*Chocolate and Pixie Dust* - An August 2008 TR- 8/29 pg 6: Sort of an update

She is starting in Sept, but I think the commute would be a little too long..plus I get the feeling that you work at a private school and we couldnt afford a day there! :teacher:

Something they dont already know? :lmao:

Hmm the commute may be a bit much. You'd have to pack a snack for her :lmao:

I actually work in a public school, but not part of the NYC public school system. I know that doesn't make any sense. It's a publicly funded school run by a university. So no tuition :woohoo:

I don't think I could teach at some of the private schools here. I think there are nannies that make more money than teachers :rotfl2:

I need to borrow my cousin's shin guards and buy a pair of Crocs. This seems like a photo op!

I don't bring the Passporter or UG to school because I'm afraid I'll start reading from their instead of Strega Nona.

LOL :cutie: LOVE Strega Nona! I cherish my autographed copy of "The Legend of the Poinsietta" and DD did a great humorous reading in a Forensics competition from one of his Fairmont Avenue books, where he talks about seeing "Snow White" in the movies and how "Mr. Walt Disney DID NOT READ THE BOOK!" Do you know that one? :goodvibes

And with TGJ you can take him with you in Flat form -- I wonder if he would fit in your handy Passporter pocket??? :rotfl2:

I found the pictures of "Flat Jordan" on the threads yesterday and almost died laughing! I have my students do "Flat Stanley" one year and we had a blast! I took "Stanley" with us on a family trip before we did it as a class, and it was quite funny - he went to DH's relative's 50th Wedding Anniversary in Indiana.. "ROAD TRIP"! ... I must find the photo of "Flat Stanley" singing with the DJ at the party...:lmao:

Tomie de Paola's books are great. We're doing an author study right now and have tons of his books in our classroom. We make life size Strega Nona, Big Anthony, Bambalona, etc.

We do Flat Stanley too!!! We should have a Flat Stanley exchange with our students :lmao:

I'm going to take a pic of our life size Flat Stanley and post it later.

That would have been fun - alas, I "retired" this year! ;) DD started high school and I didn't want to be pulled in two different directions. It was easier when we were at the same school for 9 years! (small Catholic school)

Now I am enjoying being home and playing "Mom's Taxi" for her many activities... my "Social Butterfly".... :goodvibes (she's so happy in high school, so I AM HAPPY.:) )

I will have to scan my Flat Stanley photos - it was prior to my digital camera! lol

Can't wait to see your "life size" one! :goodvibes

In my attempt to work on my itinerary, I've run into some trouble. And I know someone here can help.

My parents will be celebrating their 35th anniversary this summer. I'd like to do something special for them at Disney, but don't know what to do besides order a cake. Any ideas?

I didn't make it to DTD during our trip in January. It's a must-do this time around. I've read about building your own light saber and some of the restaurants. I want to have some sort of a plan so I don't wander around aimlessly. What's on your to do list for DTD?

It must be so nice to be retired!!!

It's great that your daughter loves high school. The transition isn't easy for some.

Can't wait to see some of your Flat Stanley pics.

I'm going to wear shin guards. Can you imagine? Shin guards and Crocs. I might as well wear a fanny pack and a mullet :lmao:

:rotfl2: The new look in theme park touring fashion!

DTD: Our must-dos are World of Disney, the Christmas store, Goofy's Candy Co., the Art of Disney, Pin Traders, the scrapbook store and the Lego store.

Anniversary: Could the cruise fit into that? Also, they have buttons at Guest Services that they could wear. Definitely tell the restaurant where you are dining that it is their anniversary. I'll see if I can think of anything else.

A diver at Coral Reef.
That is what I was going to suggest too. A unique suprise and free to boot! Plus they'll let you send in pictures in advance and make you a personalized menu that is a nice keepsake.

Allyson :)

If you want to send one here, I can take him to the beach, bring him to school, have him work on the computer, Bring him around the east end..

:)
About the anniversary...I say use the crusie..or maybe a special all together dressy dress up dinner someplace nice...with pixie dust...

WoD-I always do the bulk of my shopping there for the Visa discount.

As has been already mentioned a wishes cruise might fit the bill. We're hoping to do this for my 40th next year, you can get the boat decorated and have a cake and drinkies on board if you like:cloud9:

Yes, I love being "retired"! Although, I'm as busy as ever! :goodvibes

DD has transitioned amazingly well. We are so thankful! It was between an all-girls Catholic HS and a co-ed Catholic HS, and she picked the co-ed. (go figure... ) She's met such wonderful new friends, participating in the Performing Arts Club and Music Ministry, and keeping her grades up. We are very proud of her. :flower3:

Scanned some of the Flat Stanley photos.. lol This was in 2002, Road Trip to Indiana for DH aunt & uncle's 50th wedding anniversary.

At WOD, they now have Mickey Mary Jane Crocs. I thought they were cute. I need to go back and try them on.

I didn't know there was a scrapbook store. That might be a dangerous place for my credit card.

I'm going to find out about the cruise. I was thinking maybe the Grand 1. But we'll see. My parents are pretty simple. I'm the extravagant one :lmao:

I would definitely send Stanley to you. You can have fun with him :thumbsup2

We have ADRs at the California Grill. I wonder if they should go to a different signature restaurant.

WoD-I always do the bulk of my shopping there for the Visa discount.

I didn't know you get a discount with the Disney Visa at WOD. Goes to show how much I read the stuff Chase sends me.

What's Basin?

La Nouba for the two of them is a great idea.

I'll be stuck alone with my nephew :scared1:
