I know this is totally off the point, but if something I buy at Wally World breaks and they still carry the item, I buy another one and use that receipt to return the broken thing.
Stop the presses here. You mean nobody in the USA listened to the president when he said buy american. hmmmmmmm Wake up people Walmart is not American it is full of chinese crap. I must say though your steel mill owners and whats left of your manufacturing is doing a number on ours up here. Alot of our stuff is shutting down to save jobs down there but nooooooooo they still ship the cheap crap in from china too. Next time you go buy a auto part and they ask which do you want the cheap one or expensive one. Ask were they are made. I always buy the ones made in USA or Canada if it's a option.
Donnie I am so sorry for your daughter. What a disappointment for her. I'll just put it out there- I am scared of China. They don't care about their people so imagine how they feel about us. I am a realtor and I have been in homes with the chinese drywall. It is downright awful. My eyes watered up within seconds of walking in the home. It destroys the appliances one at a time and then eats up the copper. It has to do with the humidity mixing with the sulfur. BUT, we went there to get our drywall during the boom. Now, we are paying the price. It is a big price to pay for some, they can't live in or sell their home.
I cannot stand China. I think that's a given. A friend of our's son recently married a girl from China. He went over as an english teacher, fell in love and brought her back here to live. This is a little graphic but in the bldg. her parents live in they don't have a toilet, just a pipe and they just use the bathroom and put a cover back over it. I'm not sure what the quality problem is but they don't make anything that lasts. We have 3 drywall plants here in Jacksonville. One closed and 2 are struggling but we buy crappy sulfur laden drywall from them. Please buy USA products for the sake of Peter Paul and Mary. I know it's hard to spend a few more bucks right now and to find something made in USA but when buying a car or major purchase do some research and spend money that stays here in the USA.
Chinese people are fine, the government (Chinese) is not OK. Those poor people have to work in the most horrific environment. The kids are put to work right away and god forbid you have a talent like gymnastics.

Thank you for the clarification. I have traveled to China and am well aware of the conditions. For what it is worth, I agree about the Chinese government. I got lost when we went from drywall to people.

The Chinese drywall is drywall imported from china during the housing boom. It has a sulfur in it that when combined with humidity creates toxic gas. It it also eats away copper. Now peole who bought homes built 2004-6 have to check and see if they have it. If they do, they have to redrywall and install new copper. My point is this is from China. The (China) government has no standards for its people or the products it exports. Kinda like the lead toys from a while back.

There was an interesting article this week about China and their trade laws. It explained how a graphics company purchased photo paper from a Chinese co, it turned out to be inferior to the specs it was purchased at. After considerable time, money and effort they won a judgement against the Chinese co that they will likely never collect on due to their trade laws.
A good friend of mine previously worked for a machine builder, they laughed when a machine was purchased and shipped to China, they knew they would never sell another, the installer told them he never set the machine up since they tore it apart as soon as it got there so they could duplicate it. Patent laws to them are a joke,
one more thing to remember usa and u.s.a are different also there is a usa japan so you maybe actually buying something not made here and dont even know it
