Chilly towels

I was at Ocean State Job Lots today and got 4 Frogg Tog towels for $3.99 each. Unfortunately I had to get 3 pink and could only find 1 blue. But I'm going to try to go back tomorrow or Monday since I just did a quick impulse grab as I was checking out and saw the ad in the flyer and ran and just grabbed 4. I hope I can get a couple other colors than pink because I'm directing a Vacation Bible School and these are big enough to cut into multiples to cool off some over heating kids and I know the boys are not going to be happy about pink. Just thought I would post on this thread because I know people are spending over $10 for them and if you have this store near you.......
wow what a great deal!!!! Wish I would have found some for that price!!! I paid 12.99 each!! Def worth it tho

I was happy when I went back yesterday and they are pretty much wiped out but I happened to look closely and the pink and red color are close but I was able to get 2 red.

I'm in the double digits. Time to start packing. ;)

I bought two of the brand they carry at the local Rite Aid and they work wonderfully. I also just ordered two Frog Tog ones. My DH and I are going to be in the parks in September and since we both have heat issues we are taking two each to make sure we stay cool. Glad to hear a report that these are in the parks now, even if it is only in one known place.

I'm not sure what these are, but to avoid getting too hot we bring a small cooler the size of a purse and grab some of the resort wet wash cloths and ice from the ice machine and it works great too :thumbsup2 Oh and we don't keep them, that would be stealing...we of course leave them in the room at the end of our trip :goodvibes

We do something similar. I have a soft-sided insulated lunch bag from Dollar Tree- it's big enough to hold a couple of sandwiches- and we bring this every trip. At night, I wet wash cloths, fold them in quarters, and FREEZE them in the hotel fridge. In the morning, I put each washcloth in its own ziplock baggie (sandwich size) and then they go into the lunch bag, and into my backpack. They stay frozen for quite awhile, and cold much longer. SO REFRESHING at 2pm in August! Although they eventually thaw out, we rewet them, put them back in their baggies, and add a handful of ice to each baggie. They stay reasonably cold and wet this way, and FAR cheaper than $12 a person!

I just wanted to say thank you to OP & everyone else who contributed to this thread. :goodvibes I've ordered a Frogg Togg Sport towel from Amazon.com & it's on its way to me for my upcoming August trip. At first I didn't like the idea of wearing something around my neck all day in the parks & what I'd do with it on rides like RnR (I do not carry a bag & will not put something like this in the netting on the ride). But it sounds like it will make a huge difference in my comfort so I will deal with it. I'm looking forward to its first use soon! :cool1:

Just bring a baggie in your pocket, slip your FT in it before rides, 'then' put it in the netting 'pocket' provided. Secure, but stays sanitary also! :thumbsup2

If this has already been said, forgive me. If you plan to bring a new chilly pad on your trip, be sure to wash it first. I had read an Amazon review warning of color transfer if not washed first. I washed mine yesterday--one yellow and one blue, and there was dye in the water. After thoroughly rinsing, I'm pretty confident I won't have any issues with the color transferring.
