Does DLR do anything special for Chinese New Year?
I'm thinking of going next January and was wondering about this?
Thanks for your input.

They had a special pin out this year with Mickey and Rizzo the rat, b/c it's the year of the rat. They put it out VERY early, though, and they were all gone before my January trip! I had to buy it off of ebay for my Rat year born hubby.

And I also saw pictures of Mickey and Minnie in traditional Chinese clothing which looked so nice, and I was so sad I missed that.

Other than that I'm not sure they do anything.

How was the weather for your trip? We live in Las Vegas but don't mind cool temps!
It would be nice to see the mice in Chinese Outfits!

I was there late Jan. It was a bit drizzly and chilly, but nothing that really bothered me (since I've lived in western WA since I was 17 with only 4 years away). I was there for less than 48 hours though, so I didn't get a big dose of the weather.

Chinese New Year usually occurs in February, so if you're gonna go in January, you'll be a bit too early. I took these pics on Feb 17 last year on MS and actually got to see Mickey in his Chinese outfit. He was soooo cute! I took a pic w/ him, but I don't think anyone needs to see a pic of me. So here are some others that I took!

Here's the backdrop that we stood infront of:

Here's a sign that was on the side explaining the different Asian New Year's and the zodiac signs:

Disney doesn't really do anything special for Chinese New Year's, but since it was the year of the rat/mouse, they decided to make it a big thing since Mickey is the mouse in charge! At the most, they would just make a pin.

That is so cute how they used Characters for each of the animal symbols! Thanks for sharing your pics!

We went during Chinese New Year last year and thought Mickey was quite spiffy in his Chinese clothes. We have a nice pic of our family with him. It will be interesting to see what they do this year.

I hadn't really thought about the rat/mouse thing (other than Mickey and Rizzo) being why they did something. I figured they just always did something! What a bummer if they don't. Asian New Year covers a whole lotta people, and honoring it could make a whole lotta people happy with them!

Has anyone found out any information? We will be there during CNY and would like to make sure we are included in any celebrations. I figured Epcot might do something since they have the Chinese pavilion. If anyone knows, please let me know.

I see on disneypins.com that there's an upcoming *cast member only* pin that is Chinese New Year related. Year of the Ox is on a banner, with Mickey in his chinese outfit below, and lanterns dangling down.

Oh, and how CUTE! A pin for regular people here.

Last year there was no indication that I heard about them doing anything for it...they had the pin, but I didn't know they were going to do anything until people started talking about the cute meet/greet area they had. It was after I left. :(
