Hi all, i'm new to the board and could not post this in the resturants section as I have not registered yet. I have a question about Chip and Dale at the Garden Grill.

We are going in November and really looking forward to it. We have made a few reservations as we are on the dining plan.

We made reservations a few months ago and I was wondering if anyone had any info about the Chip and Dale at the Garden Grill. Is this a character dining? Information seems to have changed on their web site.

Anyone have any thoughts?

thanks

when we went last may. (05) they were there and so was mickey. there were not a lot of people there and the time with chip dale and mickey was great . the food was really good too. give it a try :thumbsup2

We went to Garden Grill in June of this past summer. The Garden Grill is a Character dining meal. You will see Chip and Dale, Mickey, and Pluto all dressed as farmers. The meal is an all you can eat family style meal. They bring a platter of food that they will refill for you. The characters make their way around the restaurant. The food was good however being a family of 5 we were al little disappointed that we had to ask for seconds on both food and drinks. The amount of food they brought may have worked well for a group of 3-4 but was a bit slim for 2 adults, 2 teenagers , and a 8 year old boy. Even after finishing the second platter we were still hungry but since our waiter made us feel guilty for asking for the 2nd serving we didn't feel like we dared to ask for refills again. May be it was just our waiter.

Wow, that's suprising that the waiter made you guys feel "guilty". I have to think that it was just your waiter because I've never experienced this before.Either way, I agree that the Garden Grill is a good time. Food is good, characters are good & it's awesome to go thru the ride from a birds-eye view.

We just ate there last week and it was great! We had lunch and we had tons of interaction with the characters. The food was yummy and I would go there again for sure!

Maybe since we were on the Premium Plan he was watching out for our waistlines. The bottom line was the kids were starving but they only wanted to eat the catfish, and other meat type items but no vegetables so by the time my DH and I got the platter there were only the vegetables left. The second platter we at least got a sniff of the catfish. The second platter had less food on it than the first one also. I loved the atmosphere, and character interaction but honestly don't know if I will go back. As far as food goes and feeling full when we left this was our most disappointing meal, but only because of the waiter. I did feel like since he knew he would get the 18% tip no matter what he didn't feel like he needed to do anything for us.

We scheduled this for our CP pkg for Dec, so I'm curious to see what type of service we get. We're staying at SOG, so we are not on any Disney dining plan (and the tip is separate for CP pkg), so no good service...no good tip.

I'm looking forward to the characters more than the meal anyway :yay: .

I have to say this is one of my favorite restaurants in Disney because the character interraction is one of the best I have had. I've included some pictures here- we just went a couple of weeks ago. Not one bit of problem with ordering more food. We asked and the waiter brought it. We had too much food and couldn't eat it all.

Sorry I hijacked your thread. I just wanted to share the character interaction with you. This was our second time and we will eat at the Garden grill everytime we go to Disney. :thumbsup2

We were just there this past Sunday. The character interaction was wonderful! It could have been because we were there towards the end (I think they stop seating at 8 pm, and our reservations were for 7:30). Mickey, Chip, Dale and Pluto all came by, and then Chip and Dale came back as we were eating dessert. Dale "stole" some of my niece's M&M's from her cupcake platter, and then Chip sat down in my nephew's seat to eat his cupcake. It was great, and the kids had a blast.

We did make many special requests - different dressing as the Ceaser salad dressing is made with raw egg yolks (we first made our server confirm this with the kitchen), then we asked for 2nds on the salad, 2nds, and 3rds on the meat plate, and many drink refills. Overall, service was great.

Also, the resturant slowly rotates around during the dinner, so the scene kept changing, keeping the kids entertained as we waited between courses.

This is one of our family's favorite restaurants for all of the reasons mentioned below - DD and I ate there on our "girls trip" and since the booth was so big, all of the characters sat down and played with her - it was great :thumbsup2

I am looking more & more forward to our lunch there on Saturday. I'm not real big on the meat choices, but I see that they have a vegetarian choice - so I might be trying that out.

We ate ther last week. The food is family style they bring out turkey, fried catfish, flank steak, vegies, mashed potatoes bread. All very fresh and tasty.
Great character interaction. Chip and dale (we saw them everywhere I think they are multiplying) and Mickey and pluto camer around several times.
Puff pastry with cream and fruit for dessert and make your own cupcakes for the kids. I would eat here again. :thumbsup2

It is character Dining... I hear that the food is excellent.. Haven't been there, but I would like to make reservations for my upcoming trip to try the food...

Yes, it's Chip and Dale's Harvest Feast (or something like that...)...it is wonderful!!! DH and I ate there and it's a definate on our next trip!!!!

We ate there last Nov. before Candlelight. The food was good, very fresh. Chip and Dale and Farmer Mickey were all there. They all came by at different times and spent time with the DDs (9 and 11). The best part for my girls was the dessert. The kid's meal comes with a decorate your own cupcake plate. My 11 year old looked so upset when her little sister got one and she didn't, that our server brought her one too !! :thumbsup2

Glad to hear all these good reviews. It will be our first character meal when we go in November.

I just got back from WDW on Saturday night. We ate lunch @ Garden Grill while we were there & it was great, one of the best we had the entire time. Mickey, Pluto, Chip, & Dale are the characters. The catfish was awesome!!! The atmosphere is also very nice as you go thru the Living with the Land ride & get a different view of the ride. I 100% recommend it!
