Chilly's Golden Triangle Roadtrip (with not a lot of road) Day 11 - Road Trip Day 3

Tuesday 5th April

We had a little bit of a lie in today and then went to the hotel reception to have the free breakfast, there wasn't a lot of choice at all. This morning we go on our pre-booked tour of Hearst Castle, we get a very enthusiastic tour guide and enjoy the tour a lot, here are just a few of the many photos we took...

The tour guide did however seem to be trying quite hard to convince the group to go on another tour (they offer 5 different ones in all) and a one point seemed to refuse to answer a question because it was to do with another tour. We get lunch there, DH has a pizza and I get a burger as its ranched there but its really disappointing as are the crisps it comes with. We decide not to watch the film and instead to get going.

We fill up with gas in Cambria which has a cute Main Street.

We continue along PCH1 with a little detour into Solvang which i'd read about on Tammy & Kev's TR.

We arrive at our next stop Santa Barbara to find we have been upgraded to a harbour view room, i'm not sure how much of an upgrade it really is as we now overlook a busy road instead of the garden which we'd booked. They have a free cheese and wine reception so we sit by the pool for a little bit.

We walk to the wharf/pier and have a stroll up and down. We eat at a restaurant called Moby Dicks and its not that good. We get a little starter included in the price, clam chowder or green salad and we get one of each, DH has crab cakes and I have Teriyaki chicken but its very lemoney and the mash not that good, DH's fries are nice though and the cake we share for pudding is fine. I have a lemon drop cocktail but its not a patch on the ones I had in Vegas.

Back at the hotel we watch the Incredibles and I write up my TR notes.
