I've got a cold, not exactly what you want when you are about to go on holiday, but all that's forgotten when we get the news that DH has got a new job, and as he was being made redundant in 6 days time this was a brilliant start to the holiday.

We've both got today off of work, I should have packed last night but because of my cold thought i'd leave it until today as we weren't setting off until this afternoon. Time seemed to disappear though and I packed in a mad panic. DH is waiting for various e-mails to come through from his new job as he needs to send them some info back before we go away, there is no sigh of it all morning. We plan to get the 3:28pm train to Gatwick which means we need to leave the house at 2:45pm to walk to the station. At 2:40pm I finish packing and the e-mail arrives. I realise we aren't going to make it in time so ring for a taxi to pick up at 3:10pm. DH fills in all the info they need and we carry the bags outside as the taxi pulls up early so we arrive at the station in plenty of time.

The train is pretty busy. We play cards to pass the time and to get in practise for Vegas. It takes an hour and a half on the train so arrive at Gatwick at 5pm. We head over to the Hilton to check in. I wash my hair so that I can save time in the morning as I want to sleep as late as possible knowing its going to be a long day.
We head back over to the airport for twilight check in which has no queue then its over to Giraffe to eat. We share some garlic focaccia skewers to start, then DH has risotto and cheesecake and I get a chicken/bacon/cheese sandwich followed by a brownie, plus 2 vanilla breeze cocktails, DH has wine.
We dived into our puddings too quickly and forgot to take photos sorry. By the end of the meal we were stuffed. I use the 20% voucher that was posted on the DIS then its back to our room to watch TV then bed.
