China July 4, 2010

We booked too and are very excited. I think I've already read the itinerary about 20 times!

we did the china adventure last summer (me, daughter 12, son 5 1/2) and had a blast! we were pulled off the plane in beijing (my soon had his hoodie on) and thermoscan couldnt detect his temp, so was sent to triage tent for eval...temp normal so off we went.

we did arrive 1 day early to try to rest up. glad we did. the trip is packed full of fun and adventures! highly recommended....wouldnt do this trip with any other tour company (ie the only group that was offered the opportunity to hold panda bears was the disney group...etc).

you will have a trip of a lifetime....recommend bringing some small bottles of lysol (or other fragrence) for the occasionally stinly potty...any maybe your own portable TP. everything else will be taken care of for you by disney!

my kids still talk about things they saw and even will occasionally use a chinese word here or there...just remember....as brian says (he was one of our guides)....it's not good, it's not bad, it's just different!

have fun!

So glad to hear that you've booked! My husband, daughter (12), and I will be on the trip. How many in your family? Any kids?

Thanks,

Jen

Our daughter will be 5 - hoping it is all not too tiring for her! I have a vision of carrying her through the Forbidden City......

Our family is celebrating today. We booked our Enchanted China trip for July 4, 2010! We are really excited, and maybe a little nervous, but we are definitely going!!!!!!!

Hooray for us!

I know it is early, but we would love to connect with anyone else going on this adventure.

Nice! Good for your family bonding. We are planning to Disney Hongkong this year but still tentative depending on our free time..

I am so glad to "meet" others going on to China with us! We are very excited.

Our girls are currently in third grade (8 years old) and fifth grade (10 years old). This will be our fourth trip to China.

It is cold and snowy here. I am looking forward to warmer weather. I am already tired of snow and it is only January!

Has anyone booked their flights yet? I'm hoping to take a nonstop from Newark to Beijing, but I'm hoping the price comes down a bit. I'm going to book it soon though so I don't have to worry.

We have our tickets...only because we used miles. Although we live in San Francisco, we are flying through Chicago, from there it is direct. In order to upgrade, I had to manipulate our flights...so we fly from SFO to Chicago a day early and then start our trip. We opted to fly into Beijing two days early in order to adjust to the time change...at least a little!

Hello!

My husband and I are on the July 4 trip to CHINA!!! Cannot wait.

Have to book our flights...

JLoane... we will be flying out of Newark too, on July 2 (we are doing one night there before the trip starts). If you see a good rate, let me know!

Should be the trip of a lifetime!

Has anyone found a good price for Newark? We've been checking prices for EWR/JFK/ALB/BDL/BOS and it's still around $1250/pp. Holding out hoping the prices will come down some more!

We are arriving a day early too.
2GirlsMama - how did you get to the Temple of Heaven? That is where I want to go on the 'pre-day' - taxi? Metro? walk?

Hi Disneyphx! We took a taxi to the Temple of Heaven. If you choose to go by Taxi, the hotel concierge can give you a card with the destination and the hotel name so you can be sure to get where you want to go (and can return to the hotel!). Also, we made the mistake of not verifying which entrance we were dropped off and had a little challenge finding a taxi when we left from a different place. The Temple of Heaven is HUGE. It is surrounded by a beautiful park and there were lots of people in the park. It was absolutely wonderful. Of course, there is the added bonus of seeing the 1/2 scale replica in the China pavillion at EPCOT. I think it is so neat to have been to both!

We ate at a Chinese restaurant last night. We have been going there for years. We had such a fun time discussing our trip with the restaurant owner. She is so excited for us. I just can't wait!
