A new one is opening near us. Can youtell me what some of your favorite things to order are and what their prices are like. I am hoping its similar to baja fresh and rubios ( both of which are near my parents but not near us).

Thanks jen

I am a HUGE Chipotle fan! It works like a Subway but for Mexican food.

You have a choice of tacos (hard or soft), burritos, salads, or burrito bowls (same as a burrito but no tortilla). The deal with pricing is it is based on the meat not the type of food.

There are several "meat" choices. Steak, Chicken, Pork (Carnitas), Shredded beef (Barbacoa), or Vegetarian (Black beans and guac)

The cheapest is VEGETARIAN and the most expensive is STEAK. The prices vary with the area of the country, but you're looking at around $7 for an entree.

IMO the best value is the hard tacos, ESPECIALLY when the place is new. The employees don't quite know how to fill the shells and you end up with extras of everything when it spills out of the shells. They can't go back in and remove what fell from the spoon. The shells don't stay hard for long, but I don't so much mind that.

Here's how you go down the line:

1: Choose your vessel and your meat, for here or to go (e.g. Steak burrito bowl to go)

2: Rice (brown or white, with cilantro and lime!)

3: Beans (Vegetarian black beans OR pinto with bacon. You can ask for both if you like)

4: Fajita vegetables (This is a simple yes or no. Mix of bell peppers and onions, sauteed. I usually look to see if they look appetizing and if they do, I get them!)

5: Meat (Unless you chose veggie, then wait until the end for the guac)

6: Salsa (4 choices: Corn, tomato, green, and really spicy red. That is in order from least to most spicy. FYI: I love spicy food and the red salsa is QUITE hot, even for me!)

7: Sour cream and Cheese

8: Guac (Unless you got veggie, guac is extra. Something like $2 for that.)

9: Lettuce

10: The register. You can add soft drinks, bottled drinks, and chips (with salsa or guac if you like).

IF YOU WANT TO TRY SOMETHING BEFORE YOU GET IT THE FIRST TIME just ask :) They are very good about tasting. Also, there will be a day before they open when they give out free burritos because they are training their staff. It is a long wait, but it's free!

I love their burrito bowls! I like getting mine with chicken, brown rice, corn salsa, sour cream and cheese, and lettuce. I love it! It's actually the only thing I really like at Chipotle.

My friends and I are broke college students, and we like to go to Chipotle when we do a day trip anywhere. It's good and cheap compared to other places we like to eat. :)

They have brown rice?

I thought they just had the rice with cilantro - does the brown have it too?

I heard most of what they have (I don't do meat, so by this I mean the rice, beans, salsa) is all cilantro-ed up, and I have the cilantro thing so I've never tried Chipotle. True or NOT TRUE?

I was addicted to Chipotle from like 2006 to like 2010,I still go maybe once or twice a month but nowhere near as much as I used to.The menu is real simple, you first have to decide do you want a burrito,a burrito bowl which is basically a burrito without the tortilla, tacos,or a salad. Then they ask you if you want rice and black or pinto beans. Then you get the meat added along with the salsas, cheese, sour cream and guacamole. The Guacamole adds like $1.80 to your order but it's more than worth it as they make the best guacamole anywhere(seriously!!)I usually get a burrito with rice but no beans with steak or chicken, green tomatillo and if I get chicken I also ask for corn salsa, cheese, sour cream and guacamole.I'll also get chips and guacamole if I'm very hungry. One thing you have to know is that they're not stingy when adding the ingredients and if you want a little more than the employee put on you just ask them for a little extra, this makes for some burritos that are huge.I've been to all the other burrito places,Baja fresh,Moes southwest grill,Pancheros,Qdoba and even though I don't go as frequently as I used to Chipotle is my clear favorite.Baja Fresh is OK but I order their Baja Burrito and the inside is like 60% tomatoes, the closest burrito place to my house is a Panchero's,I think I've been two or three times as they have these pre- measured scoops they use which makes for a burrito about half the size of Chipotle for like maybe a dollar less, just not worth it and it's just not as good, rice is not the same, guac is not the same etc...Another thing you notice all the time when you go to Chipotle and compare it to the other burrito places,Chipotle is always full, the only one that somewhat comes close is Moes, but definitely not as much, people know which places are good, every time I go to the one by the University of Miami it's like a 30 minute wait, college kids love this place and Chipotle knows this as they probably have a location by every major university.

I've never seen the brown rice.Maybe some locations have them but not the ones near me.

at some locations I've been to, they've had two types of rice, and at others, just one. I'm pretty sure the one near my house has just one type of rice, but the one near my college has two types.

I noticed the brown rice being offered a couple of weeks ago.

I get the fajita burrito bowl. It is so good. Portions are very large. I can get two meals out of it.

I like the Pork Carnitas with corn sala, sour cream and cheese in a hard taco or the same add pinto beans in a bowl. I'll frequently add the guac, as its really good :goodvibes

Carnita fajita burrito

with corn salsa, lettuce and cheese.

Yum!

Where's the Barbacoa love? This is really something special! It's a seasoned shredded beef that is so good! I also like to mix it up on the salsa (half mild tomato- it's like pico de gallo- and half corn salsa). Guac is so worth it!

I looove the Barbacoa!

I get a Barbacoa bowl with tomato salsa, cheese, cilantro-lime rice & black beans. Add a bag of chips, a drink and its perfect for my 16 month old and I to share.

My oldest has his first daycare day tomorrow and now I'm debating driving to chipotle, a half hour away! :rotfl:

AHHH you have my mouth watering.

My favorite meal from them is

-Burrito
-white rice
-1/2 chicken, 1/2 steak (if you do 1/2 and 1/2 I find they give you more meat)
-Pico De Gallo
-Corn and medium salsa
-Then lots of cheese (no charge for extra cheese)

The burrito turns out to be the size of my face and lunch just turned into dinner.

I have to stay that all of their food is actually fresh and not "bad" for you.
The beef is all free range organic, and most of everything is prepared fresh at that chipotle location.

DO NOT FORGET THE CHIPS THEY ARE TO DIE FOR
as a matter of fact GET TWO BAGS!

so a total chipotle bill for me with the burrito, 2 bags of chips and a drink usually is 12 bucks, but weights about 5 lbs

And if you want to Carb Load, or make your meal last even longer, order your burrito Double Wrapped.

I'm another huge Chipotle fan.

My regular is usually;

burrito
1/2 steak (depends on the location, I've been to a few that the steak was chewy and not very good)
1/2 barbacoa
white rice
black beans
lettuce, sour cream, cheese, green salsa

Their burritos are HUGE. I'm a 200lb guy and LOVE to eat. One of their burritos will stuff me. If I go around 2-3 (my usual "lunch" time), I usually only have a small snack for dinner (9'ish) because I'm still stuffed from hours before. I have a pic with a AAA card next to it for size reference, I'll upload it when I get a second. $6 or $7 for my burrito. Excellent value for what you get! I'm still hungry after a $7 value meal at Wendy's and $7 at Taco Bell? That's a light snack for me. I've only had 1 or 2 not-so-great things from Chipotle before, but nothing that would stop me from going back, very high quality stuff!

Their chips are ok, nothing special, overpriced for what you get IMO.

Sarah mentioned fajita veggies and brown rice, I'll have to keep an eye out for that, my local store doesn't have those options, unless they added them right before Christmas.

And if you want to Carb Load, or make your meal last even longer, order your burrito Double Wrapped.

They have HAD to double wrap mine a few times- it was so full they couldn't close it LOL!
I usually get a vegetarian burrito with white rice, black AND pinto beans (yes I know they are made with bacon LOL), mild tomato salsa and the corn salsa, extra cheese and guacamole. I usually eat half and save the other half for dinner!

They have a cell phone app that you can order from too! Tells you what time your order will be ready, and you get to skip the line when picking it up. :)

I always order:
burrito bowl
3 flour tortillas on the side
easy on the white rice (ours just added brown rice about a month ago)
pinto beans
steak (sometimes I order double steak)
mild salsa (it's basically pico de gallo)
corn salsa
sour cream (its not the thick stuff, it's thin like Mexican crema)
easy on the lettuce

sweet tea to drink

DD #1 orders - she's vegan and LOVES this place
hard tacos
brown rice
black beans
mild salsa
corn salsa
guacamole (included in price of veggie items)

Izze to drink -various flavors

DD #2 orders:
burrito bowl
3 flour tortillas on the side
white rice
pinto beans or black beans (depends on her mood)
chicken
mild salsa
corn salsa
cheese
guacamole (extra charge)

Coke to drink

The amount of food there is huge - often I get a take out burrito bowl with a tortilla and guac on the side and bring it home for dinner - can feed 2-3 depending on appetites.

One thing I typically do is order the kids meal for myself. I have never had a problem ordering it or been told you have to be a child to order. For just over $4 I get a small chicken quesadilla, rice, beans, chips and a drink. Plenty of food for a regular lunch meal.

I am a bit addicted - we now have about 3 stores within 10 miles so it is definately on my to-go list.
