chip n dale campfire and tour

I'm staying at the Motel 6 on Irlo Bronson. I spend the day with my family at the Magic Kingdom, travel to FW to catch the Hoop De Do and wan to go to the campfire afterwards. Am I allowed?

I want to go a step further Tim, there are poolside movies at the higher priced resorts, is someone staying off property entitled or even welcomed by Disney to go to those? (I think not) What I remember reading is only resort guests are allowed at any of these including the one at the Fort. I believe those off property are not officially welcomed by Disney.

I will see if I can find what I read on the Disney website to post later.

I really don't think you are going to find anything. Disney likes to keep things in the "gray area". As long as you are spending money I think Disney is happy and they are not going to enforce any "rules".

As I read along, I have to say that I agree with Chartle 100%, and I do not understand why there is so much confusion.

Certain things are available to guests of specific resorts (i.e., swimming pools). Certain things are available to ALL guests of the Walt Disney World Resort (and you do not need to be staying on property or even have a theme park ticket). You just have to be a "guest" (aka someone who drives onto the property). The campfire at Fort Wilderness is one of those things. It is available to anyone who drives onto Disney property.

I did a quick (30 second) Internet search and found verification. Here is a website that mentions it:

FAQ:

Do you have to stay at the Campground to go to Chip and Dale's Campfire Sing-A-Long?

No, the campfire sing-along and outdoor movie are available to all Disney Guests.
For those not staying on Disney property and/or not visiting the parks, most anything that is open to Walt Disney World guests is open to you, too. For those staying on Disney property, additional amenties may be available to you (i.e. EMH, pools, private lounges, etc.). For those with theme park tickets, of course, the attractions and restaurants within the park are available. But many, many things are available to all Walt Disney World Resort guests, and you do not have to pay one penny.

I think it is possible that Disney might make (and enforce) a rule if it ever became a problem for guests of the specific resorts, but from what I have seen, it is not.

I have not seen the movies all that crowded. It is similar to people who are touring the resort (and not staying at it) who go outside and enjoy the beach area for a while. It's not off limits the way the pools are off limits.

If it becomes a problem, then Disney will need to make (and enforce) some rules. If it is not a problem, then it is open to those not staying at the resort.

Someone who comes onto WDW property is a visitor.
Someone who pays to stay onsite at WDW is a guest.

Yes, :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Really ?!?!? "and you do not have to pay one penny'',,,OH COME ON,,REALLY ?!?!?

AGAIN, I say just show me a OFFICIAL DISNEY web site that says "and you do not have to pay one penny" !!

Even I could start a web site and say ridiculous beliefs of what I'd like.

Think about it, it's not that hard,,who do you think is paying for all this so called "FREE" amenities to EVERYONE ? Do you think it's the people who stay at the resorts who pay "120.00 -$300.00 a night,
or the guy who wanders onto Disney and buys a t-shirt ??? It certainly isn't the guy who stays at the Motel 6 !!!
Really, as stated earlier by a PP, "I would think that your sense of right and wrong would kick-in " ,,and yes, since Disney has gray areas, shouldn't people use their sense of right or wrong, well of course they should. But if they did that then they couldn't use ill conceived reasoning to justify their actions.

Are the playgrounds and dog park also available to everyone wandering up to them ?

Just pay for a tent site and then go to the movie; and take a dip in the pool afterward. You will not have to feel uncomfortable and no one else can say you did not pay to be there.

I did another brief search, and although, so far, Disney just mentions that the Campfire Sing-A-Long is available, and doesn't say who it is for, several other sites reiterate what I said:

http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopi..._Dale_Shhs_It_s_A_Secret-Orlando_Florida.html

Disney is paying for the event. And if they want to offer free amenities to people not staying onsite, that is their business (literally). They may do it to build customer loyalty. A family who visits the Campfire Sing-A-Long may very well decide to purchase tickets to the parks to see more characters. Or they may decide to stay at a Disney resort to immerse themselves in the Disney experience.

The same would be true of a family who walks along the shores of Bay Lake without staying onsite. Would you make the beaches exclusive for guests staying onsite only?

I do not see how this is any different than Starbucks offering a free bite-size sample of some pastry in their case. Do you complain because you (as a paying customer) are paying for "said pastry" every time you purchase a latte? No. You don't. Because you know that Starbucks is doing this with their profits to lure in more business. That's the same thing Disney is doing, when Disney allows guests who are not staying onsite to enjoy a sample of its amenities.

Pool hopping, when you are not entitled to pool hop, is a matter of "right and wrong" and that is when peoples' conscience should kick in. Enjoying the Chip and Dale Campfire Sing-A-Long or a stroll along a Disney beach is NOT a matter of "right and wrong" and guests not staying at a Disney resort should NOT feel guilty for enjoying these activities.

If Disney ever decides to make a change, they will let us know. You are not going to make me feel guilty for taking a bite-size sample at Disney World, when everything I have seen and experienced has told me that Disney wants me to enjoy!

Oh for the love of .....!!!!!!!!

I give up.

Your absolutely right,,everything you say, everything you read (EVEN THO
YOU CAN'T FIND ANYTHING OFFICIAL DISNEY ON THE MATTER), you are absolutely right,,I believe you ,,and absolutely no one ever has to go to or buy from Disney,,they have money that just grows on trees at Epcot and they just harvest all this money and spend it on things to give to all the people ,,FOR FREE ,,so no one has to spend money at Disney, IT'S ALL FREE !!:woohoo::woohoo:Out of the kindness of Disneys heart , they want you to have everything FREE!!

So what your tell'n me is that if EVERYONE who normally camps at the Fort can stay at Motel 6 for a mere FRACTION of the price and stay and enjoy EVERYTHING DISNEY FOR FREE !! :woohoo:!!

OH MY GOD ,, the tens of THOUSANDS of dollars I could have saved over the years IF ONLY I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT LIKE YOU !!
HOW FRIGGN STUPID I AM !!!

Reck'n ya'll have taught me me a thing or two ! Boy my mom would sure be proud to know that I finally wised up to how things are really done in this world, heck it only took me 50 years to finally figure out that I'm entitled to everything for free ,,well so long as others are putting out 3 grand for their vacation, then Disney wants me to have the same thing FREE !!

And just so you know,, your Starbucks thing is totally off the wall NOTHING even close to similar like the Disney discussion .

AGAIN SHOW ME OFFICIAL DISNEY and STOP making stuff up to try to justify your actions/motives

One thing that I will say about me,,if I'm gonna be a freeloader or mooch, at least I'd admit it

And if you wanna talk samples, do you not know what a sample is ?? A sample is just that a SMALL piece of, NOT THE WHOLE THING !!
And I gotta tell you, all my years at ANYTHING Disney I have never read or see ANYTHING that said SAMPLE from Disney !
So in your mind, what you do is simply a sample of Disney,,do you spose people SAMPLE Disney ? Like go to a pool , get in it for say, one, maybe two minutes and leave ?? You spose people SAMPLE the campfire , go to it look at it for, maybe two or three minutes, then leave ?? Of course not, don't be silly. Yet it's okay to come and SAMPLE Disney OVER and OVER again when ever and how often you want ! Cause it's only a SAMPLE ! And we all know SAMPLES are FREE, after all, no one has to pay for them !

So what is it that you think all the PAYING customers get for all that money they put out to stay on property that is different from all the FREE amenities that you think is OFFERED to the public for FREE ???

Why am I being labeled a freeloader? Even if visiting the Campfire Sing-A-Long IS freeloading (and it is not), I have never visited it.

And when did I say that people who stay at Motel 6 can enjoy "everything" Disney offers for free? You are putting words in my mouth, because you realize the weakness of your argument.

What I did say is that people who stay at Motel 6 can enjoy the Campfire Sing-A-Long, and they can. I did another quick search (another 30 seconds) and found this official word from Disney:

http://wdwnews.com/releases/2007/05...-funfor-everyone-at-walt-disney-world-resort/

Starbucks offering free samples IS similar to Disney offering a sample of its entertainment by making the Campfire Sing-A-Long open to all guests, even ones that do not stay in a Disney-owned resort.

And it is smart on Disney's part. Despite the fact that Fort Wilderness has been open since 1971, many people do not even realize it exists. By offering this free entertainment, they are encouraging people to visit and experience the vastness of the Walt Disney World Resort. I do not think the location is a coincidence. Disney wants to promote the Fort! The Sing-A-Long is one way to do it.

I absolutely never called you a freeloader, but simply made a general statement.

And I ask
AGAIN, show me ANY OFFCIAL Disney site that says FREE,
or TRY IT FREE
or FREE SAMPLES
or OPEN TO THE PUBLIC FOR FREE
or YOU DON'T HAVE TO PAY A PENNY
or OFFERING FREE ENTERTAINMENT
or COME AND ENJOY ANYTHING DISNEY FREE !!
or ANYTHING FREE,,, WE WANT YOU TO TRY IT ON US !!
WELL !!! WAITING !!!:rolleyes1

Oh, and this site,
http://wdwnews.com/releases/2007/05/...-world-resort/
says GUESTS !!! NOT VISITORS, and NO where is ANYTHING FREE mentioned in this article to sample, try, etc. for anyone wandering onto the property. It specifically says GUESTS ! NOT visitors.

okay, your turn.popcorn::

The official Disney site (the one that I linked) clearly states that the Campfire Sing-A-Long is FREE to Walt Disney World Guests.

It does NOT say Walt Disney World RESORT Guests; it says Walt Disney World Guests.

And even if it did say Resort Guests (which it does not), I believe anyone visiting the 47 square mile property is a Disney Resort Guest, not just those staying overnight in a Disney-owned Resort. Because the 47 square mile property is known as The Walt Disney World Resort.

Why do you think Disney calls it "Guest Services"? Why do they have a "Guest Relations"? Do these two offices provide information and services exclusively for those staying at a Disney-owned resort? Or do they exist to provide information and services for anyone visiting the Walt Disney World property?

Disney even has a "Guest Services" for people just visiting their website. Disney considers ANYONE who visits their property (real or virtual) as their GUEST.

Cue the music, "Be Our Guest" from Beauty and the Beast. And I rest my case :rotfl:

But seriously, from looking at your posts, it looks like you love the Fort and are a loyal Disney guest. If you feel strongly that it is not fair to offer the Campfire Sing-A-Long to those who are not staying at the Fort, you should let Disney know.

Or maybe you feel it is okay for anyone to attend who is staying overnight in a Disney-owned resort, but not for those staying off property? If so, let Disney know that.

Either way, let Disney know!

I personally think it's nice that Disney offers it for free to anyone. I can imagine lots of families might like to go to the Sing-A-Long after attending something else nearby. And if it is not overly crowded, why not? But if you feel differently, you should let Disney know.

Best wishes! Your passion for the Fort has me interested in giving it a try myself.

I just want better security when I stay at the fort; specifically that the folks around me at the pool, at the campfire, at the comfort stations etc, have paid something to be there as I have, and have some trace of identification within Disney's "system".

I dont think that is unreasonable in these days of being groped just to board an airliner to want my Disney campground to have some minimal security in place.

Call me selfish, but when I am paying out the nose to stay at FW, I want to be surrounded by others who also paid out the nose. I dont want locals in the pool, in the comfort stations, in my loop...unless they have paid for a site or are a registered guest of a registered camper.

Card 'em at the gate/bus stop and keep them out. Other resorts guests, not crazy about them using the FW amenities, and I do include the campfire/movie as an amenity but at least they pass the "paid out the nose" test and arent likely to disappear into the night {more likely back to their DW hotel room}.

You win.
All the amenities at Disney are "free" for your taking. Even tho I have repeatedly asked, "Show me OFFICIALLY" and you CAN'T.(But you are very good at saying "I believe".

Go and enjoy all that "free" "and you do not have to pay one penny" for stuff that Disney has to offer that everybody else has to pay out the nose for.

And on behalf of all us GUESTS who pay out the nose for the privileges and amenities at Disney,
to all of you VISITORS who enjoy all this so called FREE stuff Disney offers you, (apparently,,or at least in "your belief")
you are welcome.

it still just baffles me why it is Disney thinks I should pay out the nose for this stuff and not you ?
wonder why some folk are privileged/entitled and others have to pay ?

oh well, you win.

I agree....I don't like the fact that just anyone can roam by my campsite.

Heres a little "FREE", Tip for the folk who stay in the cabins or rooms at Disney resorts.

When you are finished with your stay at Disney, just take the towels and bed linens with you when you leave, they are FREE to guests. Now, I did a quick(30second) search and could not find anything on any official Disney (or otherwise) site to actually verify this claim.
BUT I didn't find anything that said this wasn't true either ! Therefore, since I believe this is true, then it must be true, right ?
I mean, seriously, if Disney didn't want us to take the towels and bed linens, they wouldn't put that stuff in the rooms,,,they would tell us to bring our own stuff to use,,right ?
Boy that Disney with their slight of hand sure knows what they are doing, don't they,:goodvibes . They think that since we took that stuff and have it at home then it will make us think to make another ressie, return to Disney again and buy a T-Shirt.
Disney, they are a sneaky bunch, ;)

That is what we do. Figure it saves Disney the money to transport, wash and fold them. See we are actually saving them money! They should thank us.

(Nice one, I actually laughed when i read your post.)

I do agree, Fort Wilderness has no security what so ever. As long as you don't need to take a vehicle onto the grounds you can get all of the way from I4 to Pioneer Hall unchallanged and then anywhere on property. Years ago when you boarded a boat or bus you had to show your resort ID (one per party)... I guess to speed up the boarding process they stopped. :confused3

Wow, I did not mean to make such a heated topic. I lived at the beach where hotels have restaraunts/bars that even if you weren't a guest, you were allowed to come and spend money at just like people would spend money buying smores stuff at the campfire. CM's families have special privileges (i.e. getting into parks for free), and I wasn't sure if it was the same for things like the campfire. No I would have not gone swimming in the pool for free, but would have spent money at the campfire. We do really want to stay at the Fort one day, but planning on doing so after we get our travel trailer. Anyways, the good news is... I am a "WDW Resort guest" now! CM cousin got us 50% off of Pop and DP for $27.99 pp and $11.99 for my son, so I couldn't turn that down! :cool1:
