I don't have a single one of those lol

Your apartment is awesome :woohoo:

Here are some photos of my new apartment. I'm still trying to pick out window treatments and artwork. No curtains or pictures yet.

Kitchen - Dishes I don't use (take out comes in it's own dish!)

What are the chances the lines will be short at ME on 8/9. We land at noon and I'm hoping to be at the Contemporary before 2. Wishful thinking, I know. I'll stop and have a cocktail before getting on the ME line.

Can't wait to hear about your dinner Bluezoo.

Beautiful apartment! When is the Lapu Lapu party? :lmao:

I have the new Complete Guide but not Zagat's. Let me know how you like it!

Thanks! Lapu Lapu party tonight!!!

Zagats is really good. It's concise and doesn't have a lot of useless chatter. It works well for the part of me that has no attention span.

I feel the need to buy more books. Any you recommend?

Thanks :)

I did :lmao: I LOVE Target. I'm there at least once a week. And I figure it's ok since everything is reasonably priced :rolleyes1

After a night out at the exbf's house in the country (ok ok Westerchester County- not the country exactly, but I'm city girl!), I realized I wasn't able to plan or do anything trip related :scared1: And he's not a Disney fan (I'll get to that story later), so I couldn't share my excitement about the upcoming trip.

Well, before I can plan today, I have some important matters first. At around 10:30ish, I have brunch with my friend Debbie. Then at 12:30 the all important hair appointment. And since I'll be on the Upper West Side, I'll have to make a stop at the Crocs store, Bed, Bath, and Beyond, MAC, L'Occitane, and possibly head over to midtown to the World of Disney. I'd feel so empty if I came home with no bags :sad2:

Coming tonight: Did I make any purchases? The exbf makes an offer I can't refuse. Or can I? And ADR revisions.

ooohhhh more Exbf adventures. I have missed those.

Are you taking food porn pics of brunch? How about before and after hair pics?

I'll check in later tonight. Today is a travel day for me. When you're at brunch, I will be speaking, then rushing to the airport to fly home from Chicago.

Nice new books to read! I got my girls one of the WDW For Kids books, an older version as it was in 2006, and they really enjoyed it!

Have you read Realityland? It is a really interesting book on the history of WDW, I really, really enjoyed!

Enjoy your day! Nice apartment!

Allyson :)

I love your dishes!

I have that microwave cart too!

Sounds like a fun day you have planned. I love getting my hair done and shopping!!!!

Oh there have been lots of exbf adventures. I can't post all of them here :lmao:

I didn't have my camera, so no pics of brunch or the hair.

Hope you had a good trip home!

Oh, I can't wait to hear all about it tonight!

Have fun!

Update coming right up!

Thanks! I saw Realityland when I was browsing on Amazon. I have to order it and read it before the trip.

Thanks :)

Sorry I missed you today. I got out of the salon late, was late for my next appointment, and got sick :sad2:

Thanks! I don't use them much. I usually cook take out.

The salon is heaven for me. It's so nice to have your hair washed by someone else!

sounds good. i will talk to you during the week.

off to be enchanted

goodnight

I spent Thursday afternoon and evening in Westchester at the exbf's house. In the midst of watching Zoolander (HUGE Ben Stiller fan), we began talking about our birthday and summer vacation plans. He started to complain about turning 34 and wanting to have kids blah blah blah until the convo switched to summer vacations. He's going to Cozumel to dive and invited me to join him in sunny Mexico. I'd love to go. I've never been to Mexico and this would be the perfect opportunity. Plus I can sit on the beach and drink colorful cocktails while he plummets hundreds of feet under the sea to find Nemo. Sounds great, right?

Well, here's the catch. He's going to Mexico from August 7th-August 15th. I'm going to Disney August 9th-August 16th :scared1:

For a nanosecond, I thought about switching the dates of the Disney trip. But that went out the window fast. My parents already scheduled their vacations, my nephew was scheduled to be back in NYC, and everything is paid in full. Plus, the bounceback deal we got starts August 10th. So if I switched the dates, I'd probably have to pay full price (IF i can even get theme park view rooms at the CR and POLY), have to pay to switch the airline tickets, and lose all of my ADRs. Uhmmm not going to happen.

So I had to decline the offer, even though it was soooo hard to refuse. We agreed to plan a weekend somewhere else. Why can't he just go to Disney like other normal people?!?!

Well, I got some shopping done after my two appointments today. I went to Northface to get a hat. Normally, I do not wear hats. But my mom and Debbie have convinced me that I need to cover my head to stay cool and keep the sun out of my eyes.

Here is the hat, modeled by my stuffed penguin. I LOVE penguins!

Let's see if I actually WEAR the hat in Disney :rolleyes1

I went to the World of Disney and got these two lanyards with holder for park tickets, fastpasses, and apparently "subway tickets." I was not aware that people bought tickets to ride the subway. Maybe Metrocard translates to Ticket in Disneyese. The price of the lanyards was $7.00 each. They were on sale for $2.99 each. I got one for mom too. We'll carry my dad and T's KTTW. T is 4 and really doesn't need to hang onto his KTTW and my dad always loses things. I'll need a valium if I have to deal with a lost KTTW. An extra stop at the front desk would mess up my plans. My OCD can't handle that!

These will probably see the inside of my backpack more than anything else. I don't know if I can wear that around my neck all day. Seriously, I don't know how the pin traders do it.

That leads to my other problem - a bag for the trip. I still have my LeSportSac backpack with the hearts from the January trip. But if I get tired of carrying it (and eventually I will), my dad wouldn't be caught dead carrying a backpack with pink hearts. Yes, I know I just said he loses things. He loses small things like keys and cell phones. So, the backpack will be safe.

Here's a short list of the bags I'm considering:

-small backpack from L.L. Bean
-backpack from Crocs (Heidi inspired this!)

That's it. That's my list. Does anyone have any ideas???? HELP!!!!

Up next: The ADR Saga

I used a Vera Bradley across the shoulder bag this trip. I had a Coach one last year, but this one was even lighter. Of course, it doesn't hold much... DH is the 'backpack' carrier and he gets the ponchos, mini umbrellas, and anything else we can't fit. DD got a NorthFace small backpack for this trip and she really liked it.

I couldn't do the lanyard around my neck - the fan/spray bottle made me nuts last year. This year we got the little O2Spray fans that clip onto your belt loop, or my Vera Bradley bag. lol

Ooh, I like the ticket holders.
Have you looked at LL Bean's travel shoulder bag?

Hi Jenn! First off, let me WELCOME you back! I've been a lurker and decided it is time to show up :lmao: . Now where shall I begin....I'm also from NY...a Queens, neighbor too! Your apt view is GREAT!!! Hopefully it has a balcony and you can drink your cup of coffee in the am (or Mimosa, Lapus, etc...:rotfl: BTW, is that off the Cross Isl Pkwy, I drive it ALL the time! I shop at Roosevelt Field, too! and absolutely LOVE the city. (We were in WOD last Thursday!!! and bought some "stuff" for the trip. I just love it!!
Anyway, keep it coming we're all enjoying it! P.S. Love your NorthFace hat where did you pick that up from? :hippie:

We're going to have my nephew's stroller, so some stuff (and I don't plan on carrying that much stuff), can just go in the Macalaren.

I'm going to check the Vera Bradley bags.

And I'm with you when it comes to stuff around my neck. I'll make me crazy, especially in the heat.

Ooh, I like the ticket holders.

I have not looked at those bags. I'm going to check today.

Glad you're no longer lurking!

And thank you for the warm welcome back!.

I love the view from my apartment. It's so relaxing. And, yes it's off of the Cross Island. What part of Queens are you from?

Oh Roosevelt Field is one of my favorites!!!

I got the Northface hat at the Northface store on 73rd and Broadway. They have other colors too :)
