Do people go to this if not staying in the Wilderness area? Thought it might make a fun finish to an Animal Kingdom day, since AK closes at 5:00. Looking for information about
1. how much walking is involved once bus drops you off (will be 6 mo pg)

2. What time does it start? Does it make sense to go right from AK to the campfire? How late does it go?

3. Can we get transportation back to our resort (All Star Movies) afterward by bus? I know a lot of times you have to get transfers when going from resort to resort, but not sure how this would work.

4. We're just interested in the singalong and roasting marshmallows part, how does the movie part work?

Yes! We took DD after dining at the Hoopdee Doo Review. You just get a bus from the Resort to the Camp fire area. I can't remmber exactly what area it was but the buses are color coded ( I think it was orange bus). Just ask at the kiosk right near the wagon rides. It was too far to walk from there but there might be an easier way to get there.

DD loved it and the marshmallow roast was nice. You purchase the kits or campers brought their own. There was also a movie when we were there in December! Have fun it is a mice break and quiet at the campground:)

We got the boat back to MK I think after the movie and then from there we got our hotel bus. Sort of a hike but not too bad. That night it was freezing cold out so it was a good night for hot chocolate and marshmallow roasting:)

I think the marsh/snore kits were around five bucks.

It's at Fort Wilderness, not Wilderness lodge.
I thinkthe walk is 15 minutes from the boat dock. Or you can take a campground bus. I don't know what time of year you are going, but at this time of year, it starts at 7 and I think about 45 minutes into it the movie then starts. I've yet to go. I was thinking maybe this year, but now I've planned so much, that it just might be too late for us on our free night. I guess some people in my party may want to sleep. I just don;t get it? LOL! :confused3

When we were there in Oct, we took the campground bus from the parking lot, it was a very short walk. It seems like you could see the area from the bus stop, maybe 100 yards or so...We drove, so I could not tell you a lot about the transfer part. We did go sit on the beach though and watch the MK fireworks and the Electric Water Pageant too.

We were hoping to do this next month. Is the Electric Water Pageant before or after the fireworks?? I was hoping to see the movie schedule posted before we go.

We did this last summer. We were staying right at Ft Wilderness, but there were others from other resorts there as well. What you can do is either drive or take the bus from Animal Kingdom to ft. Wilderness. They will drop you off at the bus stop in the main parking lot (or if you're driving, you will already be there).

Then from that stop, take a certain colored bus that goes toward the Hoop-de-Doo stop and about 1/2way there will be your stop for the movie. (you can find more info on which exact bus to take from the main parking lot to the stop for the campfire on the Camping board on the DIS).

They will drop you off on the side of the road. You cross the road, head down a gravel road, past the restrooms, and then to the left is a big area with sets of benches, 2 campfire pits, a little storefront selling food, a stage, and a big movie screen. It takes about 10 minutes to walk from the bus drop off.

It does make sense to go right from AK close. The movie starts at either 7 or 8, you can also find out that info and which movie is playing on the Camping Board on the DIS. About an hour before the actual movie starts is when Chip and Dale come out and there is a guy singing onstage and warming up the crowd. You can roast marshmallows anytime before, during, and after the show. Either bring your own or buy from the storefront.

I'm not sure how transportation works back to ASMovies...you have to take the bus back to the main parking lot and go from there....

We didn't stay for the movie either; I think it was something we didn't care to watch, so we just left when the movie started. When the kids get older it's something we could stay for, but two little kids at 8-9 p.m. won't sit still quietly enough not to disturb others.

Hopefully you will find most of your answers in this post. Thanks!
