Years ago (just MK and Epcot parks at WDW at that time),
we were at our very first Character Breakfast (Minnie's Menehune Breakfast at the Poly) and Chip 'n Dale were there.
They were each visiting the tables separately from the other (and causing lots of trouble
).This was my very first "private" character interaction and I said something like, "Are you Chip or Dale?"
The chipmunk instantly held up two fingers, (meaning the second name I'd said, or "Dale.")
It was then I realized just how much the "mute" characters can convey with only sign language and body language.
They are really amazing to "talk to."
To this day, we always make sure to schedule at least one Character Meal every trip.
Like others stated chip has the chocolate nose. He pointed to his nose to let me know.
) I ask DW which one is Chip and she points to her nose and says 'the one with the chocolate chip nose'.
