*Chocolate and Pixie Dust* - An August 2008 TR- 8/29 pg 6: Sort of an update

Before I start, I want to thank everyone for the warm welcome back and for being patient while I was gone. The past couple of months have been very hectic and busy. I had end of the year stuff to deal with at school, moved to a new apartment, attended a baby shower, and welcomed my new nephew, which meant frequent trips to Maryland.

I missed everyone here! I missed reading trip reports and pre-trip reports. And I missed all of the great tips and advice. With Disney only a month away, I need to get back into the swing of things! Now that it's summer vacation, things have slowed down considerably. Time to DIS!!!!

As you know, I've been waiting for my nephew's arrival. Well, it was a surprising one! He was due at the end of June/beginning of July. We attended a fun baby shower in Maryland on May 31st. Here is a pic of one of the gifts I got my two nephews:

I didn't expect to be back in Maryland until the end of June. I figured the baby wouldn't be here before then. Well, I was wrong!

The following weekend, on Sunday, June 8th, my brother called at about 8:00in the morning to let us know they were in the hospital and had been there since 4:00 a.m. :scared1: At 11:10 p.m., Jackson was born! He was 5 lbs 13 oz and 18 in long. June 8th happens to also be my aunt's birthday, so she was super excited.

Unfortunately, I had to go to work the next morning and couldn't drive to MD to meet him. But I was there the following weekend. Here are some pics of Jackson and his big brother T:

While you can't really see it, T has on his Soarin' t-shirt from Epcot. I think T will be a future DISer!

Coming later....DISNEY MAIL!!!!!

Jackson is just precious!!! What a cutie!!! How is T adjusting to life as a big brother?

Thanks! T LOVES it. He's so excited. He has picked out some of his books for Jackson and tells everyone he has a little brother. And he's started Tae Kwon Do three days a week. He can't wait for Jackson to start walking so he can teach him what he's learned!

I moved over Memorial Day weekend and it has been pretty hectic ever since. I haven't taken pictures of the inside of the apartment yet, but here are some photos of the view:

On a different note, I just got back from some errands and stopped in Barnes and Noble. The travel books aisle called me and I HAD to go look. Well, I got three new books!!! I'll take pics and post in a little later.

Congratulations on that beautiful new nephew and lovely apartment!
Enjoy both!!!

I started a trip report... we'll see how it goes.... never did one before!

I got lots of Disney mail last week. The custom park maps I ordered arrived, as well as Magical Express stuff and our vacation documents. The trip becomes real for me when all of the documents finally arrive :) In one month exactly, I'll be at Disney World!!!

We got two sets of Magical Express tags. We're arriving at the Contemporary, but leaving from the Polynesian. We really only needed tags for the Contemporary, but I guess Disney's system doesn't work that way :confused3

And I found out great news from American Airlines. Since I booked our tickets in January (before the luggage fees went into effect), I won't have to pay to check our bags! We can check 2 bags each

Right now, I've been trying to get a good deal on carservice to the Airport. I live in Bayside, which is about a 15 minute drive (no traffic) from LaGuardia. Since I use Carmel Carservice all the time, I figured I'd start with them. Since there are 3 adults, 1 child, 4 suitcases, and a stroller, we cannot reserve a town car. We have our choice of an SUV, minivan, limo, or full size van. When I checked online, I got a quote of $138 for the suv or minivan, $148 for the limo, and $158 for the full size van. Those are one way prices :scared1: Gas really is expensive.

Since those prices were pretty high, I checked SuperShuttle. Even though I do not want to share a ride (I'm a control freak and need to get to the airport when I want to get there), I priced it anyway. A one way ride to LaGuardia would cost $50 for the first person, and $25 each additional person, totally $125. That seemed a little high for a shared ride.

I decided to check with Carmel one more time. This time I called instead. $52 one way to LaGuardia!!!! YAY!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Lesson learned: Never trust a quote on Carmel's website!

I guess I could also check the prices to park at LaGuardia, but my dad refuses to leave his car there for a week. He thinks someone will scratch it when they open their door or steal it :confused3

One of my students brought this back from her spring break trip to Disney:
