Chit Chat Thread - November ADRs...

Sorry I'm still on the hoarders topic but a woman in my FB group said the other day she saw someone else's log (not sure what log she means but that's not important) and this person had a dinner booked at each park for EVERY night of her 9 day trip.
Yup I believe it. Lots of people book multiple times in one day for the same restaurant, too. That means they could have 3 BOG when they only really want 1!!

I dont like hoarders anymore than the next, but Disney makes it VERY difficult to make an ADR at 180 days out, but have to wait til 60 days for FP and thats why people like that book a restaurant for each park because they dont know what FP they will get, where and when.

Personally speaking we're going for 10 days so while I'm not 100% I'll get every FP+ we want, I'm not worried as we'll be at each park more than once so what we dont get one day, we're hoping for the next or even 3rd.

I kind of think they have it backwards. We should make our FP first and then ADRs since that is the reason so many people hoard.

I think they should do it all at one time. 30 days. 60 days is even pushing it. My daughter said it best on my 180 day mark when she came downstairs and asked what I was doing:

Me: Making dining reservations for our trip
DD: But we're not going away until after Halloween you said
Me: Yes, but if we want to eat at your favorite places we need to book them now
DD: Well that's just stupid
Me:

I agree in not having to book so far out, but I sure wouldn't want to be booking ADRs and FP+ at the same time!! I like that they are separate. I can only worry about one thing at a time!! :scared: Lol!!

Hoarders are definitely frustrating! But I do find it hard to fully plan at 180 days. I do have one night where I have a Coral Reef and Crystal Palace ADR in the same night. I'm still trying to decide if we're doing the christmas party or not (leaning towards not). Also, I've been trying to get a CP ADR at another time which would help me make the decision. Anyway, just saying I can understand holding on to a few extras. But 21 extras for 1 restaurant?? That's nuts.

Im starting to think I picked a piss poor week to be in WDW as most people rescheduling or canceling ADRs Im missing by a matter of days. *sigh*

I "liked" this, but not because you can't get ADRs but because I am getting worried that the week before Thanksgiving won't have as "low" crowds as predicted! I looked at extending my stay by a night and the entire resort is booked solid - not one room is available! And ADRs were ridiculous even at the 180 day mark...that's "low" crowds??!! It's just my DH and myself and so we have lots of flexibility in our travel time and I try to pick times that are slow but every year that seems impossible! Good for Disney I guess, not so fun for us. I'm nervous but hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised :goodvibes

That is crazy to me! My first thought was "how do people do that when Disney doesn't let you book reservations within a few hours of each other?" but then I answered my own question by realizing that people probably book under different names in their parties!

But I think this was a problem even before FP+. I can see your point but avid planners (who I am assuming are the people booking multiple reservations across multiple days) can have a pretty good idea of what park they are going to when by looking at crowd calendars, park schedules, and show times. Even if they narrow it down to two parks and book a dinner at two places, I can understand that. But like an example that Idauksch gave where someone had a dinner reservation at each park for the entire 9 day stay?? I just find it hard to believe that someone wouldn't be able to do a little better planning for being a Disney-pro.

The worst hoarder I have seen had 21 bog adrs. No, just no

Ugh!!! That just seems unnecessary! Sometimes I wonder if it's just the "pride" of being able to hoard all the precious BOGs?

LOL! That's totally my DH! He thinks it's nuts! And it is!

Although one time we were hanging out with some friends who were going to WDW over New Year's and they had not made any ADRs. It was about 3 months out and they were planning on winging it but wanted to have a nice sit down meal in MK on the 31st. I impressed on them the necessity of trying to get a reservation ASAP and that it may just be too late. He called the next day and got an ADR for CP with no problem! LOL! I think he thought I was an idiot!

Again, it's understandable if you really are torn between two plans at 180 days. It is ridiculous to plan this far ahead! But you have it narrowed down to two places for one night. If I can get a BOG lunch I may grab it because even though I have a dinner I'm still not 100% I don't want lunch. But that's one meal on one specific day. I think "hoarder" is someone who is there 9 days and has 5 ADRs for breakfast, lunch, and dinner just so they have a reservation at each park and their resort. You have to be able to plan a little better than that IMO - LOL!

But as long as people can do it, they will! And there are valid arguments about how crazy it is to get ADRs at times, planning 180 days out, and FP+ planning - so I guess it will be what it will be :goodvibes

My experience has been that ADRs only need to be an hour and 5 or 10 minutes apart so they wouldn't even need multiple accounts! You could do a 3, 4:10, 5:20 etc. You can cram a lot of ADRs into a day that way!! Crazy!!

Since I brought up my FB group already :) someone also said that a CM told them they were working on a way to prevent people from hoarding ADRs. She said something like if you had two of the same restaurant at the same meal in your itinerary they would drop them?? Not sure how that will work for sure or if it's even true but even so it's not going to stop people from booking 5 different restaurants for dinner or people from booking a BOG every night of their trip even if they only plan to use one. I really don't think their is a good solution other than my suggestion of booking FP first (why don't they just ask me) ;) I also think not booking either so far out would help too.

Oh wow - I thought it prevented multiple reservations within 2-3 hours not less than 90 minutes apart!

Nope! But I think it should be a couple of hours at least! It would help with the hoarding for sure!

Oh yeah that's been my experience with changing ADR times too. I was shocked the first time it didn't make me cancel because I had assumed it was by meal.

I'm not sure if we're thinking of the same person but I *definitely* remember an absurd BOG hoarder posting in the May thread. I can't remember exactly how many they had booked, but there were sometimes in excess of a few times *per meal* per day (so lunch at 12, 1, and 2, and dinner at 6, 7, and 8 or something).

I will admit that I'm sitting on a couple duplicate reservations (like, the same place for dinner on 2 separate days) while we firm up travel plans/which days we're spending in which park for this November. Once we firm things up, I'll post what we won't use in the cancellation thread--I hope that's okay DIS decorum?

Well, since I got us all on the topic of hoarding now I have a question for you lovely people. So I know there have been multiple threads with people asking about what they do if they have an pre-park opening ADR. I never paid much attention to them because I knew they let you in early and I wasn't worried about. However, the one time I paid attention one person's answer made it sound like they let everyone with pre-park opening ADRs in at the same time. Is that true? I have an 8:20 CRT on a day MK opens at 9 but I was thinking if I could (big if) I wanted to try and get an 8:05 to get in earlier but if it's true we all go in at the same time then I think I want to keep my 8:20 because that would give me more time for nearly empty park photos. I had assumed they would let me in at 8 not 7:45.

...and this person had a dinner booked at each park for EVERY night of her 9 day trip.

This is impossible isn't it? You can't have a meal booked at a different place for the same time slot (I think it's a 2 hour window?).

The only way I could see doing this is booking a dinner at 3pm, 5pm 7pm and 9pm, for each park, for each night. If that's the case, then yes, that's insane.
