Hi.. is it worth it? is it too crowded?
What time do we have to get there?
Thanka!

(Family trip with a senior and a 5yr old)

When are you going? There are two different times it starts during the year. The campfire lighting is at either at 6:30 or 7p with the Sing Along starting at either 7 or 730p.

If you go to this post in the "Fort Wilderness Resort Information ( a work in progress)" thread you can choose the month you are going. They are older recreation calendars but have the basic times. Also some one usual posts the current calendar on the Camping Thread every month.

As for tips you can bring you own stuff to make s'mores or you can buy what you need there. They also show a movie right after that changes nightly.

Great! Do you know if those recreation calendars are available in advance for planning? Thanks..

They are not released too far in advance, maybe a few days before the next month IIRC. There is/was a way to get them as soon as Disney uploaded them but I would have to search and see if I still have the link on how to do it.

As far as I know, you're not restricted to cook marshmallows and I heard some folks bring hot dogs and their own buns. I was there last week and wasn't too crowded. I think it is a very good event and worth a try at least once.

During Daylight Savings Time (approximately) the fires are lit at 730p, the Singalong starts at 8p, and the movie rolls about 840p. This is approximately March-October.

The times are one hour EARLIER during Standard time (November-February).

PS - we've done hot dogs there no problem. they don't catch fire like the burning lumps of sugar (marshmallows) that kids wave them around trying to put them out....

Definitly worth it. To get my daughter hyped up , we watched a few chip and dale clasics. It was one of the highlights of the trip to meet them and hug them. Show was fun for the little ones also. Go have fun , we left halfway through the movie afterwards as it was way past her bed time. Have fun, its free. Not much free in disney.

We always do it at least once during our trip. The sing a long is a lot of fun. There is plenty of seating and some even bring their own camp chairs. Chip and Dale usually slit up so they can go see 1/2 the crowd at a time and they give the kids plenty of time for a hug and picture. We bring our own s’more stuff but they have kits for sale that make plenty. We never stay for the movie but usually go down to the beach to watch the fireworks and electrical water pageant. It’s a very relaxing evening and fun for the entire family!!!

If we are lucky we get there 10-15 early. We have even shown up late and joined everything. It is busy but not “packed crazy busy” where you won’t get a seat. There are benches at ground level and a few sets of bleachers. There is always a time posted that they light the campfire. I wouldn’t stress about getting there super early. The sing a long is no stress fun time!!!

I'm so excited to finally do this on our trip in Sept! We have HDDR adrs at 4:00pm and then plan to get to the campfire sing-a-long by 7:00pm! I've wanted to check out Fort Wilderness sooo many times, but it's just never worked in our plans. This time, though, it's gonna happen! YAY!

As I said earlier, be aware on the summer rotation (September) the fires are lit at 730p and not really ready until about 745p for marshmallows and the singalong starts at 8p. Nothing's happening at 7p except maybe some games of the type you get at your own resort. But that might be a fun experience.

The Chip & Dale Campfire Singalong at Fort Wilderness is a timeless classic. I was raised on it (well, once but I NEVER forgot it) and my children have been raised on it. And hopefully their kids will too.

People from around the lake come to this.... Bring your own... smores kits... and make sure you have an extra large adult cocktail.... The last time we went, we were able to be the honorary camp host and had meet and greet - pics and walk chip and dale into the amphitheater. Its one of those pictures that hang on the wall,

We enjoyed it. We didn't do the campfire, but we arrived in time for the sing along.
