Chillin' at the Contemporary-PTR+ All-Star quick trip TR - Completed

I met up with my mom, and we browsed Tinkerbell's store, and Sir Mickey's.

As we were walking towards Main Street, we saw the end of the castle show. Yes, I still love it after like a million times hehe

As the show was coming to an end, I decided to go and get a spot for the parade. My mom didn't know if she'd watch it or not.

As we were finding our spot, the marching band was playing.

Soon after that, the pre-parade started, with the muppets. I love Miss Piggy. I was thrilled!

You had a great spot there! You also have nice zoom on your camera. What is the make and model? I'm researching a DSLR camera purchase. Right now I have a small compact Samsung SL502 with only 5x optical zoom. It replaced my beloved Kodak 7590 that was ruined in a super heavy rain downpour during our first day of our July09 trip. That one had 10x zoom, and so many more features. Its frustrating to have a lesser camera, although it has more megapixels than my Kodak. We needed to buy something less expensive and quick. So we got the Samsung at Costco. I'm looking forward to more of your parade pics. Did you say goodbye to Spectro-Magic since they're replacing it with the old Main Street Electrical Light Parade? Although, slightly updated. Nothing quite puts me in the magical mood and happy place like the theme song for Spectro Magic! I'm really gonna miss it. I videoed the whole parade on my Kodak camera but it is in about 10 segments which are separate files. I'm techno challenged so I haven't yet learned how to sew those segments together. the format is .mov, which windows movie maker isn't compatible with. I bought a program at Costco last year, but :rolleyes1 haven't opened the box yet... it strikes fear just the thought of installing it :sad2: I think when I bought it it appeared that it would work with the .mov files. My new samsung camera doesn't have the .mov format. Dont' know yet what it is. Haven't taken a movie yet. We won't even discuss my fear of our camcorder:eek:

Thanks! I bought my camera in 2006. It's a canon powershot. I will soon have to replace it though. It's starting to play tricks on me. But I don't want it to die. I don't have the money to replace it.

Here's a link to the newer model.

As for camcorders, I bought one 2 years ago. It's a sony and it's wonderful as it records on DVDs.

Hey guys.

I will update later this week.

I am being evaluated for the 5th year tomorow and I need to prepare for that. As long as I don't have tenure, I have to be evaluated every year. Yuck!

UGH! I HATE the concept of "tenure!" I don't have it yet either! I don't know how it works where you are, but in NJ, it's 3 years. Well, I worked 3 years in one district. Then I went to another district so I had to start all over again but my position was for a leave replacement so my whole first year didn't count! So I've had 7 years of 3 observations/evaluations every year!! Thankfully, I am done with them now and I just need to get rehired for next year and I will finally have it!!

Good luck with your lesson!! What are you planning to do?

To have tenure here it's: 2 years full time(subsequent... dunno if I used the word correctly. You have to have these 2 years one after the other) (1oo%) under your name.

I only had 1 year at 87% under my name. Doesn't count. All the others were replacements. So I am far from getting tenure. Even after 5 years.

I'm doing a little art analysis class. Showing them a few artworks, talking about them. And then they have to analyse another. It's work from David Garibaldi they will be seeing. And a few classics like one Van Gogh, and a Da Vinci.

Great start to your trip! I'm glad it finally stopped raining! LOVE the Mad Hatter hat! Too funny Alice wouldn't go see her own movie! :rotfl2: Can't wait for more!

Great update!

Love your touring pace...it definitely doesn't seem rushed at all. I like that:thumbsup2

Glad the rain stopped.

I always forget about that room! Ugh! It's going to be top priority whenever I get to go again!

I'm jealous you saw Miss Piggy and Kermit!! I hope they make them a staple now; there's not much involving them, and the 3-D show just downright needs updated.

Good luck on your eval!

All caught up!!!

Sounds like you had a 'fun' time getting out of Canada. Glad you were able to make your connecting flight!!! That would of been terrible if you missed that!

I really love your pics!!! They are great!!:goodvibes

Sounds great! Good luck! :thumbsup2

Thanks. The principal said I did a good job. But I'm going back to see him wednesday for feedback.

Yeah, I thought that was odd. I would totally have tought it would be the kind of thing Alice would be into.

Well that's a relief! Congratulations!

I hate when they walk out without saying anything and I have to sweat it until the post conference!

I went to the secretary's office to set the post conference and he was there. I was relieved he said it went well because I had the opposite feeling lol

I'm glad he thinks it went well. I didn't realize teachers had tenure. I thought it just applied to college professors. My father in law is now retired but he was a tenured professor at U of Maryland and then at Baylor University. He was in Maryland like 30 years before Baylor.

How can you teach 87% under your own name? How can you not teach in your own name? These terms confuse me. I've only been a substitute teacher. I think teaching art would be great! I love art! I'm more home ec though. My friend who is a 5th grade teacher thinks I should use my college degree and get provisionally hired to teach Family and Consumer Economics, which is the grade school equivalent of my college degree. I would enjoy teaching the cooking and sewing part. I don't know anything about curiculum development (can't even spell it) or lesson plans. Right now however, they're cutting back on teachers so Home Ec topics isn't the thing they keep. Math is. You won't find me where math is!

I know how confusing it may sound. Let me try to make it clear.

The percentage depends on how many groups they give you, and how many periods they fill on a schedule of 28. At the moment I have 50% and have 6 groups that fill 14 periods out of the 28.

When I see under my name...it's that I "own" the group. When it's not under my name, it's that I am replacing someone else who is either on maternity leave, sick leave, etcc.. Right now... the 50% is owned by my colleage who is allowed to teach only 50% as he is slowly retiring. So those groups are not my "own" in a way. I don't know if it makes sense. So my job this year are not counting as time for me seniority in the schoolboard.

I loved home ec.!! But we don'T have that anymore. Which is sad. So I taught one of my classes to sew this year. Some of them were really proud of themselves :)

If you have any more questions, don't be shy.

The part about the 28 periods is confusing because we must not use those terms here. The part about replacing someone, that I get. That's the only kind of teaching I've done at all.

It would be fun to teach sewing, cooking and consumer economics. When my youngest daughter is a little older, I might look into it. But then, if I had job, I'd actually have to go to work EVERY day! As a sub, unless I had a long term job, I would get to decide if I wanted to work on any given day. The longest sub I did was a week or two for English as a Second Language. That was a rewarding class because the kids had a good attitude about learning. They didn't want to slack off because there was a sub. Some classes mentally check-out when there's a sub. They knew that they needed to learn English and they didn't care that it was me and not their regular teacher.

Right now, we'll be putting my son through college starting in the fall, so I don't see having $$ to spend on more classes for me. Don't want to cut into my Disney budget!:lmao: Plus my husband is considering getting a masters. He talked about an MBA which is a huge departure from his BS degree in Biochemistry and his BS degree in Computer Science.

My little Heidi ( age 7)insists she isn't going to college. She says she's going to work at Disney on the Its a Small World ride. I trained her well!
